The location is great. Although it's about an hour from Tulum airport. The atmosphere is very natural. You have the best of both worlds. You have the jungle and then you have the beach on the other end. There is plenty of opportunities to get your steps in here. The rooms are nice and I believe well appointed. Some people have talked about them being too small, but we think that they were perfectly sized. The value for the money is great in our opinion. They have plenty of activities for the guests including aqua gym, volleyball, soccer on the beach, and two different painting classes, one of which carries a fee. I do believe the cleanliness of the rooms could be improved. When we checked in, there were bugs in the bathroom and those same dead bugs stayed for six of our seven nights. However, I won't remove a star for that because our experience was so fantastic. The staff is amazing and treated us like VIPs. Angeles and Quetzabel in La Playa were wonderful and so kind. They really went out of their way to get to know you. Jesus in steakville was great. Joseph and guest services was just the kindest guy ever. Shout out to the activity staff as they were very social and worked hard to keep the energy up. Maria at beloved was the sweetest person ever as was Alix. Both of them were so patient with me while I tried to speak Spanish. The vibe of this resort overall is relaxed. There are some periods of rowdiness us but it's very rare. I would say this resort is great for couples but also for friends as well. Unfortunately the beach was pretty ran over with sargassum most of the week we were here but there was one day where we got to enjoy it. This is not to say that the staff did not work hard to keep the beach clean. Drink service on the beach was more than adequate and the drink runners. Martina and Monica were wonderful. They never once got my drink order wrong. Bar service was excellent although the vodka tastes a little weird so we stuck two tequila. Freddy at the lobby bar was great. The bar service at beloved was also great. The food was great and our favorite restaurant was Mamma Mia. However, we really enjoyed tao cat as well, but would enjoy it more if it was indoors or near the beach. There just was no air flow unfortunately. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would come back. I highly recommend the white pizza with the mushrooms, the campensina ensalada, and the picatta fish for the entree at Mama Mia. The affogato and tiramisu was also really good. My husband said the burger at steakville was really good and I enjoyed my sea bass there which is under the catch of the Day. The mashed potatoes are also delicious. The buffet was great and I loved it that they had fresh fruit and plenty of cheese options. At lunch they have hand scooped ice cream. And they will grill you fish which is amazing. We did not get to try the traditional menu for beloved, but we went there for breakfast and lunch and really enjoyed both. Service takes a while so pack your patience. The pancakes at beloved are the best and make sure you get a side of bacon. Trust me. The beloved rolls at lunch are decadent and their guacamole is wonderful. It's not on the menu but they will bring it to you. It's worth asking for.
Leo edy pau cuellar diego were wonderful hotel entertainers, made us feel right at home and included us in all the activities. They made the day fun and very entertaining.
The room was beautiful and comfortable. Privileged was worth it with access to special chairs on beach and Bloved restaurant. Shout out to every employee who made our stay restful and luxurious. Special shout out to Leonel, Edgar, y cullear for getting us to have fun at the pool and at the discoteca!
We had an amazing 2 weeks at Catalonia royal tulum the staff are amazing everyone was warm and very welcoming and could not do enough for us. Carlos the bell boy was very helpful with our bags as my husband has mobility issues and Quetzabel and Angeles are by far the smiley and lovely people we have met making sure we have everything we ever needed. Every member of staff went above and beyond thank to everyone for making our stay wonderful.
This was my first time in Mexico and this hotel absolutely blew me away. It’s a small hotel which means the service is absolutely impeccable. From the front desk, to the bars and restaurants everything is amazing and everyone is taking care of you. Above all the entertainment team at the pool works hard every day to provide the most fun possible. Shout out to Eddie, Paulina, Diego, Leo and Cuellir who made me laugh every day by the pool, I voted me to take part in everything (even if I said no sometimes). Dance lessons and aqua gym were highlights for me. Thank you Catalonia Royal Tulum for the most restful and relaxing week I could have asked for.
