Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine

Definitely not a 5 star. 3 star maximum. On arrival dirty floor noted in closet, lock on patio door broken, tub not working with hair in tub, hair dryer not working with plug that looked like a fire hazard. Mini fridge was empty. Pool was great with good entertainment including at night shows. Lobby and pool bar staff efficient. Pool side service was hit or miss. Lunch food at the grill by pool was same food everyday no variety. Buffet was good with a lot of items. Went to the Mediterranean restaurant had a terrible experience. Noise outside of room by pool was loud during shows which is to be expected. Travelled to many several inclusive resorts however this one didn't make my favorite. Did try to make the best of it as I was in Dominican Republic with family.

My wife and I have been going to this resort since 2001 every year sometimes for a week sometimes two weeks and bringing lots people over the years. We were notified that Hyatt had purchased 49% of the Bahia chain and have gotten rid of all of their members. They have now lost quite a few people as VIP members should be valued at this resort. They are the ones that recommend other people a ton of money at this resort and because of fact that we can use the entire resort being VIP they figure it’s costing them a fortune when in fact it’s costing them next to nothing. It’s all over the Internet right now where VIP members points were all taken away and never transferred over to Hyatt. They will never getanother nickel from me.

Nice pool,staff very nice, food ok had worse.service in restaurant hit and miss. They have a counter that cooks meat for you. Waited 7 to 8 mins no one turned up, went to next station to get roast chicken and no one there waited and waited until I shouted down to the ladies who were chatting and could not be bothered to serve. Room ok bit dated. Our room was next to the road to the kitchen and seem to be were the staff come in, so had noise most of the nights and in evening loud staff going home. My shower head was broken asked 2 times to get it fixed, In the end gave up. Entertainment during the night was as expected, however most hotels have a 2 week turn over of Entertainment, how every here is is a 7 day rota, once you have seen the fire show and the circus show you have seen it, would I come again NO

My husband and I recently returned from a vacation at Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine and had a wonderful time. The staff at the resort were wonderful, particularly Juan at the main pool. He was so friendly, energetic and a wonderful ambassador for the resort. You couldn't help having a smile on your face when he was around! We liked the fact that we could get unlimited a la carte dinners and enjoyed many restaurants. Our favourite was the Fish Market down at the beach. The food was delicious and the service was great. We also really enjoyed Limbo at Amber and El Olivo at Aquamarine. The only disappointment was the loyalty program. Under the old loyalty program we were Black status which gave us special perks. Under the Hyatt program, there was no loyalty recognition. Being Hyatt Explorist status should have given us free premium wifi and a room upgrade. I suspect that our room was supposed to be an upgrade (we were in the building nearest the buffet and main lobby), but we looked out onto a solid wall. The premium wifi was not free, although the regular wifi was very good. Having to re-qualify for loyalty status every year doesn't seem to align with our vacation expectations.

Great vacation again for our 3rd time at Aquamarine. Great service, great food. Resort and room were clean.
