There are many positives to highlight about this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location is excellent—but a car is a must. The setting is truly beautiful, with stunning ocean views. Falling asleep to the sound of Atlantic waves was incredibly peaceful. However, the most disappointing aspect of our stay was the dining experience. We arrived late on our first night and chose to dine at the hotel rather than venture out in the dark after checking in. We weren’t aware it was a buffet until after we were seated, but decided to stay. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a poor decision. For 30 Euros, the selection was minimal and the food quality resembled cafeteria fare. They ran out of chocolate cake early and didn’t bother to restock it. The staff seemed impatient and disengaged, as if they didn’t want to be there. Overall, it felt overpriced. Breakfast wasn’t much better. The variety was limited, and we kept wondering if there was another section we were missing. On our final morning, the coffee machine broke down and was never repaired. While the dining experience detracted from the overall impression, we still enjoyed our stay and appreciated the hotel’s many positives.

Bad business practice: there was a mistake during booking with wrong date. Despite contacting the hotel Caloura immediately after booking they refused to correct the mistake. As a result, they kept my 400 euros even if providing no lodging to me and my husband.

This place blew us away. We had an amazing time here, 6 night stay. Alfonso, Henrigue and Emanuel were the stars of our hotel stay/service. If I ever go back to the Azores I am booking this hotel again without a doubt. Also somewhat centrally located to the rest of the island on the south side, which made a great base to visit all the of the beautiful experiences the Azores has to offer.
