NH Collection Maldives Reethi Resort

Our stay in the water villa in the Maldives was nothing short of magical. Waking up each morning to the endless shades of turquoise, stepping straight from our villa into the crystal-clear lagoon, and watching the sunset from our private deck felt like a dream we never wanted to end. The villa itself was beautifully designed, spotless, and offered the perfect balance of luxury and comfort. A very special thank you to Rashed, who truly made our experience unforgettable. He went above and beyond every single day — always ensuring our room was beautifully prepared and immaculately clean. The thoughtful touches never went unnoticed. Beyond that, Rashed’s warm personality and lovely conversations made us feel so welcome and at home. Overall staff were amazing, welcoming and helpful and couldn’t fault anything.

Been snorkelling in the Maldives for over 30 years to many islands. This is our fourth visit to Reethi, the first after the renovations under NH. We stayed in a water villa for 2 weeks on AI. Much has been improved : Kid's club, internal courts and gym, excellent coffee everywhere, good hairdryer, Nespresso machine with plenty of pods including decaff, large letters on bathroom products (essential if you need specs!), many things on request. We saw iron and ironing board and kettles going out to rooms. New additional pool, revamped bar, new sunset bar, rum bar, revamped dining room all manned by lovely staff. However, snorkellers will want to know what the reef was like. It seems to us there is a trend in the Maldives of new owners putting in pools to get 5* rating so they can put up prices. They don't really want divers or snorkellers but young people who will come for a few days and spend a lot of money (witnessed by the extraordinary number of influencers being entertained by the resort). See also my review of Nova in 2025. Snorkellers need to ask : is there a good house reef? Is there a marine biologist on site? Are there any marine film shows? Does the dive centre offer night snorkelling? Is there clear communication (maps/briefings) about the reef and access points? Is there an explanation of tides? (You may not want this but it is an indicator of whether snorkellers are prioritised). The reef is still there but the answer to everything else is No. There is a reef snorkel (on many islands a free daily event) chargeable at $55 which was a joke. I went on one with 8 others to find we were on the reef edge with one person who had not only never snorkelled but couldn't even swim! I pointed out two of the three things we saw: shark, moray and the leader brought us all back to shore over the top of the reef at low tide - very dangerous in choppy water. Two of the three access channels are no longer clear, but the reef is still good and fish plentiful and varied. The management tell me they are going to share a Marine Biologist with three other islands. Global warming means the monsoon changes are not happening in December. So it is windy and the sea is choppier than expected in Jan and Feb. Lots of zooplankton in the water means visibility is not as good as expected. Morning snorkels were better than pm when often very difficult to see (which is why clear access points are so important). I often had to help people get in to get to the reef. Standing on coral to get out was a common sight especially from the Chinese. There are dividers between the beach villas, they all have private areas in front of them. this means you can only access the beach from the sunset bar or the rum bar area or your villa. Nearly all the beach villas are on the west side where there is a beautiful stretch of soft beach. It takes 15 mins to walk the length of the beach or the island. the internal paths are very rough, you will need sandals. You cannot walk around the island on the beach because of severe sand erosion on the East side. Food in the main restaurant is mixed. Bakery and desserts are outstanding, main course less so. It must be 10 years since I have seen chicken bacon and sausages and beef bacon and sausages with no pork bacon for breakfast. Meat quality was very variable. hardly any whole fish served. They know they need to improve and it did get slightly better over the 2 weeks. You can book at the Grill or Thai restaurant and have the set menu (choice of 3). The grill was very good. Couldn't try the Thai restaurant as everything contained Chili which my husband can't tolerate. So, AI, FB or HB? Dinner at Jumla and set menus cost $110, but there was also a la carte in the grill and Thai restaurant. Pizzas in the bar cost $20. Mini bar prices: half bottle wine $20, Coke and soft drinks (330ml) $6 Spirits (50ml) $10. In the bar: Glass of wine $9, coffee $6. REMEMBER all prices are marked up by 27% for taxes and service charge. Apart from lovely gentle live music most nights during dinner, all entertainment STARTED at 10pm. Sadly all dhonis gone, replaced by speedboats which doesn't help sand erosion and choppiness in the water for snorkellers. All water villas face North, so none have a sunset view. If that's important, go for a beach villa. I don't know why but there are serious sand fly issues here. There was even spraying of the sand itself to try to control it. Mosquitos are there but the sand fly bites were obvious on most guests. We still have the marks 4 weeks later. Reethi used to be famous for its no-mosquitos hall mark- no longer. The NH staff at Male airport were also great. They steered us through the melee of the airport to the Reethi lounge and on to the seaplane and collected us on return. An excellent service, much appreciated. Apart from revisiting the reef, the staff made this holiday for us. Is it enough to make us go back? Sadly I doubt it.

