Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine

WE WERE STOLEN INSIDE THE ROOM AND THEY DIDNT DO ANYTHING I am writing this review because Hyatt failed to follow up after promising a response within 72 hours regarding stolen items. It has been a week already. we stayed from Oct 16 to 20. We did not leave the resort for any excursions. On Oct 17, after our first room cleaning, a power bank vanished from our room. We originally thought we misplaced it, but on check-out day (Oct 20), we realized my boyfriend’s AirPods (which remained inside his backpack in the room) were also missing. Neither item was ever taken to the pool or beach. Before leaving, we spent LOT OF time filing a formal security report and following they procedures . Security fully searched our luggage and the room, took down all details, and assured us of an update within 72 hours regarding a resolution or reimbursement. It has now been a week and we have received zero communication. We were robbed inside our room after housekeeping, cooperated with all their procedures, and were completely ignored once we left. Unacceptable security and customer support for Hyatt.

We have just returned from our 6th visit to Aquamarine and we still love it, we had slight reservations about changes due to the merger with Hyatt. The staff as always were exceptional from the General manager Rolando and the team at reception to the pool waiters and room service, special mention to Juan and Yorkie for the pool drinks service and also to the guys in the lobby bar Andy, Luis, Francisco and Delryn. We requested a room change as the one we were originally given was near the swim up bar pool and was a bit too noisy, Rolando was extremely helpful and left instructions for Luis who made sure the room move was completely easy and insisted on showing us the room before we agreed to it, an exceptionally nice young man and very polite. One down side is that since the merger it appears that small things have changed like only one pack of coffee being put in the room which means if you use it when you come up from the pool you don’t have any for the morning and I had to ask several times before it was rectified but all in all we had an amazing time and will definitely return soon. The other major complaint and it has nothing to do with the staff is that when the merger took place we lost all of our loyalty points built up from previous visits as did a lot of other people and Hyatt do not seem to want to rectify this which is an issue I fully intend to further.

We had a lovely stay at Bahia Principe Aquamarine in the Dominican Republic, and overall, it was a great holiday! ROOM. The room was relatively clean but in serious need of refurbishment. Rusty bathroom fittings, very dated electrical sockets and switches, and incredibly dusty wall artwork all need attention. The room was also very humid, leaving our clothes damp by the end of the week. The shower drainage was slow, causing water to build up. Overall, the room needs modernising. FOOD. The buffet had plenty of choice. One of the absolute highlights of the Bahia Principe complex is the number of à la carte restaurants available. Being able to book a different restaurant every evening and experience different cuisines is a fantastic bonus and really adds to the overall experience. BEACH. The beach is lovely, with a little bar and plenty of sun loungers available, so we never struggled to find a place to relax. Sargassum seaweed was a bit of an issue during our stay, but the staff work hard to keep the beach clean. Tractors and teams of workers were out every day collecting the seaweed. POOL AND ENTERTAINMENT. The entertainment was excellent, with something going on throughout the day and evening. There were daily pool activities, including bingo, aqua aerobics, Salsa dancing, pool kayaking and darts, so there was always something to get involved in if you wanted to. A special shout-out to Luis, who did a fantastic job engaging with guests and making the activities fun. In the evenings, there were shows, music and dancing, giving everyone plenty of opportunities to participate. Whether you wanted to join in with the activities or simply relax by the pool, there was a good balance of entertainment and downtime. Overall, we had a very enjoyable holiday.

The rooms was clean and cool. It was great value for money. The customer service was great from check in the room service and the dining area.

My first experience of the Dominican Republic but have to say that this hotel was somewhat of a disappointment. The room was a very good size but was somewhat dated. We had numerous issues with the room that we never reported as other people had reported issues but nothing was done. We struggled to get cold water from the shower so it was always scolding hot, when you did get cold water it could change to hot at any moment. The whirlpool bath didn't work as when turned in the plastic jet was shot out of its housing causing water to go everywhere. The cleaning standard is a little poor with hair being left in the bathroom for days on end. The pool area is lovely with plenty of Sunbeds but the hotel need to enforce the no private music being played, it ruins it for other guests. The day time entertainment is ok with an activity in the morning & afternoon but struggled to enjoy the entertainment team as a couple of the lads could be rude. The hotel needs to look at whether having young ladies twerking is really entertainment as it was a little crude. The food at the buffet is plentiful & somewhat varied with different themes every evening, it tasted ok & certainly did not go hungry. The evening entertainment was for some reason on a 1 week cycle instead of 2, so we ended up having to make our entertainment in week 2 as we had already seen all the shows. Overall the staff are friendly but the best service is reserved for those guests who throw around the dollars which is a little unfair. Would i return to the Dom Republic? Yes Would i stay at this hotel? Absolutely not, Not 5 stars in my opinion.
