Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi

We had a fabulous stay! My boyfriend and I are both 25, and after reading some of the mixed reviews, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. However, we can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We went at the end of September/start of October, so the season was coming to an end, but honestly, we didn’t notice much of a change. The weather was lovely, about 23° and cooler in the evenings while we were there! One thing to bear in mind is that the sun goes behind the mountains at around 3pm, so the hotel does get shady a little earlier in the afternoon. As a picky eater, I was particularly impressed with the variety and standard of the food. There was always plenty of choice, and we got to try things like oysters, tuna steak and freshly made crepes, which I honestly didn’t expect! The ice cream van was also so good and definitely worth trying! I also really enjoyed the cocktails. They weren’t overly strong, which I actually preferred, but there was still a great selection. They had mojitos, Hugo Spritzes and pretty much whatever you fancied, so there was always something to enjoy by the beach! The hotel reception and rooms were clean and comfortable, but the real gem of this place is the private beach. You can go paddle boarding and kayaking, and the views are absolutely incredible, with the fjord-like mountains surrounding you. The entertainment was also fantastic, and having the water taxi right at the hotel was such a bonus. I noticed a few reviews mentioning that there wasn’t anywhere to sit, but we honestly didn’t have this issue at all. There was lots of seating around the pool bar, where there was entertainment throughout the day and evening, as well as plenty of seating down at the beach bar. We really enjoyed sitting by the beach or pool with a drink and taking in the atmosphere. There’s also a small shop just down the road where you can grab things like crisps and other little snacks, which was handy as the hotel is quite isolated. Things to do: Although the hotel is quite isolated, we still managed to have a great mix of adventure and relaxation. We did a boat trip with Petar Boats, visiting Kotor, Our Lady of the Rocks and Perast, which was absolutely beautiful. We also took the water taxi into Herceg Novi, which is a gorgeous medieval city. While there, we got involved in air rifle shooting and paddle boarding, which was great fun! Overall, we had such a brilliant holiday and would really recommend this hotel, especially if you want a mix of relaxing by the beach, beautiful scenery and opportunities to get out and explore. We would definitely come bac and have recommended to friends and family! 😊

We were so excited to explore this part of the world. Arrived and the first impressions were that the reception area needed a little modernising. We were then taken by buggy to our apartment block and we were helped with our cases. The room was bright, airy, very clean with a large bed. The balcony had 2 chairs and a table and we had a direct view out on to the sea front. This made the room for us, waking up to that view was amazing. A sea view is a MUST. The bathroom had a powerful shower and towels were changed every day. There was a small fridge in the room and a safe bit the safe was €3.50 per day to use. Our room was located on the 3 rd floor and there is a lift and stairs. The pool area was clean although not huge it was perfect for this time of year. You had space to spread out. The larger day beds were free to use from 1st Oct otherwise there was a charge of €50. The pool was clean and had ladders to get down into the water. The water was cold but you acclimatised to it after a minute or so. There was aqua activities timetabled which you had the opportunity to join in with. The entertainment team were excellent. Lots of things to be involved in if you wanted to do. These were programmed during the day and into the evening. The activities included a quiz, Aqua games, darts, archery, pistol shooting , glass painting , bingo and the evening included a casino night which was great fun, traditional dancing, fire show, orchestra, white party , the list goes on. Their own website updates constantly to get the latest news. We looked in advance so we felt prepared e.g we took white clothing for the Friday-themed party. There were several bars and eateries all serving wonderful food and drinks. A great choice and attentive staff would advise you on the local drinks. The water taxi took you from the hotel across to Herceg Novi which took approx 10-15 mins. The crossing was smooth and i would advise getting a day ticket of €15 as it’s great to explore during the day and then to return in the evening. Herceg Novi town is beautiful and certainly worth a visit. There are a big number of steps to get to the castle at the top and for some of the cafes and bars. There are a number of tours which can be booked at the hotel ans the 3 w did were definitely worth it. We only had one night were noise was an issue. We reported this to reception who dealt with it very quickly. The morning is a perfect time to watch the sunrise.

