Our stay at the Bahia Principe Escape Ambar in Punta Cana was amazing from start to finish. The staff were genuinely friendly, warm, and welcoming everywhere we went, and they always greeted us with a smile and went out of their way to help. The resort was spotless. Our room, the pools, the restaurants, and the grounds were all kept beautifully clean every day. We also loved how convenient everything was. Restaurants, bars, pools and the beach were all right on the property, so we could relax without ever needing to leave. A special shout-out goes to Desiree by the pool, who was a huge part of what made our stay so amazing. Her energy, kindness, and attention to every little detail made us feel like family, and our pool days wouldn't have been the same without her. We can't wait to come back. Highly recommend!

We had our holiday at the very end of September for 2 weeks. Initially we had booked into another hotel on the resort, however we asked to be moved to The Ámbar. A manager named Jesus, was very accommodating and helped facilitate the move for us from one hotel to the other. I can’t remember the managers name at The Ambar, but again he was most welcoming/helpful. There were 7 of us in our group and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was one of our parties 60th birthdays whilst we were there and the hotel went above and beyond decorating the table with the balloons/table decorations etc we’d brought over and they supplied birthday cakes (at our request) at very short notice, for breakfast and after the evening meal. The hotel gave the feel of luxury and was especially nice with it being adults only! The coffee shop is a particularly nice touch, being able to pop in and walk out with a speciality coffee or iced frappe but not having to pay for it! The choice of cocktails was extensive. Great lobby bar. The buffet offers great choice (2 of our party were gluten free too) but additionally we really enjoyed the cocktails at Limbo, and the Al a carte dining at The Italian restaurant and also the restaurant called Meat. The staff and food there were superb. The rooms were clean, fresh and airy. The entertainment was varied both in the day by the poolside and in the evening and the entertainment staff really put themselves out. Would recommend the Saona Island trip - just fabulous! (And go VIP if possible….not much more money but so worth it) Definitely take tip money. It’s a thing out there but also nice to do! We took American dollars. Overall a fabulous 2 week holiday.

What has happen to this resort?!?!? Around 10 years ago we bought into the Privilege Club during a stay as we were so impressed! I wouldn’t even consider doing so based on our current visit. All the ‘luxury’ has been removed, no pillow menu, no turn down service, can’t even get a serviette let alone a coaster for your drink. Have to ask at every meal for salt & pepper. I understand cutbacks but they’ve gone way beyond that. Branded drinks no longer available in all bars, only in the club lounges - why? Still a beautiful, clean resort but service has also gone downhill. For example….. Upon entering the poolside grill one lunchtime, my husband said a cheery “Hola” to the hostess - a young girl slumped against the wall who didn’t even raise her eyes. No reply so he asked her “Do we sit anywhere?” - again no reply, didn’t even move from the wall - maybe she was holding it up? So he said “I guess that’s a yes?” She reluctantly raised her eyes to glare at him but still no words passed her lips, so we seated ourselves. Last night we visited the lobby for our usual after dinner nightcap - I ordered a Baileys cocktail, while my husband asked for an Irish coffee. The look of horror on the waitresses face was laughable as she shrieked “Irish coffee?!?!?!” You would swear he’d requested the head of her first born child, served on a silver platter from the look she gave him. She glared at him for several seconds then strolled away sulkily. Around 5 minutes later she returned with the coffee (which was delicious), looked at me and said “no Baileys” Obviously too much trouble to fetch a bottle from the store, so I ordered a rum and coke which took so long to arrive, my husband had finished his coffee - think he was too scared to order another drink after pulling the knives from his back following his previous request. Yesterday we spent the day at the Aquamarine pool. The service was excellent. We visited the buffet for lunch and were so surprised to be met by a smiling hostess who immediately placed a drink in our hands and welcomed us. Salt & pepper pots on every table - I was almost tempted to take some to the Ambar. On a positive note the bar staff and entertainment staff are excellent. The guys in the Privilege Club also very efficient and very helpful, as are the drivers. Overall, it is sadly no longer the luxury resort it was 😞
