Couples Swept Away

A wonderful 4th visit — already booked for October! This was our fourth stay at Couples Swept Away, and it once again reminded us why we keep coming back. We spent a week here in June and are already counting down to our return in October. Sports & Activities: A huge highlight was Gus, the visiting pickleball coach — he was fabulous and made the sessions so much fun. The sports facilities overall are excellent, and Stephen, who manages them, is lovely. We also noticed and appreciated that the resort had invested in upgrading the spin bikes since our last visit — a small touch that doesn’t go unnoticed by repeat guests. The Beach: As always, the beach was incredible. We got an email from the room manager about not reserving beach beds, which was a nice touch — though it’s worth reinforcing this policy a bit more consistently with guests. Guest Services: A special shout-out to Karen in Guest Services, who couldn’t have done more for us and truly made our last day special. Dining: The food was great as always — we’re partial to the à la carte restaurants, and Goodwin at Feathers was a delight on both occasions we dined there. One small suggestion: the schedule for when Palms is buffet vs. à la carte could be clearer, as we accidentally turned up expecting one and got the other. Also, a gentle request to the entertainment/sound team — the evening performances (especially the steel drums, which we love!) were a touch too loud to comfortably hold a conversation while dining, to the point my Apple Watch flagged the noise level and my boyfriend needed earplugs. Turning it down just slightly would make a big difference. One area for improvement: Unfortunately, we’ve had repeated negative experiences with one specific reception staff member, who has been curt and talked back during check-in — something we’ve now experienced on multiple visits, and my parents have had the same issue with him. Arriving after a long travel day is when guests most need a warm welcome, and this really isn’t the first impression Couples should be giving. That said, this is very much the exception — every other staff member was wonderful, and Benita on reception in particular was warm and welcoming. We visited Couples Swept Away at the end of January and unfortunately experienced some truly unprecedented bad weather, which meant we couldn’t enjoy everything the resort has to offer. The weather obviously wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but it did have an impact on our holiday. There were plenty of positives. The food was consistently excellent, and I loved that you can book the à la carte restaurants as many times as you like rather than being restricted to one or two visits. It’s a great option if, like us, you prefer table service over a buffet. The beach is stunning, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and the staff were friendly throughout our stay. The biggest disappointment for us was the evening entertainment. The main entertainment takes place in the buffet restaurant, so it doesn’t feel like a dedicated entertainment venue. It’s quite bright and lacks the atmosphere you’d expect for an evening show, especially as people are still eating dinner while it’s on. This also ends early. Once that finishes, the only evening entertainment is the piano bar. The piano bar is essentially a large karaoke night. We met several guests who return to the resort year after year some told us they’d visited more than 40 times (not joking) which creates a lovely community feel for returning guests. However, as first-time visitors, we found the evenings became a little repetitive and would have appreciated a bit more variety in the entertainment. A huge shout-out to Big Al in the piano bar, who was fantastic. He was full of personality, made us some brilliant shots and always helped create a fun atmosphere. We’d also like to mention Marky and Delon from the entertainment team, who worked incredibly hard, were always around chatting to guests and encouraging everyone to get involved in the activities. They were a real credit to the resort. One small thing to note is that if you’re staying in one of the rooms at the back of the resort, you can occasionally hear traffic from the road. It wasn’t a major issue for us, but it’s worth being aware of if you’re a particularly light sleeper. Overall, Couples Swept Away has a lot going for it: fantastic food, a beautiful beach, lovely staff and a relaxed atmosphere. While we think the evening entertainment could be improved with a dedicated venue and more variety, we still had an enjoyable stay and would recommend it to couples looking for a peaceful Caribbean escape.

What an incredible vacation! Couples Swept Away exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. The beautiful beach, lush grounds, and relaxed atmosphere made it the perfect place to unwind. What really made this trip unforgettable was the amazing staff. A huge thank you to Dwight at the bar for taking such great care of my sister and me all week. You made every visit fun and welcoming! Chase at the buffet went above and beyond with his outstanding service. Not only did he always greet us with a smile, but he also recommended and brought us fresh coconut for breakfast, which became one of our favorite vacation memories. A special shout-out to Tajay at Watersports for taking us out on a Hobie Cat. It was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our trip. There’s nothing quite like sailing across the Caribbean with that incredible view! And finally, Verline on the catamaran tour was absolutely fantastic. She kept everyone laughing from start to finish, had so much energy, and made the excursion even more memorable. To everyone at Couples Swept Away, thank you for making us feel so welcome. We left with amazing memories and can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic! Such a layed back and relaxing resort with all the water sport activities you need without ever leaving. The food was delicious, the drinks flowed & the staff is awesome as usual. This was our 2nd stay & we brought another couple with us. They have travelled to many places & agreed that Swept Away & Jamaica can’t be beat. Make sure you take advantage of all of the included water sports. So many people miss out on everything that is included! We always found the food to be great with maybe a couple of things not agreeing with our taste buds but overall the food was excellent! If you like lamb make sure to order it. We had it at 3 different restaurants & it was cooked to perfection every time. They serve premium liquor and the beer was cold! The staff is fun & friendly. If you want elegance this is probably not the resort for you. If you want charm, beautiful landscape grounds, delicious food with plenty of choices, drinks made with premium liquor & the friendly/happy Jamaican staff then this is exactly the place for you! Seven mile beach is gorgeous. You can walk in both directions. Yes, you will get solicited by the beach vendors but a polite “no thank you” & keep walking worked just fine for us. No problem, after all the vendors are just try to make a living. It was definitely hot but between the sea & the pools we were able to cool off easily. Do yourself a favor, don’t overpack. You will be in a swim suit the majority of time! We will definitely return! Ya Mon!
