Verde Mar & Spa

We originally booked this hotel for a quick layover (just 25 mins from PDL), but a Boston snowstorm turned our short stay into an extended retreat. It was a blessing in disguise. The views are truly jaw-dropping—we didn’t even bother turning on the TV because we couldn't take our eyes off the horizon, which is visible from almost everywhere in the building. I am in architecture, and trained to find mistakes in buildings, but this facility was well-designed, in great condition, and very clean. Even in February, the walk to the beach was beautiful. The dining was exceptional, with professional service to match. What truly sets this place apart, however, is the staff. They are more than just "friendly"—they are genuinely invested in your experience. We enjoyed their company so much we almost wanted to be friends with them! A special thank you to Andre, who went above and beyond by having the chef prepare a special plate of mushrooms (sem-ovos) for my wife during the breakfast buffet. I don’t have a single negative thing to say. If you're wondering about the photos: believe them. The marketing shots are 100% real.

We booked Verde Mar & SPA to relax with our baby during a 5-night stay in August 2025. Instead, we got over 70 bed bug bites in a single night, an emergency Claritin trip, and zero accountability. We woke up after night 1 to my legs covered in clustered bites — I counted over 70. I've uploaded photos because I wish I'd seen a warning like this before booking. When we reported it: Manager dismissed them as “mosquitoes” Told us to pay for our own laundry Made us wait hours for a room change with a baby and luggage Refused to offer a refund or even spa access — only 1 dinner comped The worst part? We came directly from home and showed evidence, yet were told they “couldn’t accept responsibility.” Pretty pool, decent view — but no hotel stay is worth this level of stress, pain, or denial. Ask questions before you book. Specifically: When was the last professional treatment for bed bugs? Because during our stay — it was not taken seriously.

The Staff was amazing!!! Luis was extremely helpful went as far to setup a map on my husbands phone of sites to visit ! Along with restaurant reviews . The breakfast buffet was good. Rooms were large, clean and excellent views of the ocean Definitely would stay again .

This is not a 5 star hotel by NY or London standards, however, we really enjoyed our stay and are very satisfied that we picked this property. Front end staff is very friendly and helpful. There was usually a dispenser with cucumber water and sometimes baked good waiting at the entrance. Plenty of free parking, even late at night. Our ocean view room was spacious and very clean. We would open the balcony door the second we walked into the room to enjoy the sounds of ocean. We asked for the room far from elevators, as a result, the balcony overlooked an empty lot of earth, and then, there was ocean. But that did not bother us. If you get room in the middle, you will see pool, then ocean. Ask for 1st (which is actually second floor) or 2nd (which is actually 3rd floor). The views from Ground floor (floor 0) are not as good. Lobby has pretty views, couches and music in the evening. Lots of choices for breakfast, however, the main food groups (eggs, bacon, pancakes) were not very delicious. But there were cheeses, juices, nespresso coffee machine, fruits, baked goods. Beautiful outdoor pool. Beautiful indoor heated pool, but the temperature of the pool room was kept high, so it was not very comfy to be there for a long time. Center of the island, so easy drive no matter which direction you are heading.

We loved our stay at the Verde Mar! The staff were so nice and helpful! Location was great! View was amazing! Food was good! The disappointing things were in the rooms. While newish and large - the beds were very hard, they can only accommodate one piece of luggage off the floor and there was no dresser/drawers to place things if you wanted to unpack. Portable luggage racks and additional hooks in the bathroom and rooms would go along way in helping if the expense of actual furniture with drawers is too costly. We ended up bringing in a balcony chair and table just to have some place to sit something. Also be aware that the hotel due to the land it's built on is very long and there is only one entrance to get into the hotel. If you can stay on the first floor pool side you can access everything much more easily in and out the rooms patio door. We stayed in room 50 at the very end because it had a walk-in shower. This setup was interesting as it had 2 separate bedrooms which worked out well for us. We would stay here again but would definitely bring portable storage with us such as over the door shoe holders etc.
