LUX* Grand Gaube

We stayed at LUX Grand Gaube for a week to celebrate our wedding, and I can honestly say it was the best week of my life. Having all our friends and family together in such a beautiful setting was incredibly special. The buffet and a la carte restaurants were delicious, the evening entertainment was fantastic, and the disco on our wedding night was a particular highlight. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful views and a lovely beach. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend the hotel. Unfortunately, the organisation of our wedding day itself left me feeling very disappointed. I don’t feel it’s fair to go into too much detail, particularly as the hotel has since made efforts to put things right by offering a complimentary family meal at INTI and financial compensation. While I appreciate these gestures, I would, of course, have much rather had the smooth, stress-free wedding day we had planned. I do want to highlight that the management team were amazing in how they handled the situation afterwards. They were compassionate, understanding and genuinely seemed to care about how we felt. However, I also feel it’s only fair to share my experience of Nitisha’s organisation so that future brides can make an informed decision. I was surprised to read so many positive reviews about her wedding planning, as unfortunately, my own experience was very different. The lack of organisation on our wedding day made what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives feel chaotic and, at times, like a complete shambles. I’m naturally quite laid-back, and I think the hotel was lucky that I remained as calm as I did throughout the day, because I imagine many brides would have been pushed to their limits by the same experience. I would still recommend LUX* Grand Gaube as a wedding destination because the hotel itself is beautiful, and the management team were wonderful when addressing our concerns. However, based on my experience, I would strongly recommend considering an external wedding planner to help ensure your special day runs as smoothly as it should.

From the moment I walked into the Lux Grand Gaube I was met with warmth and a beautiful smile. Every single staff member here made my trip absolutely mind blowing, they’re incredible sincerity, genuine morals, attention to detail and they’re mastery of consumer experience shows from top to bottom of the entire resort, from owners, to the management and to the staff on the floor every single one of them are incredible. Best resort I’ve ever stayed in by far. Every morning you walk to breakfast and they all greet you with positivity, a good morning and a smile. I had my birthday here on my own as seen in the photos and there were easily over 100 staff members wishing me a happy birthday. I have to thank every single one of you - all the most lovely and heart warming people. The LUX understand what you want when you stay at a nice resort/hotel. They take care of everything and check constantly to ensure you have everything. They look after you constantly and also offer everything you need to have a great trip right at your door. I wish I had stayed for my entire trip here rather than go to the other hotel RIU as I had already booked everything months prior - it was my first time coming to Mauritius so I wasn’t sure how everything would go as I needed to explore. We have just returned from our 6th or 7th stay at this hotel. We were there 3 weeks so it’s fair to say we like it. As you enter the hotel you will see it has extensive grounds and when you arrive at the main entrance the view through them to the ocean beyond is beautiful. On arrival you check in with Yosra or one of her colleagues who, when your room is ready, escort you to it. The hotel has 5 main restaurants and a burger bar and two beaches. Beaches first. The largest is for families, the smallest adult only. Both beaches have people on hand to bring you drinks or food if you require it. Reedoo, Kumar and Liam look after the main beach, Veer and his colleague the adult beach, which also has an unheated swimming pool. Now the restaurants. The biggest is Palm Court. It’s a self service restaurant for breakfast and diner. Self service does not really do it justice. Breakfast has everything a healthy appetite needs and most of it is cooked fresh. Try one of Veena’s chilli omelettes! Of an evening there is Italian, pasta cooked fresh, Asian, Indian,Mauritian food available. Plus a good old roast. Staff here will bring you your drinks. The restaurant is looked after by John, Jason, and they are helped by Ashwin Renu, Kevin , Freddie Thierey and many more. The lovely Sophie will escort you to your table. Inti. This holiday I didn’t have time to use this Fine dining Peruvian restaurant, sorry Pedro the chef, next time for sure. The smoke house restaurant with Ashwan and Riccardo, is set in a grove of banyan trees. A quiet magical place at night. Serves authentic Mauritian curries. Beach Rouge, the restaurant on the beach. Sometimes literally on the beach as the staff will put tables on it if you have a special occasion. Akshay, Nund, Veemal, Sarah, Yoshoda, are on hand to make sure you enjoy the cooking of Doorgesh and Givani. This restaurant is open for lunch and diner. Lastly Bodrums. Open for lunch and diner but if you are a honeymooner the also offer breakfast for a special occasion. The restaurant is overseen by Durgesh, helped by Purgan and the chef Bilal. The restaurant serves Turkish food in one of the best locations you can imagine. A rocky outlet into the ocean. My wife and I never ate the same meal twice the choice is so good. The accommodation. I have stayed in one of the suites but prefer a basic room on the ground floor. The suites are lovely with outdoor bath and little garden but personal choice is a ground floor room for me. Our room was always immaculate thanks to Kumal. If you are all inclusive the mini bar is well stocked. For families there is a kids club and a place for teenagers to hang out. They both have activities laid on. Sports wise there are tennis courts, paddle board and a gym and golf course. Of a night time there is live music, can be a bit loud, in the bar. Overseen by Dookhun and Kershal.the main bar wraps around the heated pool. Cafe Lux, run by Sylvano and Chetan is the place for a coffee day or evening. All these restaurants etc are overseen by Ramesh and Joenathan and Gianni are two other managers who are always visable to deal with problems. Mauritius is a beautiful island, ask reception to arrange a tour of it. Vickram will drive you around in the hotel call. There is a charge for this but it’s worth it. If I have misspelt a name or forgotten anyone I apologise, tell me off in march when I return. Lastly I must mention Diren and Deepuck. Diren and Sachin oversee room service but he is everywhere and will help you have a lovely meal in the restaurants. Deepuck is executive chef and if you have a special diet or occasion will ensure you are looked after.

Wonder location Stunning entrance which sets you up for a true beach holiday experience Lovely room layout with lots of room and great views! Incredible attentive staff who are always professional and polite Great food in the restaurants, particularly the ITI Peruvian which punches above its weight! You should consider this hotel if wanting to stay in north Mauritius

Our recent lunch at Beach Rouge was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we stepped into the resort, the beautiful ambiance set the perfect tone for a memorable afternoon. The dining experience at the restaurant was flawless. Every single staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a perfect experience. A very special mention must go to Mr. Reedoo, who truly elevated our afternoon with his remarkable presence. His attentiveness is second to none; he noticed our sunglasses needed wiping and immediately volunteered to clean them for us, a small gesture that speaks volumes about his commitment to guest care. Beyond his professionalism, his amazing sense of humor brought so much joy and laughter to our table. Mr. Reedoo radiates positive energy, and his genuine, joyful approach to hospitality made our lunch unforgettable. Thank you, Beach Rouge and LUX* Grand Gaube, for a phenomenal day.
