Charela Inn

We were fortunate enough to have our family reunion at Charela Inn recently (Aug 2026). The staff, the location, the restaurant and the rooms are amazing. There are key differences to a place like this - the hotel owner and staff are incredibly accommodating to large groups. We felt very at ease and relaxed while we were there. The stretch of beach in front of Charela is unparalleled. Friends that stayed at a more upscale all-inclusive came to visit and told us Charela's beach is better. Additionally, the restaurant serves amazing French/Jamaican fusion food. A lot of the food is prepared from scratch by skilled chefs. It does not taste like generic all-inclusive fare. The hotel is also connected to two farms where they raise some of their own animal products and grow some of their own fruits and vegetables. The place has old-school charm and you really feel like you're supporting something unique by going there.

I waited an entire month after my leaving that hotel before writing their review because I knew I was so angry. I was just going to digress I spent so much money on two double occupancy room for just two adults. There was no customer service that disrespect from the staff, the lack of attention to detail the housekeeping. Staff was more pleasant than the front desk. They acted as if I should’ve been honored that they allowed me to stay in this stuff, the surveillance in the prison like activity with the entry and exit. This is way too much surveillance for being on vacation. I actually got a peek at the control room where they have people watching the cameras constantly. After multiple transfers and travel planes, trains, taxis, automobiles, and arriving at almost 10 PM at night to close kitchen not even a bottle of water in my third floor room. My uncle’s air-conditioning didn’t even wasn’t even turned on and it was 90+ degrees the attitude and getting car service or taxi and delays and just disrespect. It was on a regular basis and I just came out of loyalty because I’d stayed there more than 20 years prior twice. I’m two occasions and had a pleasant time. I don’t know who owns it now but it is no longer the same charming place is not even the bar in the playroom. It’s it’s just boring and it’s like lipstick on a pig for those that will understand their analogy. Do not waste your money for your time.

We had the most magical stay at the Charela! It was fantastic from start to finish. The grounds were beautiful, with gorgeous flowers and trees (think orchids growing up tree trunks), cool wildlife, and pristine paths, plus a sparkling clean pool for when we wanted a break from the beach. Our room, a family room featuring bunk beds for our kids and a separate king room for me and my husband), was spacious and comfortable, and the housekeeping staff did an incredible job of cleaning out all the sand that we kept tracking in! The beach was clean and raked every morning by staff, and I felt very safe letting my kids swim freely in the water under the watchful eye of Tyree, the lifeguard. They got to find starfish, schools of fish, and stingrays! It was so cool! Ruben, head of security, was always quick to get us chairs and spent time with us teaching us about the palm trees that they grow on the beach for shade (instead of umbrellas, which, seriously 5 ⭐️ for how awesome and effective they were against the heat). The on-site restaurant, Le Vendome, was delicious, and they were very accommodating for our party, especially on my daughter’s birthday- they decorated our table and brought out ice cream with a sparkler, making her feel so special. Additionally, and most importantly, the staff was INCREDIBLE. Everyone we encountered was kind and friendly, and made us feel welcome. My kids have said several times since we got home that they miss our evening server Nicola, and wish they could see her again. To say that we would go back is a given, but truly, we cannot wait to come back! Charela has become a very special place for our family and I predict many, many returns in the future. As a solo female traveller its important tha i ipick the right hotel Charea inn is it. I could have picked a large corporate hotel but i wanted a family run small hotel that know my name, i am not dissapointed 😊. If you want a piece of paradise this is it. The staff are warm and welcoming, the food is great! , Errol, Richard, Danisha and Reuben to many to mentio and not forvetting the lovely Debbie thankyou for my warm welcome, i will definatly return 💝
