Hotel Da Vinci

Potential to be much better. Well located hotel on a busy street (room quiet when balcony door closed) close to city centre and to the train station.

Arrival was great and the reception lady was terrific. Room then looked fine and we were happy. Tried to make a coffee, the kettle has to be plugged in to a socket in the bathroom as it is the on;y style to take the kettle plug. You have to balance the kettle on the sink which seemed dangerous so we only used the once. Good job we did only use it once as the paper cups were cleared from the room after the first day and not reached - so for the following 6 days no hot drinks. Housekeeping left us a note telling us to not eat in the room and leave the room tidy. We had a hire car to travel around Tuscany and the snacks we had for various times through out the week seemed to be an issue to store in the room. As for being untidy - perhaps I was - my wife hangs everything up in the wardrobe etc - I live out of the case. Bit of a stretch to say I was untidy however never asked or expected the, to tell me off! There is no ironing facility to be offered. Rather disappointing for someone travelling and from a hotel claiming 4 stars. With what seemed a a very churlish approach from the housekeeping and a poor standard of service we ate out for the hotel each day and resulted in some fantastic culinary ex[3riences. Al in all - could have a been a really good ex-erience but reallly wasn’t.

Our second stay at this lovely quaint hotel

The hotel felt more like a 3* than a 4*. Something that wasn’t clear when booking is that the pool is in a separate hotel across the street which you had to walk to in your swimwear. The shower in our room was tiny and we booked a superior double room with balcony. The shower as mentioned was tiny and when you turned the shower onto full power the head kept turning away from you and falling off the stand. There was one day we returned to our room to find speckles off blood on our bedsheets, when we informed reception they said there’s nothing they can do as the cleaners went home and it ended up being resolved later that evening. This was disappointing. Parking was average sometimes you got a spot in front of the hotel but most of the time you had to trek down the street and parallel park as the spaces was super tight. The air con was strong and kept the room nice and cold however it did leave lingering smells of sewage. The food was delicious and had lots of options. The service in the restaurant was very good. We didn’t feel rushed out. Breakfast was good as there was lots of options and the food taste very nice and the coffee was good too. The beds where pretty comfortable too. The balcony was not bad either as it had a bit of space with two chairs and a table to chill out in the afternoons. All in all the hotel felt more like a 3*.

WOW! This hotel is so beautiful. The kindness and goodness amazed us. The service is excellent, the manager made us laugh so much. The breakfast surprised us as well.
