Beautiful hotel. Clean and nice rooms. The season here in August is incredibly humid so lots of things felt wet. I stayed in a deluxe sweet and it was very nice. The staff were attentive and wonderful.

Casa Colonial is truly a gem in Puerto Plata. The location is absolutely amazing, but what makes this hotel so special is the exceptional staff, impeccable service, and incredible attention to every detail. The owners’ presence and personal involvement can be felt throughout the property, giving it a warmth and level of care that is rare to find. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is beautiful, and every stay feels special. A truly exceptional hotel that we look forward to returning to again and again!

A True Boutique Luxury Experience – One of the Dominican Republic’s Hidden Gems After spending several weeks exploring the Dominican Republic and staying at a variety of hotels, Casa Colonial Beach & Spa was, without question, one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re looking for a large all-inclusive resort with loud music, crowded pools, and nonstop entertainment, this is not the place. But if you appreciate personalized service, understated luxury, beautiful architecture, exceptional food, and genuine tranquility, Casa Colonial is absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel sincerely welcomed. Every interaction felt warm and authentic rather than scripted. The entire team seemed to take genuine pride in making each guest’s stay memorable, and it showed. Our room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and impeccably clean. The housekeeping staff deserves special recognition—not only was everything spotless, but the room was refreshed beautifully throughout our stay. The grounds are lush, tropical, and meticulously maintained. The entire property has an intimate feel that larger resorts simply can’t replicate. It feels more like staying at a private estate than at a hotel. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is stunning, yet never felt crowded. Even though Playa Dorada is a public beach, the hotel creates a peaceful atmosphere where it feels wonderfully secluded. One of the biggest surprises was the dining. Every meal was beautifully presented and consistently delicious. We enjoyed breakfast each morning overlooking the gardens and ocean, and dinners were among the best we had during our travels through the Dominican Republic. The quality of the ingredients and attention to detail were outstanding. What impressed me most, however, was the atmosphere. There is a calm elegance throughout the property that encourages you to slow down, disconnect, and simply enjoy where you are. In today’s world, that’s becoming increasingly rare. Casa Colonial isn’t trying to be the biggest or busiest resort in Puerto Plata. Instead, it succeeds by doing something far more difficult—it delivers an intimate, refined luxury experience with impeccable service and attention to detail. We left feeling genuinely refreshed and already discussing when we could return. If you value boutique hotels over mega-resorts, this property is an absolute gem and deserves every bit of its reputation as one of the finest places to stay in Puerto Plata. A spectacular hotel and beach 20 minutes from the Puerto Plata cruise port. My wife and I were on a cruise and booked a day pass for this hotel during our port stay. Booked directly with the hotel, not through the cruise line. Amazing, amazing find. Beautiful grounds, buildings and beach. For a very reasonable price, we got the use of a hotel room, the restaurant, pool, spa, etc. Room and common spaces were spotlessly clean. Having the use of the actual hotel room for the day was so convenient - we could shower and change comfortably, instead of in a cabana on the beach. Stayed for lunch, and the restaurant (both food and service) were amazing. Staff could not have been nicer. We are actually considering coming back for a long weekend, we liked it so much. Highly recommend.

As beautiful as the rooms, food, and facilities are at Casa Colonial Beach & Spa, what truly makes this hotel extraordinary is the people. Every single member of the staff was gracious, warm, and genuinely attentive. From the moment we were picked up by the hotel shuttle, the experience felt seamless. When we arrived, Odalis greeted us with such warmth that he set the tone for the entire stay before we even stepped inside. Franklyn then made the check-in process effortless and welcoming. Our room was kept immaculate by Monica, whose housekeeping was efficient, thoughtful, and wonderfully unobtrusive. Even simple moments became memorable. Jordan and Joel made stopping by the lobby bar a pleasure each evening, and Rosalina created a heavenly poolside atmosphere with her delicious drinks and welcoming smile. Everything else - from room service to the restaurant, the spa, golf arrangements, and the beach - was excellent. The entire experience felt polished and relaxing from beginning to end. A special thank-you as well to Victoria (breakfast), Perla (spa), Felix (who kindly shuttled us by golf cart to nearby restaurants and shops), and Hilary and Ramon, who were all wonderful. I’ve taken many vacations, but I’ve never left one remembering the names of so many people who made the stay special. At Casa Colonial, I did - because they truly are that remarkable. We did not want to leave.
