Riu Ocho Rios

We have been here many times before and have enjoyed it. We appreciate things have to evolve and change over time but although the hotel is good on the whole, the entertainment is very poor. We have noticed that the events have become very lazy for example last night was ment to be a beach party, just a speaker set up on the beach and no interaction from the entertainment staff and lots of American dance music. Also the staff don't seem very happy and only speak to those who are waving dollar bills. Feeling disappointed

Stay at RIU is excellent as usual. Services were great; staff were awesome and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay. My room was clean and comfortable with beautiful views, the staff was great, and I enjoyed the food. The resort itself was beautiful, and aside from a couple of issues, my experience was excellent. My biggest disappointment was the lack of access to the advertised/included watersports. I specifically choose resorts based on the watersports offered, so this was important to me. Although I could see guests at the nearby Sandals resort enjoying watersports, the RIU Sports counter repeatedly told me that activities such as kayaking and pedal boats were unavailable. The only water activity I was able to do was tubing, which I did twice with a local provider. I was also disappointed that I was not allowed to use the snorkeling equipment unless I went on a tour with them, even though snorkeling gear is listed as part of the all-inclusive amenities. I really wish I had brought my own equipment. If snorkeling is important to you, I would recommend bringing your own gear so you aren’t dependent on availability through the resort. My only other complaint was the mattress—it was extremely uncomfortable for me. The silver lining was that it got me out of bed early every morning and gave me more time to enjoy Jamaica! 😂 Those issues aside, the rest of my experience was wonderful. Great views, a clean resort, friendly staff, good food, and an overall beautiful stay. I would just encourage the resort to make sure the watersports advertised as included are actually accessible to guests, or clearly communicate any restrictions before arrival.

- very clean (staff maintain the environment well) - events encourage us to learn about Jamaican culture, embrace it whilst having fun - staff in all departments are respectful which brought an enlightening feeling to the holiday - the views, the food was amazing and unforgettable - there are a lot of activities for all age groups to enjoy - variety of food options

Had a great time at the property was even given an upgrade to ocean view for free . Only drawback I was expecting more variety in buffet too much repeat but apart from that food was ok something is there for everyone .
