Absolutely amazing experience. Staff, food, entertainment and ambience were all incredible. Shoutout to our concierge Jose for being phenomenal the entire stay!

We recently returned from Secrets Akumal - stayed October 6 - 15. It was our second trip to that wonderful resort. We had an issue with the Travel Club which came to the attention of hotel management through our butler Leidy and my husband's trip advisor post. I learned that the travel club is entirely a separate entity than the ownership of the hotel. All I can say is management took our concerns very seriously and went out of their way to make us feel special our last two days at the resort. From the pool concierge, catering manager and general manager - everyone more than made up for the issues we had. The food was consistently excellent - our favorites were Bordeaux and Sea Side Grille. Rooms were cleaned perfectly every day and turn down in the evening was great. Pool staff was wonderful - we have a family member who needed a cart to get around and they were very helpful. At breakfast, the staff went out of their way to help our family member to her seat. Shout out to the omelet personnel who expertly prepared our omeles to order. I told my husband, this resort runs like a well-oiled machine. We love the Mexican workers, they work hard with a smile on their face. Make sure you tip them well, we did, and they deserve it. I wish I had written more names down but a special thanks to Leidy out butler, the pool concierge, catering manager and Cesar Montoya, Rooms Division Director. We chose the Secrets Akumal resort to celebrate my wife’s 30th birthday. Overall it was the best holiday that we have ever been on. Our room was very spacious with a balcony overlooking the jungle that surrounded the resort and also had our own jacuzzi. All of the housemaids did a great job of keeping the cleanliness of the room at a high standard throughout the trip. Our building concierge Leidy was phenomenal. When my wife was talking to her about wanting something spicier to eat, Leidy called the restaurant that we were planning to go to ahead of time and they made her a spicy tomato sauce to go with the nachos which was off the menu. Leidy also came in on her day off to arrange a birthday cake and personal message to the room whilst we were out. The service did not drop when Leidy was away either as Karen was also very friendly and made it easy to arrange a bubble bath in the jacuzzi and rose petals sprinkled around the room as a romantic surprise for my wife. The resort itself is so peaceful with plants and trees all around the pathways that provide plenty of shade going to and from buildings. It provides such a calming atmosphere and it is nothing like anything we have experienced in any other all inclusive resort. The gardeners work very hard to maintain the grounds and it really shows. The food was something that both of us had been looking forward to and it did not disappoint. French, Italian ,Japanese, seafood, seaside grill and Mexican every restaurant was a great experience with menus filled with tasty options that we could go multiple times and not get bored. Once again the service really stood out as every restaurant was aware of my wife’s nut allergy before we sat down and even if the waiter would change as the food was being served they would be aware of this and advise my wife not to eat my food if it contained nuts. This really put my mind at ease as this had been a problem at previous resorts. Special mention to the waiter Ayram who served us a few times as he worked in our favourite restaurant the Hitmitsu, he was very easy to talk to and joke with although every waiter we interacted with was incredible and had time for us even though you could see they were very busy. The resort had three different pools, one quieter pool and then two more next to each other. This provided everything for everyone. The pool staff as well were so helpful, we would not have to wait long for our drinks to be refilled or even the parasol to be moved if we wanted more shade. Special mention to Antonio who we made a good connection with at the pool he was so kind and caring! The entertainment team always had an event every hour and this would continue on the rainy days as well. Special mention to Alan who we did the aqua cycling class with, a great way to start the day. There were also special events that we didn't have to pay for such as the tequila tasting which was very informative and interesting. All in all this resort and its team did an amazing job at making my wife’s birthday special and I would not have changed anything. It should definitely be considered if you are thinking of celebrating something special. Beautiful resort, attentive staff, delicious food and drinks. Spa experience was amazing and relaxing. The resort is well maintained and really focused on being green and sustainable. Great for couples and perfect location for excursions
