My wife and I have just returned from a 2 week stay in a ground floor beach room. We we're fortunate to visit the Maldives last year too, but on that occasion we stayed in the 5 star you and me resort, which was superb. So I provide this review with the hindsight of a comparable experience. Pros of the riu It's staff, they are across the board a real credit to the hotel. Everyone we encountered, be it from hospitality, housekeeping or the grounds keepers appeared really happy in their work and looked after the resort and it's guests excellently. Everywhere from the toilets to the grounds is spotlessly maintained and the young man who cleans the toilets in the hospitality area deserves a pay rise, he does a fantastic job and always had time to greet you as you entered and exited. The beaches and reef made the holiday for us, the access to the beach directly from our room was brilliant and we were fortunate enough to have a quiet and well behaved fellow guests, in our little block of rooms. The reef was superb and despite the current being strong on occasion the access to it is a real plus for the hotel and the guests. We saw reef sharks, a sting ray and countless beautiful fish during our snorkeling visits and countless baby sharks from our sun loungers daily, as they meandered past on the waters edge. Food, although self service the quality was really good and the choices available at every meal time was excellent. We ate in the Italian and beef restaurants, both were good and we enjoyed the food in both. The gym, we visited it almost every morning and it too is good, well equipped and air conditioned. Cons Long wait for the internal transfer plane, this was unexpected and not mentioned in our booking. We sat for over 4hrs awaiting the domestic flight, this in a waiting area minus aircon or any real comfortable seating. Door to door for us was 23hrs, so it is a long old haul! Entertainment Average at best, this is no slight on the entertainment staff and acts, who do their very best to manage language barriers, but it was average at best and at times we left to go and sit elsewhere. Pool Not for us, it is well presented and the pool bar staff are great fun, but sadly it was overrun with heavy drinkers, mostly Russian and mostly rude! We described the pool area during the day as Wetherspoons in the sun. Overall we enjoyed our trip, if you seek a more lively maldivian holiday with plenty of alcohol then the Rui could be for you. If you seek a traditional Maldivian style holiday the perhaps it isn't for you.

Well where do I start what a place and what wonderful service we received off every single member of staff nothing was ever too much and they were so nice pity some people treated them so bad it was disgusting probably the worst of people I've seen for rudeness and lack of manners . We had an ocean front room which was so nice open the patio doors straight onto the beach.Rooms where cleaned whenever we requested and minibar was filled everyday .The food was plentiful and was delicious always something for everyone .We used the Italian a la carte and steakhouse twice and each time it didn't disappoint .Special mention to thaney and phillipe in the dining room two really great people ,thanks for the banter .A special mention to marchee in the sports bar never stopped topping us up with drinks .we went on the dolphin cruise and were lucky enough to see bottlenose dolphins and spinner dolphins it was a special time .Overall would I come back too right I would and we definitely will and on the atoll side again

We had such an amazing stay at Riu Atoll Maldives and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better first holiday with our baby. The resort is beautiful, with direct access to the beach and the most incredible views. Our room was always spotless, and the housekeeping team were brilliant and so attentive. The food was 10/10 — so much choice and everything we tried was delicious. What really made our stay special, though, were the staff. A huge thank you to Thaney, Faiz, Yossaf and Rona, who were absolutely incredible. They always remembered us, checked that we were comfortable and were so attentive with our baby. Even the little things, like making sure we had everything we needed at mealtimes and checking in on us throughout our meals, made such a difference. Charuka, Susy, Rose and Krish were also fantastic. They always greeted us with a smile, were so friendly and made us feel like nothing was ever too much trouble. Those little personal touches really stood out and made us feel genuinely welcome. As this was our first family holiday with our baby, having such a caring and attentive team around us made the whole experience so much easier and more enjoyable. It’s the people who really make a holiday, and the team at Riu Atoll made ours one we will never forget. ❤️ Thank you for an amazing stay — we would love to come back! 🇲🇻🌴

This was the best holiday we have ever had! I travelled with my children, aged 18 and 21. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and there was always plenty to choose from at the buffet. We had the all-inclusive package, which I highly recommend! Our guide, Cloudy, whom we booked three excursions with, was absolutely amazing. Everything was clean and beautiful, and we were met with smiles everywhere. The beach was peaceful, with plenty of sun loungers, and it was incredibly clean and beautiful. We stayed in one of the water bungalows furthest out and saw stingrays and lots of other marine life every day. The snorkelling right by the beach was lovely, but I also recommend taking a guided snorkelling trip. We saw so many colourful fish and turtles—it was truly magical! We also went on a jet ski tour and a dolphin trip, and saw so many dolphins that it almost felt unreal. During the jet ski tour, they stayed with us for around 20 minutes, following us and putting on a show. We will definitely be back as soon as our holiday fund has filled up again!
