Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

I visited Secrets Akumal for a week with my wife- we were celebrating 42 year of our marriage. THe entire experience was above our expectations. Special mention to all the staff who were extremely friendly and always there for you no matter what. For example the first couple of days we were lost and were finding it difficult to navigate around the resort, which is a beautiful property. Anyone we asked for direction the staff were so good that they would not only provide directions but accompany us to our designated spot. The food was also exceptional in the specialty dining restaurants - the quality of preparation and presentation were admirable. There was also no dearth of entertainment - almost every day there was some event or the other by the pool in the evenings. The staff did a great job of setting up the venues. Excellent resort in every aspect of the vacation industry.

We visited Secrets during Covid, when even though everything was shut down, we had the most amazing experience. This time was even better. We were treated like royalty. Our room had a perfect view. Everything was clean. Housekeeping was wonderful. Our concierge in building 4, Jose, went out of his way to make our experience incredible. He did so much for us that I could not put into words how much we appreciate him. Genaro, at Market Cafe, was hands down the best server at the restaurants we visited. I started to cry when we had our last day with him. Jose, with poolside service, was so attentive and had the sweetest personality. He always had a smile on his face and was lovely to talk to. Even though Mario, with entertainment, kicked my butt during AquaStrong, he was amazing and made it so much fun. Alan, with poolside service biking, was also so much fun! What a workout though! Cia (may have spelled that wrong) and Eddie (maybe his name was Erik) took us on the bike tour and were so beyond knowledgeable about the town of Akumal, wildlife, fish, and all of the attractions they showed us. Norma and Anna @ the spa on Friday 7/24 were out of this world. The most relaxed I have ever been. Chris with the music at Rendezvous was lovely. Frida show was great. Eduardo was amazing at Rendezvous bar. We met the most amazing people on our trip and cannot wait to visit again soon. Thank you so much to everyone at Secrets Akumal.

The hospitality and attentiveness of the staff was outstanding! Special thanks to Karina, Tony, Oscar, Diego, Miguel, Basilio, Bernardo, Ulysses, Allen and all of the other pool staff!

Great ADULTS ONLY resort!!!!! Service was top notch, food was great, rooms clean and well kept up. Grounds are beautiful! Hotel did everything possible to minimize the seaweed on the beach—but we are pool people so it didn’t bother us. I would definitely stay here again!!!!

Overall would highly recommend to couples that are going on vacation. The service is excellent and the staff is very attentive. The food is excellent. The beach would’ve been great if it weren’t for the seaweed but they did a great job at cleaning it up. Bordeaux and Himitsu are a must. Highly dissatisfied by the El Patio restaurant. Make sure to ask for your beach bag if you get the preferred club, but we did not feel like that was worth it. Loved having the option of a “quiet” pool but wish the staff would have policed the “quiet” part more.
