Santa Margherita Palace

I stayed at this lovely hotel with 3 friends for one week. The position was excellent, close to the town, sea and station. The rooms were stylish and well equipped - also quiet! From the moment we arrived the customer service was exceptional, especially AnnaRita, the Manager, who went out of her way to recommend restaurants and places to visit. We were very happy with our choice of hotel and would recommend.

My girlfriend and I stayed two nights in this hotel celebrating her birthday. We booked a suite for the occasion and to our disappointment, this hotel did not meet our expectations. For a hotel giving themselves out to be a luxury hotel they failed to deliver on one of the most important criterias: Cleanliness. Our room was not clean, the nightstands were dusty and a chair in the bathroom had dust and someones bodyhair on it. Also, the four post bed had the curtains just somehow flung on there, not very tidy and not luxurious at all. So we advised the front desk who responded "we will try to fix it". After a long day out we got back to our room to find it had been serviced, the curtains removed from the bed leaving the frame bare and with dirty fingerprints all over it, the dust had not been cleaned from the nightstands and the chair in the bathroom still had the same dust and bodyhairs on it. On checkout the front desk could only offer they were sorry and discount half a lunch sandwhich. Very disappointing to say the least and I cannot recommend this hotel.

The personnel is the absolute highlight of the place. Friendly, professional, proactive. Top class. The venue is not on the sea. But in the centre. It is very clean, lean, no frills with minimalist furniture (may be the rooms are a bit small). Absolutely clean, sleek and comfortable. Now the question is: what defines this place a five star!? Probably the SPA that we did not visit. However the Gym is quite small, more than 3 people cannot train at the same time. Only negative note is on the pillows, bit cheap. All in all you are close to Portofino.

I parked on a public road, yet the hotel charged me 30 euros for parking. Booking had already collected the taxes, but the hotel demanded an extra 10 euros as a city tax. Upon entering the room, the shower was broken, covered in limescale, and there was a strong smell of damp and mold. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Very nice hotel with lovely location near train station. Staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed 4 nights. However, extremely disappointed , as pool and spa lovers, to be asked to pay €50 per person extra for each visit to their facility. Never had to pay extra for such a service in any hotel we’ve stayed in before.
