Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa

I had only a spa booking, but the whole atmosphere and team, and Mme Sharmila who took care of me, was the best.. loved it

Location was great the beach was just in front of the hotel and private The Atmosphere was also great with families and business people The rooms where out of this world were had the wedding room as we got married there. The staff went out of there way to make sure we had everything thing we needed Value was excellent Cleanliness was great Noise levels was very quiet even as we sat on the balcony having breakfast All amenities where fantastic the pool was especially gorgeous We where married on the beach and for the price we paid it was really good the tours they offered was excellent we went on a safari tour which was so informative I would love to go and stay here again

Framing this review in the context of a 5 star hotel, therefore, high standards are expected; Positives * Rooms superb - very modern and very clean * Wi-Fi generally very good, although does inexplicably drop out occasionally (to be expected given global location) * Housekeeping is fantastic * Grounds are immaculate, constantly being cleaned and tidied * 90% of staff are brilliant, can’t do enough for you to ensure an enjoyable stay * Pools are lovely and very well kept * Watersports (fnar), table tennis, pool table and board games are free and very good * Thai and (especially) Indian restaurants are very good. Negatives * Food and (especially) drink prices are very expensive and don’t reflect local prices in any shape or form * 10% of staff seem undertrained and uninterested * Too many staff directed to the wrong tasks - I don’t need somebody to pour my water at my meal when I’m waiting 20 minutes for a drink at the bar beforehand * Charging for table water is unforgivable at a 5 star hotel * Inconsistently being asked the sign for things, for example, we were asked to sign a zero balance check for a half board meal - why?!? * Far too many supplement charges for half board/full board meals, probably two thirds of the menu items cost additional to what you’ve already paid for full/half board * Coquillages evening menu is terrible * The food options at some of the themed nights in the buffet restaurant are shocking, Mauritian night being the worst offender * Breakfast isn’t the best, chicken sausages are gross and in a hotel that caters mostly for Europeans, having loads of curry type options is baffling * Lunch menu is mostly full meals, would benefit from more snacks, sandwiches, etc. * Extremely limited and overpriced (for food/drinks) on-site shop * Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and it’s either a taxi ride or a half hour walk to get to a supermarket and another 10 minutes to Flic en Flac Notes (not affecting the hotel score but worth knowing before booking) * Flic en Flac is not a particularly nice area, there are very limited bar and restaurant options and it’s just a bit grim - we expected far more given our research prior to arriving * The weather is very unpredictable (although always warm). In 10 days we didn’t have one full day of sunshine. I’m aware that Mauritius is a tropical island but expected better * If Flic en Flac beach is one of the best on the island I would hate to see the rest. Lots of broken coral on the shoreline and on the seabed. Not very warm either. I love swimming in the sea but went in twice in 10 days. * Generally speaking the majority of tourists are Germans, then French. Just saying…. * There is a lot to see and do on Mauritius which is great, given the weather * Apart from the big shopping mall, Port Louis is a dump Despite the negatives, it is a nice place generally and we had a nice time generally. Would we return? No, we will probably try Mauritius again but next time in Grand Baie where there is allegedly more to do in the resort.

Overall, this resort is a calm and beautiful place to stay. Our experience with service varied throughout the stay, but issues we had were rectified apologetically by staff. Our stay started well as we were welcomed with welcome cocktails upon arrival. Diamond members receive complimentary breakfast and one cocktail and canapés per day (6-9pm) at the Sunset Bar, which has beautiful views. On the first couple nights, prompt service was provided. On the last couple of nights, the bartending staff only focused on serving what appeared to be a wedding rehearsal party, which is understandable, but I believe the Diamond reception should have been moved to allow the rehearsal their space. It would also be nice just to have a set happy hour. Staff appeared confused when we presented our drink tickets and we rarely received canapés. Breakfast had plentiful options. Additionally, we were invited to a happy hour for diamond members during one of the days with additional cocktails and canapés. That was a nice experience and would be great to hold nightly. Shuba was very kind and attentive. Plentiful chairs on the beach. It never felt crowded. Two pools, one is adults only infinity pools. Decent size fitness room. Housekeeping, Anjani, was fabulous. She greeted us and always asked if we needed anything. They come by multiple times a day. And at least 4 bottles of water were provided complimentary. We dined at all three restaurants: Our favorite was the Seafood restaurant, but the staff were incredible at all locations. They really strive to go above and beyond. We had some issues with requesting a late check out and some discrepancies amongst the staff. Devansh was very helpful to rectify this issue and allow us to stay late and enjoy our stay longer. Overall, it is a calm and peaceful resort.

We visited Mauritius for 5 nights and were celebrating momentous occasions. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, I can honestly say that the experience at the Hilton Mauritius was truly the best. Many Thanks to Eva Muscheis for assisting me in delivering a truly remarkable surprise and the generosity shown most definitely enhanced in delivering an unforgettable experience. The continuous support provided in helping me deliver this remarkable surprise which I can sincerely say that without Eva’s help I would never been able to deliver this magical surprise. Our overall experience was fantastic both in the F&B and Recreation sections.The beach and pool experience was always amazing. I cannot thank enough the “Best In Class” team, from the concierge to restaurants to the pool and recreation and reception teams, you truly are an asset to the hotel! I would highly recommend staying in the exceptional Family Suites, we had a room on level 3 which was really luxurious and spacious and really comfortable. Amenities provided were great, the housekeeping was twice a day an impeccable. The breakfast was fantastic and the gym was at a good standard. To summarise, Hilton Mauritius was truly unforgettable and mind blowing. We are still reminiscing about our time. Hotel location is fantastic, expansive pools and beach with the Cascavelle mall 15 mins taxi ride. There is also abundant of restaurants just 5 minutes taxi ride. Anyone planning a luxurious stay in Mauritius book the Hilton you will NOT be disappointed. I cannot emphasise enough the luxury and “Best In Class” team @ the Hilton Mauritius. We are already planning our stay next year!
