Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort & Spa

First time at Dreams Riviera Cancun. I'll unpack how things went. The good: Spa experience and hydrotherapy was fantastic! Rooms had a great layout. And the service workers were friendly and helpful. Shout-out to Enrique, Azecuna, and Gerson specifically. The not so good: Communication. Buffet is under remodeling and the Dreams staff should have communicated the situation better and also react to what breakfast crowds will experience. We were told Desires opens at 7 pm on our Thursday evening and we went to find out they were closed. We also had reservations at Tempanyaki on Sept 27th at 8:20 pm only to see that they were closed. (How can you place a reservation when it's closed?) When we first arrived we wanted to try and get our two rooms ina similar area (my GF's adult daughter had a separate room). The front desk guy said he checked. I watched him. He didn't even attempt to look. I would have felt better if he faked it and look like he tried. He didn't. But later the sales people met with us (we thought they were Conscierge at first but figured it out when they mentioned sitting through a program. Paco said we could have our rooms adjusted to close together and we were surprised as the front desk guy couldn't do that. When told we had to attend the program to do that we said no. We also inquired about Hyatt points being acknowledged for this trip (we knew that may not happen) and Paco said yes when you check out on Monday it will be there. I jokingly said what time are you working Monday and he responded that he was off. Not a surprise. So we went to the Conscierge after him and explained our situation and he said that we would be moving rooms the next day. The next day, we went to Conscierge to check on things. Gabriel said that a message was left for me. Keep in mind each room has two phones and neither had a message and my cell number they had also had no message. So definitely did not happen. And when I asked about the room change, he said it was tied to going through the program. So, yes, I'm frustrated again. He offered to deliver strawberries to my GF's daughter the 26th. And also, gave us usage of a cabana at the pool for a day. Fast forward, we got the cabana but no strawberries. Again, it was an extra to help out through a difficult situation but it didn't happen! The seafood grill is open for lunch and dinner, but is Preferred for breakfast. A bit confusing but we understood as we were turned away. Also at the seafood grill we went to enjoy a drink with a nice view and we were seated at 3:51 and the hostess told us that we had 9 minutes and then they close. That actually happened! So we immediately stood up and left. We wanted to play some cards the three of us and finding an air conditioned area to do so was incredibly hard to find. (Our rooms didn't have a table in them to use) The Lobby bar area was still warm and we asked and was told Desires was the place. When I looked yep, same Desires that opens at 7 and it only 5 pm. My GF bought this trip for myself and her daughter and for the money she spent, we came out disappointed. And communication could have sold things better. And while everyone was great at apologizing, that's not what we wanted. Easy to say that we won't be heading back to Dreams Riviera Cancun anytime soon. My advice is to ask questions in advance and be better prepared than we were.

The smell of the decomposing sargassum is overpowering and has completely spoiled this holiday for us. No effort is being made to dispose of it, and considering the foul smelling fumes can be toxic, more consideration should be given to clearing this away as often as possible Cannot go on the balcony to use the jacuzzi because of the vile stench and will not visit this resort again purely for this reason. I don’t have any respiratory health conditions, but for anyone who does then this should be a major factor if you’re thinking of booking to stay at this resort. It really is the foulest smell I’ve ever experienced and it is constant

The resort is beautiful, the beaches, rooms, pool, and customer service were all great. The biggest issue was the food, it was poor quality and not appetizing. Additionally, the hours of the restaurants were frustrating. Sometimes you couldn’t find anywhere to eat. My daughter enjoyed visiting the spas and plunge pool. The food was also an issue for her.

We had a wonderful stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun with our family, and what truly made our experience special was the incredible staff. Everyone was so kind, attentive, and genuinely caring, especially with our little boy. He is a very picky eater and basically only eats pasta and fries, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure he was happy. Even when those dishes weren’t on the restaurant’s menu, they would kindly prepare them for him and bring them to our table. Those little gestures meant so much to us as parents and made us feel truly welcomed and cared for. A very special thank you to Juan, Lilly, Angeles, and Pedro for being so wonderful with our family and especially with our son. Your kindness, patience, and attention to detail made our vacation even more memorable. We truly appreciated the warm hospitality and the family-friendly atmosphere. We would happily come back and recommend this resort to other families looking for a relaxing and welcoming vacation. Thank you for making our stay so special!

The experience was memorable. Everything within the resort was great. I didn't find the need to explore outside resort. Breafast buffet was my favorite. Loved the chilaquiles bar and cafe con leche. Ordered room service at midnight and arrived within 20 minutes. All staff made it a point to remeber our names.
