Hotel Porta del Sole

We had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Porta del Lago in Soiano in the period from 7/8/2026 to 7/16/2026 with a superior room and half-board package. Apart from a few flaws that we will tell you about later, we had a great time for the following reasons: 1- all the staff are truly “pet friendly”: we have a dachshund that, rightly excluding the pool, we were allowed to bring into any space and at any time: from the veranda where we had lunch and breakfast, to all the hotel areas, including the lawns. There was always someone who provided a bowl of water and a pet: things that are appreciated. 2 – the reception staff is competent and always available to try to solve any problem. 3 – nothing to say about the cleaning and the staff in charge, as well as the waiters in charge of table service, kind and capable (thanks for the oil, Alberto!!!!). 4 – the quality of the food is truly excellent and the portions are generous (we always took one portion of everything to share between the two of us and it was more than enough). Just one note: it might be possible to vary a few dishes on the menu from week to week, which otherwise, especially for those staying for a certain period, could become repetitive. 5 – not only the staff, but the local people and those in the surrounding area seemed truly affable and open to always having a chat, even with us unknown tourists, a rare quality nowadays. Now, however, let’s talk about the “flaws” we mentioned earlier: 1 – the first night, which was not included in the stay but which we had to add due to the usual train strikes, we were provided with a ground-floor room. To be a superior room, it could be defined as exceptional, practically a suite: a small living room for television separated from the bed, a bathroom with a hydromassage shower, and a large floor area. Unfortunately, we had to change it because a) it was very damp and had little sunlight, b) once out the door there was no protection or low wall separating it from the stairs leading to the lawn and the pool: our dog is elderly – and you can’t trust him – but we also have a few aches and pains. The room was, however, changed for us immediately to one on the first floor with a balcony: excellent and also very spacious here. 2 – the hotel has a great many stairs, unfortunately none of which are equipped with at least a handrail: this is decidedly dangerous, especially regarding certain stairs that practically exit from the rooms and lead directly to the bar or the pool, overcoming a significant height difference (about 10 steps). 3 – since Soiano is a very “difficult” town, as there are practically no shops and it is cut through by provincial and state roads without sidewalks, it would seem appropriate for the hotel to provide  as indicated on your website!!! (even for a fee) a shuttle service (which is listed on the site as being “fluid and reliable”) to go at least to the nearby towns of Moniga or Manerba to buy some basic necessities, even if not strictly food-related. Aside from these easily solvable details (be careful with the stars, though, which are lost precisely for these reasons!!!) we had a pleasant stay and would like to thank all the staff for their competence, availability, and courtesy. I stayed at this hotel and I truly had a great experience. The facility is welcoming, clean, and well-maintained. I greatly appreciated the service, always kind, available, and professional. The staff was courteous and nice throughout the entire stay, making me feel at ease. Very positive experience, I recommend this hotel to anyone seeking comfort and hospitality. I would definitely return gladly!

Wonderful stay! Beautiful hotel with a spectacular lake view and a truly stunning pool, perfect for relaxing. The restaurant is also excellent: well-prepared dishes, authentic flavors, and fantastic cuisine thanks to the chef's talent. An experience I absolutely recommend!

Truly highly recommended!!! We had a great time, excellent service and warm hospitality. Rooms are always clean and tidy, and the dishes are excellent.
