My Story Hotel Vila Nova

Our room was immaculate and the staff was consistently friendly and helpful. Water pressure in the shower was excellent. We did not try the breakfast during our brief stay. The walk to the city center takes only ten minutes whereas the drive to the airport is less than that. There is on-site parking as well which is convenient.

We loved our stay here. Our time at Hotel Vila Nova was fantastic from start to finish. The hotel kindly upgraded our room, providing us with great living space, a lovely balcony, and wonderful views.The dining options were a highlight. Breakfast had a plentiful and very tasty selection to start the day, and we found the dinner to be great value. Location-wise, you cannot beat it. It is perfectly situated for scenic walks right into the heart of town and serves as an excellent, stress-free hub for tour pick-ups. We would absolutely stay here again.

If you’re planning a trip to Ponta Delgada, especially if you’re traveling with children, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The continental breakfast was one of the worst I’ve experienced. The pancake machine barely worked, the bread was consistently stale, and on one morning the fruit bowl was full of fruit flies. It was so unappetizing that we ended up leaving the hotel almost every day to eat breakfast elsewhere. The room was just as disappointing. I paid extra for a suite and expected a much higher standard. Instead, I was greeted with a strong mildew smell as soon as I walked in. The carpets were stained, and the room felt worn and poorly maintained. It certainly didn’t reflect what I’d expect from a suite. The biggest disappointment, however, was how unwelcome we felt as a family. We traveled with a large group that included several children. Due to the rainy weather, we spent time in the hotel’s lobby and lounge areas—the exact spaces intended for guests to gather. Our children were simply being children, and at no point were they destructive or out of control. Despite that, the staff repeatedly gave us disapproving looks and made us feel as though our presence was an inconvenience. No family should feel uncomfortable for using a hotel’s common areas as paying guests. Overall, this hotel fell well below expectations in terms of cleanliness, quality, and hospitality. I would never stay here again, and I cannot recommend it to families. Even if you’re not traveling with children, there are several nearby hotels that appeared cleaner, more updated, and far more welcoming. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope sharing my experience helps other travelers make an informed decision before booking.

Sadly, a cold attitude the moment we walked into the hotel. Milton, at the friend desk seemed like he was bothered when asked a question. Actually, he was quite rude to one of my friends. Hamilton, the bartender, was delightful, very friendly, as was the breakfast staff. The room lacked some basic amenities, such as Kleenex, frig, extra pillows, makeup mirror.

I wanted to share my sincere gratitude for making my stay so enjoyable. The comfort, care, and excellent service truly made it a memorable experience. A very special thank you to hotel manager Helena for the beautiful gesture of wishing me on my birthday. That thoughtful touch made me feel truly valued and added so much warmth to my visit. The staff hospitality made the hotel feel like a home away from home, and I deeply appreciate everything. The delicious breakfast each morning was a real highlight, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. I look forward to returning soon and will gladly recommend Hotel Vila Nova to my friends and family.
