If you are not booking a private pool room do not bother with the preferred service. We booked a swim up room with butler service. As soon as we arrived in our room we asked if it was possible to be moved to a quieter room as it was directly opposite the main pool swim up bar with loud music playing. We were advised that we could visit the preferred members pool where it was quieter however if we wanted to move rooms it would be an additional $980 for the week. We asked for a quieter swim up room (there are several) however we were told that as the hotel is low in occupancy they are not willing to move us unless we paid for the room with private pool. As we were tired we decided to have an early night only to find the bedding was dirty, housekeeping came and changed it immediately which was good. The butler service consists of texting via WhatsApp only and never actually seeing them We have paid for the upgrade for peace and quiet. Overall facilities are good but if you want a luxury experience this hotel is not for you

Location is an easy ride from the airport. Used Amstar and our driver both ways was very pleasant. Upon arrival to Dreams Onyx, we were very welcomed and immediately felt like we were in paradise! We came last week for our 20th anniversary, so we booked a preferred swim up suite. Loved it! Only thing we would do different, is book a preferred private plunge pool our next stay. We spent most of our pool time at the preferred pool so that is a bit closer. We were in building 5, a few doors down from the preferred lounge and our swim up suite was right across from the bar and little hut where they sell certain items. It was pretty clean. Our room had a few minor complaints that we disregarded and our housekeeping team attended to them the next morning. No need to complain to anyone. It is a very fun, quiet, family friendly yet couple friendly resort. You have the option to go next door to Breathless for a more party vibe if you choose. Food was good but not my absolute favorite when it comes to variety. That being said, this would never stop me from returning. There is plenty for everyones tastes. Food: buffet is sufficient. Steakhouse is good. Spice, is a must! But you need a reservation. Tamarindo, another must! We only tried Coquette at Breathless but hands down our favorite meal of the week!! Drinks: a great variety, beachy and delicious! I recommend bringing a tumbler to keep your ice and water cold, and fill less often. They will even put your drinks in them if you prefer. Use bottled water in your room for brushing teeth. Bring sunscreen...the rays are strong. The sargassum was really stinky, but they were on top of cleaning it up. Nothing I would really complain about. Only annoying thing is the presentation they invite you to. But we got a free one hour massage, one hour hydrotherapy session, and some leisure case. So all is well. The burger bar....ehhhh. Ice cream and coffee shop yum! Honorable mentions: Jenny at the Preferred Lounge and Main Pool Bar. She helped me discover some yummy cocktails. And my new favorite Passion Fruit Mojito Miriam at Prelude Bar. Like our little mama! Took such great care of us every evening before and after dinner. I miss her already! Ishmael, our server at the Preferred pool! He never let our drinks run dry! "its Drinky Drinky time" Jeffry our server at the main pool. Quiet but very sweet and attentive. Dania-the worlds best massage therapist!!! Just do it!!! We ARE returning in 2028....sadly next year wont work due to a planned surgery and long recovery!

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the most amazing staff who made us feel so welcome. The room was amazing and there was a great choice of restaurants and bars. The entertainment team around the pool were amazing, Denisse, Tifany and Pinapple where amazing, so much to keep you entertained and involved. We would definitely return.

My total experience was a 10 out of 10. Our butler Zorro was completely amazing and I would highly recommend him! He will be definitely requested by myself and friends when we return. I have never been to the same. Resort twice. But I will definitely be returning!

Outstanding experience, highly recommend to any families out there. Restaurants were great, service and staff were awesome and made our stay one to remember! Kids loved the resort! Felix at the lazy river pool bar and Elephat at the main pool bar will hook you up!
