Hotel Antico Monastero

Absolutely amazing holiday solo trip woman on my own all week first time to Italy totally fell in love with Lake Garda the Hotel stunning I don’t understand some movies people have put about things being old. It’s an old monastery. What do they expect? Obviously they don’t respect things of age in life because the hotel was beautiful. The grounds are beautiful. The pool was beautiful. The veins were cricket and everything was so clean the shutters the views the food the prices the staff can’t fault it beautiful sat on gorgeous grounds formally walk to the lake. Absolutely stunning place cannot wait and hope and prayer can go again in 2027.

We stayed at the hotel as a family of three. The location is convenient in the sense that the hotel is very close to the lake, but it is worth mentioning that the property is located in the middle of a large campsite, which may not be clear from the hotel description. The hotel’s private “beach” is also quite limited – in practice, it consists of only a small area with a few sun loungers rather than a proper private beach. The food was one of the stronger points of our stay. Both breakfast and dinner were good, with a reasonable selection, including options suitable for vegetarians and vegans. The pool was clean, the room was serviced daily, and most of the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, our stay was significantly affected by a persistent problem with hot water in the room. From the beginning of our stay, the boiler did not work properly. After being reset, it would heat the water again, but after one use the hot water would run out and the same problem would return. As a result, whenever we wanted to take a shower, we had to inform reception in advance so that someone could come and reset the boiler. We reported the problem several times, but no effective repair or alternative solution was offered. We were eventually told by reception that there was nothing more they could do apart from resetting the boiler and that we should contact the Booking Manager ourselves. We were the ones who suggested that, as a small form of compensation for the inconvenience, perhaps our drinks with dinner could be complimentary. This was not offered by the hotel. We then contacted the Booking Manager as instructed, but never received any reply at all. Considering that this was an ongoing problem affecting a basic hotel service throughout our stay, the lack of response was very disappointing and unprofessional. Overall, the hotel has several positive aspects: it is close to the lake, the room was spacious and comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, housekeeping was provided daily, the food was good and the pool was clean. Unfortunately, the unresolved hot-water problem and, especially, the way our complaint was handled had a significant negative impact on our stay.

A lovely hotel in a nice setting, close to many amenities, including a supermarket five mins away. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are dated and could do with a freshen up, the hotel is kept very clean and rooms are always cleaned daily with fresh towels and everything you need handwash/shampoo etc. The pool has very strict supervision from a lifeguard and it sadly closes at 6pm which is way too early especially when you have kids wanting to use it. There is another you can use in the camping site that closes at 7pm. The hotel pool has a chain around it making sure you don’t jump in and insisting you enter via the steps. If you plan to sunbathe or use the pool bring your own towels from home as they only provide them to guests staying in suites otherwise they expect you to use your bath towel from your bathroom. A good breakfast with everything you need. Gets very busy so I would suggest getting to breakfast early to avoid the crowds.

Nice staff, nice food, good drinks, all that is needed for a well deserved holiday! ~The Hotel Antico Monastero is a very old building with its shortcomings and that is exactly what we love about it.

A beautiful location within walking distance of Lake Garda. The staff were friendly upon arrival. Breakfast was extensive, and the staff were accommodating regarding food allergies. The room was clean. Unfortunately, the room was much too hot. Booking.com stated that air conditioning would be available. Unfortunately, this was not the case. When we asked at the front desk, they said it wouldn’t be turned on until May and that we should open the window. As a result, our room was full of mosquitoes. So, due to the heat, we didn’t sleep well at all. Furthermore, the rooms are outdated and the walls are very thin. We could hear everything the neighbors said, and even the TV sound was audible. So it certainly wasn’t quiet at night. The Wi-Fi works very poorly or not at all. The elevator is outdated, and we were stuck in it for at least 5 minutes. In April, the value for money was good, but if you were to book during the summer months, we don’t think that would be the case.
