Bahia Principe Explore La Romana

We recently returned from an 11-night all-inclusive family holiday, and unfortunately, we wouldn’t return. Rooms: Poorly maintained, with what appeared to be mould around the bathroom, air conditioning and curtains. Our air conditioning and safe were faulty, and despite reporting these issues numerous times, we had to ask Tui to contact the hotel in order for them to fix both, on day 6 of our holiday! Housekeeping was also inconsistent, with maids skipping room cleans. Shower temperature was sometimes lukewarm at best. Food: Very repetitive, with concerning food-handling practices at the buffet, including cross-contact between dishes. I became unwell early in the holiday and so did my friends son and subsequently felt uncomfortable eating most of the buffet food. We ended up eating outside the resort three times despite paying for all-inclusive. You can eat at the other 3 restaurants only once. La Gormet was Pescado were nice, wasn’t keen on the Italian. Staff and customer service: Some of the staff were incredibly rude and dismissive. Rather than feeling welcomed, we often felt like an inconvenience when raising legitimate concerns. Problems were repeatedly passed between staff and TUI representatives, with very little actually being resolved. Entertainment: Very disappointing for a resort marketed towards families, particularly the children’s activities. Location and prices: The hotel is extremely isolated, with very little nearby. Unfortunately, the resort shop appears to take full advantage of this. Some outrageous prices included $29 for a bucket and spade, $12 for a packet of crisps and $39 for sunscreen (USD) Overall, what should have been a relaxing family holiday turned into a stressful experience of chasing repairs, dealing with rude staff and worrying about cleanliness and food standards. Beautiful surroundings, the grounds are well kept but poor standards elsewhere, inconsistent housekeeping and disappointing service completely let this hotel down. We certainly wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Where can I start with this... I will be writing to Hyatt head office, I have stayed in Bahia resorts before never have I encountered such lazy and rude entertainment staff, they are that lazy the say the app is not right they arrange the day (if I knew this I would not of booked) the resort is boring even the excursions guy could not be bothered selling a trip to us, the ginger guy in reception selling timeshare just rolled his eyes when he sire us oh you are English I found the resort racist towards white British even down to the young British kids the entertainment staff would cheat so the natives won how does a mark on shuffle board of 25 & 15 become a winner with 200 points to a native but a young British kid got 225 and lost ( rooky mistake leaving the clipboard where people can read it) one female ents (with braces openly insulted my husband in front of people nobody found it funny only her and her ents team giggling in Spanish to each other) also double check the booked restaurants we booked 6 went to 3 the future ones just vanished and was told we had used them how when the date had not even arrived yet, I would not return or recommend this hotel to anybody

I don;t understand some of te reviews for this hotel, we have just returned from a 2 week holiday and found it to be absolutely lovely, no complaints, staff, hotel, pools ,bars, service - everything was spot on , just go you wont be disappointed

Beautiful hotel. Stayed in 2714, and oceanfront room...idyllic. Plenty of choice with food and drinks, places to eat. Ernesto at the check in desk was super nice and made our holiday start in a positive way. The entertainment team work so hard and they were all a lot of fun. The Beach Party was especially good. Franklin from the entertainment team was friendly, approachable and a lot of fun. He was amazing! The beach was beautiful, as soon as any seaweed appeared the maintenance team were out raking it up. The bell boys were great. Always smiling. We didn't want to leave, but I will definitely come back!

I have just returned from the Bahia Principe Explore La Ramana this morning... The grounds are lovely and well looked after. The beach was nice to relax but the sea was full of seaweed. The TUI rep here was something else.... Told you one thing, before you book an excursion, including different prices. When you pull him up on what he had said, he denied saying it or said it was another excursion. The 3 speciality restaurants were good, but the buffet not so, On a couple of occasions the food tasted as if it had gone off, especially the salmon. I arrived on Wednesday late afternoon, and on Sunday morning I was ill. Everything was going through me. I tried not eating for 24 hours, but this did not work, I took Imodium all day on Tuesday, and Wednesday as I was worried about the flight home. Arrived home and still poorly.... On speaking to others, it seems that there were a lot of people suffering the same...... It really spoilt what should have been a lovely all inclusive holiday.
