BlueBay Villas Doradas

This resort presented an unexpected surprise. I was leery about Puerto Plata, but this hotel made us believers of this destination. Flight: Air Transat out of Toronto was seamless. The plane and staff was consistent with what we have come to expect of air travel in Canada. Transit to hotel was in small vans pulling a trailer for luggage. The trip was a quick 20 minutes Check in: seamless. We were greeted with non-alcoholic drinks, bellboy carried our luggage and waked us to our room. Room: we upgraded to superior to ensure a balcony. The resort is older, so the room, on the third floor, is spacious but sparsely decorated. We aren’t there for the room, so this is not a huge dissatisfied. The bed however was uncomfortable. This is the only area I could suggest improvement. The air conditioning worked too well; it was chilly sleeping but in just encouraged snuggling. The Resort: the resort is older but well maintained. There are villas and 3 story walk ups. The resort is small so everything is close. The lobby (and lobby bar), buffet, night entertainment and pools are all at the front. The beach is a short walk on a well maintained walkway and entertaining bridges. Along the way, the turtles look up at you looking for treats, birds are making all kinds of calls and the local goose population stay in their area and ignore you. Beach: spectacular. Beautiful palapas (we secured the same one each day), clean beach (raked daily near the beach bar and a tractor raked the water front beach on alternating days). NO SARGASSUM!!! You can walk virtually as far as you can on the beach. Beach Bar: available 24 hours also housed the Italian and Sea Food à la cartes. Also well maintained bathrooms and a shower. The drinks were tasty and plentiful. Staff was generally pleasant, but some staff - waiters and bartenders- could be friendlier. We took $1 US for bar and buffet tips and $5 CDN for outstanding service.

Wonderful hotel, very clean, dated rooms but no mold, cleaned every day, pool was wonderful, all of them, service better impossible, CHICKEN AT SNACK BAR imposible better, All cheff in the restaurants very friendly and lovely, at buffet, snack bar and a la carte, 10/10. Beach is amazing with Bali style, same pools (3 pools), foid was very tasty and fresh, a lot options of salads protein and oastas and veggie options, the only complain is liquors, the worst wine I DRINK EVER IN MY LIFE, SAME RUM, WHISKY ETC. I recomend to get in duty free the drinks you will take. In a la carta all peoplevreturn the wine, if you want better option you have to pay us $7 per glass or more, first time in my lifevI see whisky clear luke water, if you want better you have to pay us $7 per shot, I always went to zcuba, for 15 years an I eat lobster in buffet and Cuban day, here is us$60 per tail

I'm here and it's a excellent place and I enjoy it alot cause I have danced with the entertainment staff and jovanny is such an energetic and fun guy!!
