We spent two nights at Ravenala Attitude. While there were a few positive aspects to our stay, overall, we were disappointed with the experience. Our room was very spacious, which was a positive, although we felt that the cleanliness could have been better. The food at the main restaurant was acceptable. However, we had lunch at O Restaurant and were very pleased with both the food and the overall experience there. Unfortunately, there were several aspects of our stay that left us dissatisfied: Staff interactions: We frequently witnessed employees arguing among themselves, which was uncomfortable to see and, in our view, did not create the professional atmosphere expected in a resort. Poolside service: Poolside service was almost non-existent. On every occasion, we had to walk to the bar, place our order ourselves, and then return to the bar to collect our drinks once they were ready. We expected a much better level of service, particularly at a resort of this standard. First-aid assistance: The most disappointing experience occurred on the day of our departure. Our young son unfortunately hurt himself and sustained a head injury that caused bleeding. We were extremely concerned and expected prompt assistance from the hotel. Instead, the assistance we received was very poor. I had to carry my injured son to the First Aid post, only to discover that it was closed. An employee simply told me, rather bluntly, to take him to reception and then left us unattended. I therefore had to carry my son all the way to reception, where we received only minimal first-aid assistance. Overall, although there were some positive aspects to our stay, particularly the spacious room and our lunch at O Restaurant, the shortcomings in cleanliness, service, staff professionalism, and especially the handling of our son's injury significantly affected our overall impression of the resort. We expected a much higher standard of service and care, particularly when dealing with an injured child. This was unfortunately not the experience we had.
Excellent meal - with the most helpful staff. Couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful evening.
Celebrated our 30th Wedding anniversary with a celebratory meal on the beach at O Beach restaurant Ravenala Attitude. We were we well looked after by Kelly and his team. Relaxed service with some great fish dishes. A great end to to a lovely holiday.
The staff was very friendly and food was tasty. The look after us very well. Look forward to come back again.
We chose The Ravenalla Attitude for September as read it was better to be in the north than the south at that time of year. We have gone on many long haul all inclusive holidays but this was the most expensive. I was disappointed with the price we paid for this holiday/hotel and think it is overpriced compared to others. Firstly, the hotel staff were all lovely. But the hotel rooms, even though large in size, definitely need attention, especially the bathroom area. Cleaning standards weren't good either even though we left a daily tip. They also need to either remove the bamboo feature above the beds, as they were full of dust. Or get them cleaned as part of the room cleaning. Upon entering our first allocated room, I could see the floor hadn't been hoovered at all or washed. Reception staff then allocated us a new room. We were told it was a honeymoon room, but the only difference was there were petals on the bed etc. If I had just got married and allocated that room, I wouldn't have been happy. Regards the food, I read reviews about the food beforehand which were good, but found it not as good as it had been made out to be. Breakfast was fine in the buffet restaurant as they had omelette, cereal, pancakes, fruit and pastries and catered for others tastes which were unusual for breakfast. Shame they didn't do fruit smoothies too. We had lunch at the beach at the 'O' restaurant which was fine too. We ate at Madame MNG twice but I didn't enjoy the first time as my main tasted of antiseptic. The second with a different dish was fine. I found the Italian to be the better one as I had a lovely steak there which surprised me as reviews made it out to be awful. There are 3 other restaurants but one was being refurbished whilst there, so couldn't go there. With regards the bars, we mainly used the one at the beach during the day and the staff were lovely, even coming to the sunbeds too. There was only one other bar open in the evening inside the hotel. The top one never seemed to have staff. We had no trouble booking reservations for the restaurants though and did that on our first day. As for trips and due to the weather part way through, we went to the botanical gardens for a walk about, this is about 15 mins in a taxi. We went to port Louis, but that wasn't worth the visit and the taxi took about 20 mins. We went on a trip to see whales and dolphins with the guys at the beach at the hotel, but it wasn't worth the money. The guy was an hour late to start off with, they then didn't provide life jackets and the driver was going too fast that I was practically jumping out of the bench seat. The trip was only 2 hours long too when it was meant to be between 3-4 hours, but 2 hours was enough with them damaging my back. We got wet also because the driver was going too fast too. He said the group could swim with the whales, which none did. However there were other boat company guests swimming with them. I was told later by my daughter that it is illegal for anyone to swim with them. When the others in the group swam with the dolphins, I thought it quite dangerous out in the middle of the ocean jumping off the boat to then trying to swim against the waves to see the dolphins, then having to swim quite a way to get back on the boat. They found it very tiring and could only do it twice. It was only on the journey back near the hotel did the boat man say put on lifejackets as the police were near! He should have provided them at the beginning. All in all Mauritius is a lovely place and I would return and possibly to the Ravenella also but only if it was a much better price as £1800 was a lot for a week.
