ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH PLACE STAY AWAY!!!! Review of Catalonia Punta del Rey Reviewed today WARNING DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!! DO NOT KNOW WHY PEOPLE PRAISE THIS PLACE ITS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Would not even rate this place its very dated and shabby No maintenance what so ever! Nearly had a lump of concrete land on our heads when they were working above us!!! Management rubbish did not even say sorry!! No customer care whatsoever. Door to room is barely secure tiles all broken in bathroom and screw sticking out the floor mirror is all loose, Balcony door will not lock in one of our rooms, Free to use safe in one room but apparently we have to pay to use the other one in other room, Swimming pool is Scummy and full of grit has not been cleaned properly in the 2 weeks we have been here.THANKS TUI!!!

Let’s start with the positives… Clean rooms and fresh towels daily Good food selection and I’m sure that even the fussiest of people will find something to eat. Great salads! Adult only pool, always sun beds available As a premium guest was able to use the solarium which is peaceful if a little rustic Only 40 minutes from airport Majority of staff are friendly Negatives Adult only pool open 9-5 whereas family pool never seems to close! Family pool and area very small and chaotic and not enough sun beds for all the families Location is not great if you like to go out and about Cheap cola and not that nice Unable to extend room for late check out during peak season Lifts are too small and very jerky So if you are after 5star luxury look elsewhere but fit a cheap and cheerful holiday it is perfect! You get what you pay for. Enjoyed our time but would not return. The hotel is too big with not enough outdoor space for my liking Tips Bring towels but can hire them for €15 each which is refundable but need cash. Shop in hotel sells towels for €4.50 Meal times are best going early to avoid the rush We did not see the evening entertainment so cannot comment on that.

This hotel is awful!! Some of the staff are rude and unhelpful!! The pool is tiny, it’s incredibly outdated, there cockroaches everywhere, the food is ok but not a great choice, and the hotel is dirty in general, it’s just not a nice place to stay!! First night we arrived we were told we could get food from the snack bar as it was late, we went through and the security guard was very rude and told us to get out!! Staff advised him they’d allowed us in there we went back in and he again kicked us out!! Some of these people don’t like British people!! Awful place!! Stay away spend your money elsewhere I will Ron ever return here and have wasted a lot of blood sweat and tears and work paying for a holiday in just not enjoying at all!! If I could give zero stars I would!!

My best advice would be to spend your money elsewhere. Like the 80s with unhelpful rude staff. To all the I can’t wait to go back reviewers I think you may need to get out more as they say.easy pleased . Hard to know where to begin. The beach of volcanic rock was 20 mins walk away along the front which was good for swimming and snorkelling . The positives - the solarium area is lovely accessed at bottom of padel courts and across road. Large jacuzzis and nice views. The entertainment was decent That’s it. The infinity pool seems nice at first but after couple days you notice how unclean the surrounding areas are Negatives - staff , rooms, paper cups (as an adult I can carry a glass) the insistence on explaining yourself every time that you were staying in the building with no air con to be allowed a glass, one person serving at bars whilst spending most of time ignoring customers and having a conversation with another member of staff whilst queues building up Staff who don’t seem to be aware other nationalities can speak Spanish .RUDE! Staff who seemed inebriated. The dining hall/canteen is noisy and busy while the smell of stagnant water was overwhelming.we realised if you sit at snack bar end it isn’t as bad although standing in a queue to get into canteen in a non air conditioned area was, the staff seemed to take great pleasure in sliding the chairs and tables about in a tiled surface which let’s just say made a loud screeching noise , my experiences with the reception staff consisted of a tired female rubbing face and yawning on arrival which became the norm for various staff at reception.Rooms and that was a premium were like the 80s mirrored wardrobes falling off rails and wood chip on walls The clientele were mostly french ,English and Spanish. but I guess have never been to a decent hotel or are happy queuing 20 mins for a crepe and sitting in patio furniture from the 80s At 11 pm you are ushered inside like children to the non air conditioned inside of building , it’s laughable that people return here to me . We are a couple in our 50s who have travelled for decades all over the world and like to think we are reasonably minded but I can honestly say it’s one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in and couldn’t wait to leave. I think the hotel maybe runs a programme for recovering addicts We went last minute on a whim but I regret giving this hotel my hard earned cash and I think tui needs to have a look into it why it’s on their books. 3 star rating possibly due to solarium area and infinity pool but the actual hotel would be a 1 star for me My best guess is the fact it’s 1 of 1 hotels in the area and complacency has become the norm. Laziness , rudeness, the real Spain ?it actually reminded me as to why I stopped going to the canaries On first arrival the first impressions of hotel would back that up. For management to walk into hotel every day and ignore the obvious deficiencies in plain view smacks of complacency Scabby mats all moved with dirty marks leaks in hall bar ceiling. We got for a bargain and my expectations were low but the general rudeness of staff compelled me to write this review. Spend another £100 and get an actual hotel that makes you feel welcome

Scroll past the bad reviews - we have loved our stay here. The staff- friendly, inclusive and have time for everyone. Really engaged with our teenagers and learnt everyone’s names. The Animation team are fantastic as are the Reception staff, Kitchen staff, Cleaners, Life guard and Bar staff. Atmosphere - fun, family oriented and packed full of activities. We came with 5 teenagers and one pre-teen and have barely seen them they’ve been doing every activity they can! The Pool - we personally loved the pool - the children spent most of the day in it. It’s warm and although it does get busy, it’s not so packed you can’t happily spend the day in it. Sunbeds - I queued from 7am each morning so we could have sunbeds by the edge of the pool. However throughout the day sunbeds were offered to those without them and people don’t use their sunbeds all day so they become free for others. Location - in a quiet part of Tenerife with a few restaurants and bars along the seafront. There is a beach about a 10 minute walk from the hotel where you can sunbathe and swim, the water is beautifully clear. Activities - get involved in everything you can. Our family have played: Pétanque, Green Bowls, Cornhole, Rings, Pool Zumba, Darts, Volleyball, Water Polo, Water Volleyball, Pool Aerobics and much more. Entertainment - the evenings are full of entertainment should you wish to watch it. The Pool Bar has a DJ or karaoke each night. The Show bar this week had: Motown tribute, Elton John Tribue, Tina Turner tribute, a magician, a Broadway show, Men Vs Women and an Acrobatic show. All really good fun. The food - themed nights including Mediterranean, Hindu, British and Local. Every night there are salads, freshly cooked meats, local dishes, fish, bread, pizza, pasta, chips, cheeses, cold meats and desserts. The food is amazing - something for absolutely everyone and you can’t fault it. We will be returning for many years to come
