Spent 4 days here. Keep in mind this is a 3 star hotel and it deserves every one of those stars, but it is clearly not designed for those expecting the lap of luxury. My single room (with queen bed) was not the most spacious or elegantly appointed, but it was very clean (especially the bathroom) and because the hotel is situated n an alpine valley, I don't think there is a bad view of the Dolomites from any balcony on the property. As another reviewer aptly pointed out, sitting in the suspension chairs by the front entrance, inhaling the alpine ambiance in the early evening, was wonderful. What really gets 5 stars from me is the service and the staff, in conjunction with the dining experience. Unlike the U.S., the vast majority of European countries consider breakfast both a noun and a verb : - ). The options for breakfast are amazing and the dinners were equally sumptuous. Most appreciated by me was the extra effort the staff took to accommodate my plant based (vegan diet). For an environment steeped in carnivores (think sausages, pork, veal, beef, fish, etc. etc.) each night the chef made an entre specifically for me. One of the serving staff took me under her wing, each breakfast and dinner pointing out everything that I could and could not eat at the salad/appetizer buffet. Given the circumstances (i.e., their lack of vegan cooking experience) some of the dishes were not "great", but I could have cared less because I was so impressed with their efforts.
We have stayed at Al Piccolo Hotel twice and will be back. We love the family atmosphere, the dinners, and the peaceful setting, as well as the fact that it’s a great starting point for local excursions or *via ferrata* routes. There is free parking at the hotel, and it is also easy to get around the Val di Fassa by bus—which is free (you just need to pick up a card from the hotel). We highly recommend it!
Family-run hotel Great staff who love hosting, clean rooms, good breakfast. I loved it.
We are American travelers in Italy for an extended stay (3 months) applying for citizenship. We've been to the Swiss to Solvenia Alps and wanted to visit the Dolomites. The hotel is a wonderful find and comfortable place to stay. The front desk was helpful and their English was excellent. The room was comfortable, very clean, an end unit overlooking the valley and walkable to the different chair lifts for hikes. We saw a lot of bicyclists staying on site. Breakfast was wonderful, coffee was plentiful! The staff was great! This is a great place to stay for a hotel of this standard.
The hotel is located in a picturesque setting, with beautiful views of the mountains. Very good room and hotel cleanliness, diverse and very tasty breakfast and dinner, very well served by Bianca, Romeo and Anna. The hotel owners are very kind and friendly.