We've was very happy with the Iberostar Waves herceg novi hotel in Montenegro. You cannot fault staff the food and our room was lovely. Our room on the top floor, a priority double room had a sea and pool view and we were very happy. A modern room with everything you need but you have to pay for the safe and a deposit for the towels but that wasn't a problem. There is no room service but it wasn't needed. Water dispensers are on each floor. There are coffee making facilities in the room but the Star Cafe opens at 5am and Jenka was great, with conversation and hot drinks as I'm an early riser so that was nice. No smart TV and mostly, obviously foreign channels but again it wasn't needed. I think we had one of the best views from our room, we did have the rooftop bar above us but we didn't hear the noise once. It's not a late resort. The staff can't do enough for you. They enjoy their work and you can see that with their lovely attitudes from all of them. The food we was really impressed by. Lots of drinks on offer including wine and beer on tap and we enjoyed the local beer and prosecco. We have eaten in the restaurant most nights and we thought it might have been a problem by having just one restaurant but it wasn't. My goodness the variety is amazing. Options on offer have been endless And we've not had one bad meal Breakfast, lunch or dinner. The beach bar also offers a great lunch option with beautiful views and friendly staff. The location is quiet. We hired a car for a couple of days, you can sort that out with your Rep or reception for a reasonable amount. We took the car to Budva Kotor cable car Tivat and Perez. Well worth visiting. We had the best three days sightseeing and then mixed it up with sunbathing and relaxing too. We did one TUI excursion, but it was very busy, but we got to see the lady of the rocks. Getting out early, seeing all the sites stopping for lunch and then have an a lazy afternoon. The location of the hotel is hilly and steep but there are accessible lifts to floors and if you just take your time, it's not a problem. If you like cats, you'll love it here there are lots of cats and they're well looked after and they are not a problem, they don't scrounge or beg as they are fed well. They leave you be if you leave them be and they are so cute. The views here are unbelievable. Don't miss the sunrise in the morning. I loved my morning walk and watching the resort wake up. There is no rush for sunbeds. If you're out by 9am there was always beds avaliable. Ivana in the Catalaya Spa was very friendly and helpful to explain all the treatments and I enjoyed a body wrap, exfoliate and massage and it was a well spent 90 minutes of sheer relaxation. We had a wonderful break and definitely would stay in a Iberostar resort again. Thank you

We booked with easyJet for a 7 night stay at this hotel towards the end of September. We liked the look of it from the reviews and were looking forward to experiencing the remoteness of the location. It didn't disappoint! We opted for a transfer with easyJet from Tivat airport. Although this was a long journey (a couple of hours) it was worth it as it gave us a free tour of the island and we also got to experience a car ferry crossing as part of the journey. The scenery is spectacular. Once we arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly and we were given a buggy ride to our accommodation. The accommodation was smaller than I had expected from the pictures on the website but nevertheless it was a bright clean room with everything you need. We opted for a balcony sea view and this didn't disappoint either! We had a glorious view of the sea and the mountains beyond. If you want to use the safe in the room then you have to pay a bit extra at reception and if you want pool towels then you also have to pay a deposit of 20 Euros per towel, but you get this back when you return them at the end of your stay. The buffet restaurant is situated right by the sea so gives glorious views and it's bright and clean and has lots of food choices available. I particularly enjoyed the range of salad and fresh veg and fruit that was provided. The Bahia bar is situated right underneath the restaurant and gives stunning views which we enjoyed with an Aperol Spritz on numerous occasions before going for an evening meal. We saw stunning views of the moon rising over the mountainous terrain. Depending on which block your accommodation is in there will be quite a few steps to navigate to get to various parts of the site, including the restaurant and pool, so be aware of this when booking. We were in the Luna block which is one of the nearest accommodation blocks to the amenities so this didn't affect us too much. There is an App that you can download that tells you about the hotels amenities which we found useful, particularly to find out times of the various bar openings and what activities were available. We didn't take part in the activities but there seemed to be quite varied activities going on throughout the week, such as table tennis, archery or various fitness classes. The entertainment was similar and varied and the staff were enthusiastic and friendly and were keen to ensure that guests were comfortable and enjoying their holiday. There is a water taxi at the bottom of the complex that will take you to the other side to visit Hercig Novi for 15 Euros per day. It's fairly frequent, every hour, and runs late into the night. It's a lovely way of traveling to the other side and the boat staff are very friendly and welcoming. We made use of this on our last night and had an evening meal in Hercig Novi, and the sights of the shoreline all lit up was beautiful and made for a memorable last night of our holiday.

Had a fantastic time. The food was amazing and the entertainment team went above and beyond every single day. Massive shout‑out to Adam, Micky, Omar, Mira and Lido — and although we didn’t catch all the names, every member of the team was so welcoming and full of energy.The bar team were incredible too, especially Mr Electric — I think his name is Zvankar, though I’m not completely sure — always bringing great vibes up at the rooftop bar.Night entertainment was fab, and while the pools could be heated, it honestly didn’t put us off going in at all. We loved this place and the whole team.After the night life we would go to the star cafe and be greeted by Sandra, best iced coffee and toastie sandwiches was definitely needed. We never usually write reviews, but the staff here really are a credit to the hotel.
