Golfo del Sole

Great location. Very nice few days of relaxation in the middle of a tour around Italy. Beautiful beach that wasn’t crowded. Each room is assigned a pair of chairs and an umbrella on the beach, which was convenient. The pool was just enough with a small slide for the kids. The resort has a bunch of water sports at the beach (paddle boats, kayaks, SUPs) all readily available for 10 euro for 30 min or 15 euro for 1 hour, which I found reasonable. They also offer a free kids club and various kids activities, so the resort is a great option for families. The kids club instructors spoke English, which helped our kids feel comfortable. They run a kids dance party every night with songs in several languages (English, Italian, German), and our kids particularly enjoyed that. We stayed in the hotel, but there are also bungalows and apartments that looked nice. The bungalows overlooking the sea looked especially great, but unfortunately they were not available for our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable and updated. We booked a family room, which was basically a 2 bedroom hotel room (very comfortable for a family of 4). While food quality was just fine, we found the food options to be a bit lacking at times. Although there was always somewhere to eat, it was confusing as to where we could actually get food at any particular time of the day. There’s a pizza place next to the pool that doesn’t seem to open for lunch, which seemed odd to us given that the pool is most crowded in the middle of the day. The restaurant in the hotel is also closed for lunch most days. The beachside restaurant is nice but reservations are needed a day or two in advanced. We also found it a bit frustrating that the pool closes early in the evening, well before dusk. And on one of the days of our visit there was a short storm in the morning that led the resort to close the pool and beachside restaurant for the entire day (and evening) even after the day cleared up and turned into a beautiful afternoon. Overall, this resort is a great option for a nice family vacation. We had a very relaxing few days there.

Being from Tuscany before covid we never really booked holidays in our own region. Last year we booked at the nearby The Sense Experience and, being terribly disappointed, while walking down the beach we saw the bungalows of Golfo del Sole. This year we booked a sea view suite for 1/3 of the price of The Sense Resort and it was better in any possible way. Access to the beach is 30 m away, you get a nice gazebo together with the room and the beach is not as crowded as the other sections in follonica since the resort owns a very long stretch. The pool is ok, nothing spectacular but it serves its purpose. We haven’t tried the kids activities or other sport equipment but they looked fine and well organized. Breakfast is ok, difficult to do better under covid restrictions.

I've been guest of Golfo del Sole for 4 years during the eighties, I was a child, and I've always kept with me such fantastic memories of this Swiss touristic village with beautiful bungalows directly face off with the sea, comfortable apartments and a nice hotel, with tons of different services like big swimming pools, minigolf, restaurant, minimarket, tennis courts, etc. Many years later, it's enchanting to discover it again with my two children, the quality of the resort it's such improved, with a total renovation of all structures, with a very attentive and personalized service, incredible comfort, great food, tons of fun and even relaxing atmosphere for all family members. I've booked the hotel, the last week of July2021, the rooms aren't giants but they fit comfortable and very clean. All the elements are delightful, I truly appreciated it, the entire resort staff is very kind towards every single necessity that you or your children could have. We've spent a fantastic holiday time, we're definitely thinking for coming back for our future summer vacation.

On the plus side : The apartment was clean and nicely equipped, there are numerous activities (pool, tennis, ping-pong, volley, mini-golf, etc...), definitely good to have a private space on the beach and not having the stress to go early to reserve a place. Could be better : the pool (not always enough transats, pool not big enough at peak time and a bit old), the restaurants (quite expensive and not great, better to drive a few minutes out to eat in real Toscanian restaurants...) Summary : good place for a week with the kids, would not stay longer as not really exclusive and private, too big and too touristic I would say, but you will find what necessary.

My wife and I spent three nights at Golfo del Sole from 20-23 October 2020 and came away enthusiastic. The accomodations, of which there are a number of alternatives from hotel room to apartment, were excellent and well maintained. We happened to hit a time when the guests came primarily from the Berne, Switzerland area because they love it and it was their autumn school vacation. There are many opportunities for children including mini-golf, bike rental and evening programs.The breakfasts were very good, the evening menu inviting enough to not have to go out seaching elsewhere, although Follonica with its restuarants and unique MAGMA museum is minutes away. The beach with its spectacular view for us was perfect. The staff very polite and competent. No hesitation to recommend to others.
