On first glance Grand Sirenis is a beautiful looking property, but behind the attractive grounds and common building you don't have to look too close to see some cracks. while we enjoyed our stay - we relaxed, enjoyed the beach, pool and entertainment, there was a lot of room for improvement, given the price paid for our trip. our room (family suite) was in one of the older buildings, and smelt damp upon entry. The tiles in the shower area had black mould and the base of the tub was spongy underfoot. the nightstands had seen better days and the drawers didn't close properly. The bed while very comfortable didn't have bottom sheets that covered the whole bed, leaving your lower legs and fee resting on the mattress cover. The duvet had no cover, and it's hard to know how regularly they are laundered. Housekeeping comes daily, and can arrive any time after 8am - the lack of "do not disturb" signs meant for some easy wake ups. Housekeeping did a reasonable job of cleaning, however dirty glasses were often left for days before being cleared (same for the coffee maker) and the complimentary beverages were rarely restored. That said bottled water was always supplied in plentiful quantities. Food for the most part was offered in the buffet - there was lots of choice but little rotation day to day and the quality (tase) was bland at best. Items such as bacon, or proteins at dinner regularly ran out and weren't readily restocked. in our experience lining up for a custom omelette offered the best breakfast option. We did visit 4 of the speciality restaurants during out stay. NOTE - you need to book these in advance via the concierge, and availability and dining times were very limited. We enjoyed our dinners at the Mediterranean and Italian, while the Brazilian was ok and the steak house was terrible (poor cuts of meat and everything seriously over salted). The main pool was a popular place to visit and there was lottos availability of sunbeds. The pool itself was beautiful on the surface, but it should be noted that there was significant disrepair. There were pool lights hanging out of their casings at the bottom of the pool and there were multiple areas where there was tile missing from the bottom and sides of the pool. The swim up bad was fun and the staff were happy to serve you, however on multiple occasions guests were allowed to smoke/vape at the bar, in the pool and on the pool deck, despite this not being allowed. This was not policed by the staff and was disappointing. The beach was beautiful and largely deserted which was wonderful There was some seaweed during the early part of our stay but this disappeared after a few days and didn't return. The lobby bar and the outside plaza were where we spent most of our evenings, the environments were pleasant with decent entertainment to enjoy. Drinks were served at your table by the great wait team or you could go to the bars if you preferred. We did take a day trip to Saona Island (1.5 hour road trip to get to the catamaran), it was a long day but totally worth the travel. on balance we enjoyed our stay choosing not to let the items described spoil out vacation, however it would be difficult to recommend this location to others because of these flaws, and we would not return to this resort.

We have just left this place and had a fantastic time. Some lovely friendly staff and some that warm up when you greet them or say hello. Francis and his Hermano around the pool works very hard along with Jose to make sure you don’t have to lift a finger and enjoy the relaxation of the sun lounger. We had wonderful housekeepers who were extremely helpful and very friendly. Mia and Nicole were a lovely friendly duo and wanted a selfie with us for happy memories. The woman in the sports bar was wonderful, always smiley and happy and wanting to go above and beyond for us. We took the time and effort to converse with all staff trying our hardest to chat as much as we could in their language. We will most definitely be back!!!

Check-in & Room ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Check-in was great and very quick. We were given a “free upgrade”, although it did seem that this was something most guests were receiving, so I’m not sure how much of an upgrade it actually was. Our cases were delivered to the room very efficiently, which was a lovely touch. The room was clean on arrival and cleaned daily throughout our stay. The only small issue was that the fridge was often missing the beer, but apart from that, we really couldn’t fault the room. Buffet ⭐⭐⭐ Breakfast was great, lunch was okay, but we found dinner disappointing. There was plenty of choice, but it wasn’t always clear what was vegetarian, which made choosing food more difficult. Dinner also seemed to be very similar to lunch on many days, so after a while it felt quite repetitive. The pool lunch bar was a great alternative and very handy. It offered a much-needed change from the buffet, with burgers, hot dogs, fries etc., and was a convenient option when spending the day around the pool. Pool, Grounds & Beach ⭐⭐⭐⭐ We really enjoyed the pool and the grounds. The grounds were beautiful and lovely to explore, although we did feel the pool could have done with a deeper clean. The beach was particularly beautiful first thing in the morning. Watching the sunrise was one of our favourite parts of the holiday. After sunrise each morning, we would head to the coffee shop, where they made delicious coffees, including decaf and iced coffees. They also served ice cream throughout the day, which was a lovely bonus. À La Carte Restaurants ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We tried the French, Italian and Japanese restaurants, and all three were lovely. The Japanese was particularly exciting as you get to be involved in the experience, and I would definitely recommend making this a must during your stay. We were also told about and recommended several other restaurants, including Brazilian, Mediterranean, the steakhouse, fish bar and American restaurant. We were really looking forward to trying as many of these as possible during our week. Unfortunately, this is where our experience with the concierge became disappointing. On the day we arrived, we went to the concierge to make our restaurant bookings. We were told we could only book three restaurants at a time and would need to return the following day to make further bookings. During this first visit, we were also offered a “free VIP breakfast” at the members’ bar. We were told to bring our passports and all of our credit cards for the chance to win a holiday. We genuinely thought this was part of the package and were excited to take part, but it soon became clear that the breakfast was actually a sales presentation for a timeshare/membership. The sales pitch became very heavy and we felt extremely uncomfortable. We made it clear that we weren’t interested, but felt that our “no” wasn’t being accepted. We found it surprisingly difficult to leave, and at one point my friend was still being kept talking to while I was sent away to get identification. After this, we tried several times throughout the week to return to the concierge to book the other restaurants, including during our final days. Each time, we were consistently turned away and told that there was nothing available. On one occasion, we were actually told to go to the French restaurant as they would apparently be able to fit us in. We went as instructed, only to find that the restaurant was closed that evening. What made this particularly frustrating was that we noticed new guests arriving at the resort and seemingly being able to make restaurant bookings, while we had repeatedly been told there was nothing available. It left us feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed. We started to feel awkward even walking past the concierge, and couldn’t help feeling that perhaps our room number had been marked following our refusal to take part in the membership/timeshare presentation. Obviously, we can’t say for certain that this was the case, but that was genuinely how the situation made us feel. This was a real shame because we had been excited to experience all of the restaurants available at the resort. The restaurants we did manage to visit were excellent, but the difficulty we experienced with the concierge definitely took away from what should have been an enjoyable part of the holiday. Staff ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The majority of the staff throughout the resort were attentive, friendly and welcoming. A special mention has to go to Joanna, who genuinely went above and beyond. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel welcome and special, and continued to do so throughout the whole week. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her, and her friendliness really stood out. Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Overall, we had a lovely holiday and there are many things we really enjoyed about the resort. The beautiful grounds, beach, sunrise, coffee shop, pool and à la carte restaurants were all highlights. Our biggest disappointment was the concierge experience and the pressure surrounding the VIP breakfast/timeshare presentation. We completely understand that resorts offer memberships and sales presentations, but we felt the approach was too persistent and left us uncomfortable afterwards. Aside from that, we had a very enjoyable stay and met some genuinely lovely staff who helped make our holiday special.
