Ocean Riviera Paradise

A large group of us attended a family members wedding. Our butler, Antonio (aka Tuzo) went above and beyond helping this chaotic crew find food, rentals, excursions, and whatever else. Our room was continuously stocked with items, cleaned, and even had chocolate on our pillows when the sheets were turned down. So welcoming! If your into being pampered, this is a good spot!

Hats off to the staff at ORP! We’re there with 38 other friends and family for our granddaughter’s wedding. Everything went off without a hitch and everyone enjoyed the ceremony and the experience very much. They created a beautiful venue and entertainment. And a very special thank you to our butler Antonio! He went over and above to make sure the whole group enjoyed themselves and could take advantage to all the amenities that were offered! We request Antonio every time we travel to ORP and consider him one of our family!! Gracias senor Antonio!

We stayed at the El Beso section end of September. Arrival to the resort was not bad, check in was a bit on the long side, once we were check in we were passed over to Norma who went through and explained the resort at which time she brought up that the next morning she would come get us and take us to breakfast and show us the privilege rooms/amenities at this point it was made to seem as an upgrade up sell, NOT a membership presentation due to she had NEVER said premium (which is their membership) she was very careful and specific with her words and only said Privilage which was VERY misleading. We stayed in the rooftop suite, the room itself was nice there was some mold in the shower on the grout near the bottom mainly, besides that everything was great. Keep in mind with the rooftop rooms if you like to be outside on the roof or the main level patio there is NO coverage, only an open style pergola. Which was a little unfortunate but not the biggest deal. The food was good everywhere we went. Visited Mike's coffee everyday and was always spot on as well as the little treats they have. All the food at the buffet we tried was good, one of the better buffets we have tried. We unfortunately did not get to try all the a la carte resturants as when we check in we hadn't realized they were not always open and some were closed some days while others different days. Which if we had realized initially we would have tried to be a little more strategic about planing. Breakfast at Bluemoon was good and a nice experience (not always open for breakfast however either), Route 66 was good and the fried pickles were very good. They pretty much serve the same burgers at multiple restaurants on the resort so at least you know what you're getting if thats what you're in the mood for. The Itailian spot (can't remember the name) and Bluemoon were shockingly good for dinner. We only wish we had gone to Bluemoon more for dinner. The three restaurants that require reservations only allow for 1 visit during a 7 day stay each. The app and all the information we read/were told when we checked in said that Route 66 was open from 11pm-6am for late night eats and showed a menu on the app. The one night we did check it out we were highly disappointed to realize that it is not actually open and they set up a station outside of the restaurant with only one option for what they are serving (when we went it was the burgers) Drinks were all good, service was good and friendly for the most part. The beach is almost not existent but still able to go in the water if you like, its just a bit rocky. They did seem to take pretty good care of the seaweed as well, there was never an issue with that. Loungers but the beach pool were fewer to come by if you didnt get their early however chairs were easy to come by at the other pools. Overall we did have a really nice time at this resort, enjoyed the drinks and the food and the service.

Ivan the bartender was wonderful!! Drinks was always on point and his service was excellent.

This was my third time to the area, both times before I paid more for my holiday, and both were 5 star, and I had incredible experiences at both. My holiday this time was very different for a few reasons, so I tried not to let my previous holidays effect my review too much. This hotel would be a reasonably priced 3-4 star holiday, but can certainly not be described as 5 star!! Everything is worn and tired. Especially balcony handrails, they felt very unsafe. The food is good, not amazing but more than good enough to feel satisfied. We experienced poor meals and amazing meals in the same restaurants so safe to say hit and miss. The shower floods the bathroom every time so pack the floor with towels. It’s a pain in the arse! I have two complaints about staff. Angelica was very rude trying to book meals, refused to book us in unless we brought a wine package. Eventually she gave in and booked it with huffs and puffs. Pissed me off! Zander forced me to leave a review to “prove to his boss he was working”, took my phone and made a 5 star review on this hotel. Makes me think the reviews are false. Most are nice enough, but it’s not a place where everyone is trying hard to make your experience better. Service can be very slow at times. Everything is also way too expensive in the shops, in the spa and at the beach. 3-4 more times than what you’d expect. Now some positives, some great staff: especially LUIS, in the Mexican restaurant. 5star PLUS service from him!!! Coffee shop on site is also great!!! And like I said some of the food was great! The rooms were nice, just lacking them extra touches to make it feel 5star. The PILLOWS!!! Honestly the BEST pillows I’ve ever had!! It was so hard not to steal them! All in all it’s not a bad hotel, just not an amazing hotel.