We had an amazing stay at this resort! The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, especially Rashed who went above and beyond for us at our water villa, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the amenities exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was relaxing, and everything was well-maintained. It was the perfect getaway, and we can’t wait to come back!

This was our 13th visit to the the Maldives and Reethi Resort did not disappoint. It has recently been refurbished and the Villas, Bars and Restaurants were of exceptional standard. The food at Jumla restaurant was great with plenty of choice and both Kaiyo and Alifaan speciality restaurants provided an unforgettable experience. From the GM to the gardeners all the staff were welcoming, friendly, with nothing too much trouble. It is difficult to single people out, all of Alla's restaurant team were exceptional but our special thanks go to Surajit, Sneha, Bharati, Karuna Lama, Queen and Meenga We would also thank Valentin for sorting out repairs to our suitcase damaged on the International flight. And then there is the House Reef Easily accessible from the beach with gentle currents, every snorkel was magical, we saw Eagle Rays, Turtles, Reef Sharks and Octopus along with the abundant and colourful fish All in all an unforgettable holiday, we thoroughly recommend this resort and hopefully will be back soon

We have visited NH collection Maldives Reethi resort (Reethi beach resort) for the ninth time – and for us, it truly is paradise. This visit was especially exciting, as the island has just been renovated, and we were very curious to see the result. We are happy to say that they have done an outstanding job. Most importantly, they have preserved the island’s natural beauty. Even with new pathways added around the island, everything has been done tastefully and thoughtfully, surrounded by lush vegetation that keeps the authentic tropical atmosphere intact. The rooms were in need of an upgrade, and the result is beautiful. The colors are soft and relaxing. The new bathroom is stylish and refined, with lovely tiles and a fresh, luxurious feel. The new bed, complete with a proper duvet, provides comfort. On the terrace of our water villa, the large and comfortable sunbed with a high-quality mattress quickly became one of our favorite spots to relax and enjoy the stunning turquoise views, and with a direct stair to the fantastic reef. The restaurants have also received a beautiful upgrade and new names, along with new menus. It took us a few days to adjust to the changes, but we soon discovered that the food is even better than on our previous visits. It is now possible to enjoy light meals at the Artdeco Bar (formerly Sunset Bar), which has been beautifully renovated with brand-new sunbeds, umbrellas, and a completely new bar area. At Madumaithiri Bar (formerly the Main Bar), they have added a pizza station serving fantastic pizza throughout the day — a wonderful addition that we truly appreciated. The new pool in front of Madumaithiri is beautifully set, and gives a very nice and open view from the bar and from the Jumla restaurant. In the past, we enjoyed most of our meals at Kaiyo (formerly Modhoo). After the renovation, the restaurant now serves Asian cuisine, which is absolutely delicious. However, it did not suit us quite as well for lunch each day. So then, we found ourselves enjoying many lunches and several dinners at Jumla (formerly the Main Restaurant), where both the food and the service were outstanding. Alifan (formerly Reethi Grill), with its new menu, served fantastic food and quickly became another favorite during our stay. That being said, what truly makes this resort so special is the staff and the service. Sajan has been there since our very first visit, and he always does everything he can to make sure we have an amazing holiday. We truly look forward to seeing him every time we return. It was also so lovely to see Majid, Reefa, Sandeep, and Allu again — they all make our holiday extra special. We also had the pleasure of meeting several new team members: Karina, Sneha, Melly, Bachkari, Suraj, queen, and Shahid — all of whom we will remember with a smile. And of course, Vikram, who took such wonderful care of our room. There are also many others whose names we unfortunately did not catch, but who equally contributed to making our stay exceptional. We would also like to compliment the management team, who were genuinely interested in hearing our thoughts about the renovation and whether anything could be improved. We truly felt valued and very well taken care of, and it was clear that everyone was doing their very best to ensure that we had a wonderful experience, so thank you! Returning here always feels like coming home — and we hope to see you all for our tenth visit.
