Pictures make this resort look amazing. It is relatively clean. Staff is friendly for the most part, but you will find a few miserable ones. Very few can speak fair English and understand less. Ala Carte restaurants are hit and miss. Availability is horrible as some are closed certain days limiting your choices. Out of 7 days we could only reserve 2. The buffet is your average Golden Corral type food and often repeats. Consistent service is hard to come by. Maid service did not finish many days till 5pm. In my opinion this is not the Hyatt experience I've come to expect. Also way too many smokers at this resort especially around the pools. Really a turn off. Won't return to this Hyatt property.

Our Dominican Adventure — Sun, Rum, Friends… and an Engagement! 🇩🇴💍 Where do we even begin? We came back to this resort because, honestly, it had already started to feel like home. And once again, it delivered an absolutely unforgettable holiday. This time, though, there was one rather important difference… I GOT ENGAGED! 💍❤️ After nine years together, I finally asked Rachel to marry me — and she said yes! The Dominican Republic seemed like the perfect place to do it, and this resort gave us the backdrop for a memory we will genuinely carry for the rest of our lives. But the holiday wasn't just about the two of us. We were lucky enough to share so many laughs and great moments with our friends Eric and Jacqueline, Keba, Sharon, Jayne and Gaz. Between the drinks, entertainment, ridiculous amounts of food, sunshine and questionable decisions after a few rum cocktails, there are memories here that we'll be talking about for years. 😂 And then there are the staff. The people who make a resort more than just a resort. This list is only a tiny fraction of the people who looked after us, because we'd need about three pages to name everyone — waiters, kitchen staff, reception, gardeners, maintenance, cleaners and everyone else working behind the scenes. You see them everywhere, working incredibly hard, and they deserve enormous credit. A few absolutely deserve their own royal titles: 👑 Cristina — Queen of Towels Somehow our room was always sorted. Towels appearing like magic. We genuinely started wondering if Cristina had a secret towel portal. 🍹 Celeste — BAR QUEEN 👑 An absolute legend. Somehow drinks appeared before we even properly realised we wanted them. That's not service. That's witchcraft. 🍸 Pedro — MIX KING 👑 Pedro deserves a special mention. He remembered us from our previous visit and welcomed us back like old friends. The man knows his drinks, knows his guests and is an absolute character. We even had to leave him a little souvenir as a thank-you! 🍽️ Maria S — Restaurant Superstar Always friendly, always welcoming and another one of those people who makes you feel genuinely looked after rather than simply being another guest. 💃 Maria — Entertainment Legend The entertainment team work incredibly hard to keep everyone smiling, dancing and involved. Maria was brilliant and helped make the days and evenings even more fun. 🎉 Mariano — ENTERTAINMENT KING 👑 This man deserves his crown. 😂 Full energy, full personality and somehow always managing to get people involved. You can't hide when Mariano is around! 👨‍🍳 Ramon — Kitchen King 👑 And of course, the kitchen team deserve massive respect. You can enjoy the food without thinking about the army of people behind every meal — but we noticed. Ramon and the whole kitchen crew were fantastic. And honestly, that's the point. A resort can have beautiful beaches, pools, restaurants and sunshine — but it's the people who turn a holiday into a memory. To everyone we met, from the people we named here to the many whose names we unfortunately didn't catch: Thank you. ❤️ You made us laugh, looked after us, remembered us, poured us drinks, fed us, entertained us and generally helped us have one hell of a holiday. We'll be leaving with fantastic memories, some new friendships, probably a slightly unhealthy relationship with Dominican rum… …and an engagement ring. The main issue is the sea- it is not the sea, but the lake created by people and water seems like oily or dirty. The hotel is ok, the french restaurant is very good, beautiful and the service is incredible. People who work there are friendly. Cocktails done in restaurants are very good but cocktails made by Ruben in the bar are very bad. Better to go to the neighbour hotel. Yoga is not good, they have no idea of any yoga postures. They should take a real yoga teacher or call it stetching. Breakfasts are very good. Music at the pool is awful and loud. They should do a nice chill music. People at reception demends on days, Elizabeth was very good.

2nd time at this hotel and unfortunately it will be the last. We returned as although we could not swim in the sea (due to the brown fur contamination from the nearby river and jelly fish) everything else was fantastic. I was notified six weeks before our departure that the hotel had been taken over by the Hyatt Group, which we mistakenly thought would make it even better. We had a room a few along from our one from last visit which was fine. The biggest negative was the food quality and choice, the food in the buffet was often just warm. Our favourite restaurant last time was the Le Gourmet Restaurant, which this time around was the worst, ruining my birthday. The hotel has introduced a new system for booking the a la carte restaurants which was causing a lot of people to get very annoyed. Apparently as soon as you book and have a reference you can log onto their website and pre book the restaurants - even months in advance, so if like us you are unaware of this you can't get a reservation. The staff were less friendly and not as happy as our previous visit with the exception of the staff on the quiet pool bar.
