The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives

This was our first trip to the Maldives, and we felt looked after from the moment we arrived. We got to the resort early in the morning, well before check-in. Eva was so welcoming and arranged a temporary room for us to freshen up and rest after the long journey. We really appreciated that. We tried Kula, BBQ Shak, Guduguda and Onda, and the service was great at all of them. Onda was our favourite though. It was quiet, had a lovely atmosphere, and we really enjoyed the food. A special thank you to Shak at Onda. When we mentioned that the following night would be our last evening on the island, he arranged a lovely table for our final dinner. The chef and kitchen team also surprised us with a special dessert. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made the evening even more memorable. Thanks to Eva, Shak, the chef and everyone at the resort for making our first Maldives holiday so special.

Such an amazing resort with incredible staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming and happy for a chat - we loved hearing where everyone was from - India, Morocco, Indonesia, Zimbabwe! Eva was amazing - she booked everything for us - thank you!! Kids club was fantastic - our 9yo had a fab time - thank you Riddhi, Lama, Marina and Shammi!!! I had a fabulous massage - I am so sorry I forgot his name but he is also the yoga teacher! I would love to come back one day - the fishing trip and snorkel trip were also stand outs as was the dolphin cruise! Thank you for such a wonderful holiday!!!

The Standard is a beautiful island with an amazing atmosphere. I’m so happy that The Standard was my first experience in the Maldives. All the staff on the island are incredibly nice and friendly, and they always say hi whenever they pass by. A special shout-out to our host, Fiona. She is incredibly attentive, warm, and professional. She went above and beyond to help us with all our needs and promptly solved any questions or issues we had. We truly appreciated her hospitality and care, which made our stay even more wonderful.

From the moment we stepped onto the island, we knew we were somewhere special. Zianu welcomed us so warmly right from the start, seamlessly sorting out our restaurant bookings and setting the perfect tone for our entire holiday. Thank you Zianu! The cuisine across the resort is absolutely truly spectacular, Oh my days levels of delicious! We had the absolute pleasure of meeting the culinary masterminds behind the food: Chef Ashish at ONDA and Chef Rajhi at BBQ Shack. They possess extraordinary talent and are just the loveliest people to chat with. The staff here are next-level, and we genuinely miss seeing these wonderful faces every single day!! Shaka (ONDA Restaurant) is an absolutely lovely human being with incredible customer service. On my birthday I was completely overwhelmed by the effort the team went to. Shaka had a table ready for me with "Happy Birthday" beautifully written out in coffee beans! I couldn't believe he took the time to do that. He made it my most memorable birthday celebration ever. The Todis Bar Team (Inaz, Dorah, Billal, and Saikumar) just absolute superstars! They brought such amazing energy to our days, making us feel so welcome and looked after every time we dropped by. Humja mixed us the most amazing cocktails on the island and consistently went out of his way to make us feel incredibly special. Sai, we first met him at Kula and gladly followed him over to the BBQ Shack! We loved our daily interactions with him, especially chatting about cricket, his love for King Kohli, and of course, Ricky Ponting. He constantly ensured we had everything we needed and recommended the most fabulous dishes on the menu. Thank you to Rubel (Housekeeping) you kept our room absolutely pristine and added such a wonderful, thoughtful touch to our daily island experience. Eumi, you truly touched my heart with your genuine kindness, warmth, and hospitality. I hope you enjoyed your break with your family. Thank you again to the entire team at The Standard for a beautiful, heart-warming stay. We cannot recommend this paradise enough!

We had a wonderful stay at The Standard Maldives. The staff were friendly (like everyone!!) and welcoming, and as we were celebrating our honeymoon and my husband’s birthday, we were greeted with a lovely bottle of champagne and a birthday cake. Such a thoughtful touch! We signed up for four activities, including swimming with sea turtles. While the instructor was very friendly and amazing, we felt the overall safety arrangements for this excursion could have been much better. The instructor took the safety ring with her and swam ahead to locate the turtles, leaving us in the open ocean. As a family travelling with our 3.5-year-old son, we would have appreciated having our own safety ring before entering the water. Although my husband is a strong swimmer and our son wore a life vest, he still felt uncomfortable without a safety ring. When asking for another safety ring the captain refused to give us one and said you have a vest, don’t worry. The boat was also quite far from us. Having additional safety rings secured to the boat and keeping it closer to the group would have made a significant difference, especially for non-swimmers like myself. Everyone has a different comfort level in the ocean, and even another guest on board expressed feeling afraid when the instructor swam ahead without the group. These are important safety considerations, particularly when families with young children are involved. We hope the resort will take this feedback constructively and review the safety arrangements for future excursions. Apart from this experience, we genuinely enjoyed our stay and had a lovely time with The Standard team. Thank you to each of you for making our special occasion memorable! PS.
