Akumal Bay Resort

Well, what can we say. 11 years ago we spent our honeymoon at this resort and it was fantastic! This was our first trip back due to circumstances. It was almost as perfect as the first time! Still as peaceful, still as tranquil, still has fantastic food, brilliant friendly staff, who they clearly retain as some have been there a long time! Plentiful buffet, perfect steaks in the grill, lovely fish in the Mediterranean restaurant, amazing Mexican dishes and the best sushi by the pool! A big thanks for the great service to: Carlos and Luis in main restaurant. Rosa and Yauri for keeping the drinks flowing by the pool. Cristian for the great Fish Tacos in the snack bar. Jorge in the Mediterranean restaurant and Holi in the Mexican restaurant. If you want the best omelette for breakfast, just speak to Imelda on the omelette station, absolutely superb! Everything was amazing, a wee hiccup at start, but was corrected very quickly, so can't fault that. 11 years later, the beach has eroded a fair bit by block 4, but thats natural. The only thing that would have topped this trip off would have been if we had been lucky enough to have seen turtles hatch on the beach again, was amazing to watch 11 years ago, but not to be this time. Keep up the good work, hopefully be back a bit sooner.

This was our third time in this resort. It’s just amazing. Stuff is so friendly that you feel yourself at home. Special thanks to Elvira and Alan who made our stay joyful and very comfortable. We will definitely come again.

Well want can I say, it was perfect. Hotel clean and extremely safe, all the rooms are sea facing and well presented, fridge stocked every day and staff were amazing. Manrique in the snack bar was brilliant always kept me smiling. Downside Beach is rocky so beach shoes is a must. This hotel is geared towards people who want relaxation, you won’t find volleyball games or over loud entertainment, aqua aerobics at 11 o’clock was brilliant and of course you can join the yoga classes. Food was amazing all 4 restaurants were top class al a cart, buffet was sparse but I believe that was because the hotel was not overcrowded. I can see why people return year after year.

We are just ending a magnificent week at Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness. The staff simply couldn’t be better. I messed up my reservation but Dema, Alex and Lele (which I think is slang for Emmanuel?) cheerfully and efficiently corrected my error. Without any Charge! We all enjoyed the snack bar and attentive care by all, especially Manrique. Gosh I hope I’m spelling his name correctly as he was sure kind to my family. Breakfast everyday was delicious and fun. We were often and efficiently served by Alejandro who got me coffee before opening since we are going home today. Our favorite restaurant was ALux, the Mexican restaurant. Holly, who is found all over the resort, was super. And unfailingly cheerful and nice. We were cared for by countless great bartenders. Yoga almost everyday by Hiram and Barbara got the days off to a great start. Almost no sargasum! If you go please tip these hardworking , lovely people. I can’t wait for my next trip here.

Fantastic holiday, staff in the hotel were absolutely amazing Rosa in the bar was so nice and attentive, the food in the Restaurant was tremendous although the buffet restaurant felt scaled back as the hotel wasn’t overly busy, it was the most relaxing holiday
