White Exclusive Suites & Villas

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at the White. The views are beautiful, the property clean and very relaxing. We stayed on a first floor room; we liked the convenience of being able to walk right out, we never felt it was too noisy (as some other reviews mentioned). If we stayed again I would maybe try for an upgraded upstairs room solely for the light - the first floor room was a little dark in the bathroom area, otherwise was totally fine! The breakfast provided every morning was more than plentiful! Fresh juice of the day, breads and butter and jam and then able to order off the menu. We ate dinner there the first night, which was tasty but by far our most expensive meal of the trip (expected since at a hotel). The pool was great and we loved that it was heated, since some of the days were a little chilly, even in July. (We stayed at the sister property, Santa Barbara, after this and their pool was not heated and was too cold to enjoy) We really enjoyed our stay here. It felt relaxed and special, and we hope to be back on day!

We genuinely enjoyed our dinner and the overall atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food or the venue. The staff came across as rather unfriendly, even a bit grumpy at times. That’s a shame, because at a place like this, especially with premium prices, you expect hospitality to be just as exceptional as the cuisine. Overall, it’s definitely worth visiting for the food and the spectacular setting, but I hope they pay more attention to the guest experience in the future.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Residence Azores by White Hotel. We stayed in one of their brand-new private villas, just a one-minute walk from the main hotel. There are only five villas, and I believe we were among the very first guests to stay there, which made the experience feel even more special. The level of service was exceptional. The concierge team went above and beyond to make our stay effortless—from arranging rental cars to be delivered and picked up directly at the villa, to booking restaurants, delivering breakfast every morning, and helping with every request in between. They were incredibly responsive, attentive, and genuinely cared about making us feel comfortable. It truly felt like a luxury experience with the warmth of being at home. The villa itself is stunning. Everything is brand new, beautifully designed, and finished to a very high standard. The interiors have a sophisticated, modern aesthetic with elegant finishes, comfortable furnishings, and a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Outside, we loved having our own private hot tub, which we used every day, as well as the pool, which was perfect on the warmer afternoons. The location in Lagoa was ideal. It made an excellent base for exploring São Miguel, with most attractions an easy drive away. There is also a convenient mini market just a couple of minutes' walk from the villa and a larger grocery store only a few minutes away by car. The only small issue we encountered was that the hot water pressure in Villa #4 was inconsistent on a couple of the showers. Given that the villas are brand new, I suspect this is simply the kind of minor adjustment that comes with opening a new property, and I'm confident it will be resolved quickly. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. The combination of beautiful accommodations, outstanding hospitality, and an excellent location made this one of the highlights of our trip to the Azores. We would happily return and highly recommend Residence Azores to anyone looking for a luxurious, private, and relaxing stay on São Miguel.

Location is fantastic! Views, the decorations, presentation were fantastic! I’m not talking about the villas but only the dinner experience on the spot. Very slow. Food was not at the point required, had to go back. Was ok, not wow experience. Crazy thing (as for Portugal in general), was bringing the bill with 10% tip “included”, if we agree, but it’s “included”? Very centric on American tourist. Place and views make sense, service is not famous, considering the place was empty 🤷‍♀️

This was a return trip for us to White, as we had visited 6 years before and vowed to return. This time around, White was owned by Singular Resorts, and although some things had changed (new eating space, addition of a hot tub on property, more structure in terms of reserving the workout/yoga space, etc.), thankfully much remained the same. This time around, we stayed in a much nicer Ocean Suite on the second floor, and like other reviewers, this room is far superior to the Unique Suites and worth the splurge. Also like other reviewers, our praise of the staff cannot be overstated - Anna, Hugo, Emma and everyone else were friendly, helpful, and all around amazing and the staff truly is the star of the show at White. Although in hindsight we wish we had considered splitting our time with the other Singular property on Santa Barbara beach/North side of the island, White really holds a special place in our hearts, and the waterfront location is simply second to none and to my knowledge cannot be found anywhere else on the island. Also, the addition of the Logoa walking/jogging path nearby is wonderful since White has no workout facility. The food was really excellent (albeit limited in variety), with the aged meats and fresh Azoran yogurt stealing the show. Thank you again White for yet another perfect experience!
