Riu Montego Bay

2 weeks break in mid June . Great location , on the beach and 10 mins in the car from airport . Very clean hotel , arrived after 10 pm and there was plenty of food to eat in the 24hr sports bar , the reception are friendly enough but do listen to the costs of u lose your wrist band $250 room key card $25 towel card $20 they add it to your bill at end of stay . The room was lovely and clean , aircon is the best we’ve experienced , tv channels very poor . Comfortable bed and fridge filled every other day along with optics . Shower is nice but basic , no rain shower . We had constant trouble with the key cards as they needed regular swiping at reception , even though we kept them separate to phones , we also had the engineers out 3 times as the battery in the door stopped working , leaving us waiting outside our room for long periods , the housekeeping is fantastic , they work very hard so plz tip them . The food at this place we found was fab , plenty of selection and always fresh , no issues at all . The entertainment was good especially the pre show , the main shows are good but very humid and the mosquitos love u lol the entertainers were the best we’ve experienced , they are funny , welcoming and work so so hard throughout the day . The beach is lovely too , plenty of bed chairs for everyone , no need to reserve at all . The pools do get warm during the day . The pool bar is a complete waste of Time , It’s full of American folk who love to be heard and they gather in big groups . Honestly not worth the visit . The other pools are all good . We got given an upgrade due to a flooded room from storm on the 1st floor , they gave us ocean view and wow well worth it . Over all we had a great time . Pros : near airport On the beach Great shopping village opposite Entertainers lovely Food great Drinks are good too , Plenty of variety Cons : constant tipping expected No aircon in reception area Constant probs with key card Dominate Americans throughout Mosquito Constant smell of weed

Was very wary as our hotel was changed but overall was extremely happy. All the staff were professional and friendly. Did not find it to be too much of a party hotel. We asked for a quiet room and we were delighted in block 4 overlooking the splash pool. Rate the Riu app all questions dealt with quickly. The house keeping staff are very good. Special thanks to Chevelle (I think that is how it was spelt) in the buffet restaurant who went above and beyond every day but especially on our anniversary. Also a big shout out to all the lifeguards get chatting to them they are a wealth of information. Also like to mention gardeners and hotel cleaners always give you a happy smile and hello. Restaurants main buffet great if you can’t find something to eat you’re not looking hard enough. Steak house we used 3 times. Thanks Mario for coping with the English woman with a very small stomach. Did not like Italian or Chinese but probably just personal preference. The K one had the best ambience the food was good but only tried it once as we both had what we wanted off the menu. Things to improve more water stations, also more coffee machines in the blocks perhaps, as not everyone wants 24/7 alcohol . We did think more coffee water in the rooms but we had taken a kettle and Nescafé 3in 1. Reception staff could be more friendly and didn’t understand the Yorkshire accent but lol you don’t need to talk to them much. Shout out to Tui reps Tracy and Radcliffe they welcome stupid questions

This was my 3rd visit in 3 years with my son. The food was a bit repetitive. Loved the Steakhouse, the service was also excellent and professional to say the least. Rooms are a slightly dated and could do with being brightened up a bit. On the up side, the view from our room was great!! We could see Riu Palace and hear their daily entertainments, and we had a very good view of the beach. Would also like to mention the big, bad and beautiful Roly Poly, she knows how to get the audience involved, also Astro what an absolutely wonderful young man, he never failed to say hello and he sat with us during the entertainment nights on a couple of occasions. And last but most definitely not least the great Triple X what a man. I loved watching him dance he’s a brilliant dancer and a lovely sweet man!! All in all the entertainment was really good, the beach party’s were very entertaining. A Lively Hotel and a massive improvement with the ENT Crew this year, their dancing and entertainment nights were on point!! If you love to party, this is the Hotel for you!!

The front desk staff was warm and welcoming they made our stay possible

My wife and I finally took the honeymoon we never had after getting married during COVID. We booked our stay through RIU Vacations and were excited to spend several days at RIU Montego Bay. Unfortunately, airline issues delayed our arrival by two days. We immediately contacted RIU Vacations each time there was a disruption and were repeatedly assured that they would work with us once we arrived at the resort. Based on those assurances, we adjusted our return flights and continued with our trip. Once we arrived, however, the story changed. We spent a large portion of what should have been our honeymoon making phone calls, being transferred between departments, speaking with supervisors, and receiving conflicting information. We were told the hotel wasn’t responding, while hotel staff indicated they had not received the communications RIU Vacations claimed were sent. The most disappointing part was not the airline delays. Travel problems happen. The disappointment came from being repeatedly told that RIU Vacations would work with us, only to arrive and find ourselves fighting for answers and a resolution. To be clear, the staff at the resort have been friendly, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. My complaint is not with the hotel employees. My complaint is with RIU Vacations and the lack of follow-through after multiple assurances that our situation would be addressed.
