Punta Cana Princess

I stayed at the Punta Cana Princess in mid-October. While the property itself was beautiful, there were several areas where the resort fell short of my expectations. The Good The property was beautiful, and the grounds were well-maintained. The rooms were nice and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The pool was also very nice and well-kept. Overall, the service was good, and the staff were generally pleasant. The Bad Air Conditioning: The air conditioning in the room was disappointing. No matter what we did, the temperature wouldn't go below 78°F, making it difficult to get truly comfortable. Room Cleanliness: When I first arrived, I noticed that the hot tub and sink had not been cleaned properly, as there was hair in both. I immediately contacted room service, and to their credit, they responded quickly and resolved the issue. Food Quality and Availability: The resort advertises 24/7 food availability, but that wasn't my experience. When we arrived on Sunday, we were hungry and went to the only restaurant open near the beach. The selection was extremely limited, and the food didn't look appetizing. It appeared to have been sitting out in the heat for hours, and there were flies around the food. I tried a piece of breaded chicken that was clearly dried out from sitting too long. It was tough and unappetizing, so after one bite, I threw it away. Very disappointing. Unfortunately, the food quality didn't improve much during the rest of our stay. After a day or two, it felt like we were getting more of the same. The resort charges a premium for certain steak options, yet when I tried to order one at the steakhouse, they didn't even have it available. They offered another cut that they claimed was comparable to filet mignon, but it was anything but. Not all the restaurants were open every day, so I wasn't even able to try the Italian restaurant, which someone had recommended to me. If you're someone who values good-quality food, this resort may not be the right choice for you. We eventually decided to venture off the property and visit downtown Punta Cana, where we ate at a traditional Dominican restaurant called La Casita de Yeya. The food there was excellent and, in my opinion, far superior to what we had been eating at the resort. There was simply no comparison. Bar Selection: The bars were not fully stocked and offered very limited options. If you're looking for premium tequila, don't expect much variety; the only option I found was Cuervo. As for beer, the only choice available was Presidente. Fortunately, I enjoy Presidente, but those who prefer a wider selection may be disappointed. Beach Conditions: The amount of seaweed along the beach was extreme during our visit. Conditions can vary depending on the season and weather, but during our stay, I wouldn't recommend going into the water. Entertainment: The entertainment was another disappointment. While the entertainment staff were friendly and genuinely tried their best to get guests involved, the shows themselves were underwhelming. Much of the entertainment consisted of getting male guests to participate in activities that made them look foolish rather than providing an enjoyable or engaging show. The staff deserved credit for their effort, but the entertainment overall was boring and could use significant improvement. Gift Shop Prices: The gift shop was ridiculously expensive. Many of the items were priced at what seemed like four times what I would normally pay for the same or similar products here in the United States. I understand that prices at resorts tend to be higher, but these prices were excessive. If you need to pick up souvenirs or essentials, I'd recommend shopping elsewhere if possible rather than paying the inflated prices at the resort. Overall Impression We made the best of our stay because we were traveling with a group to celebrate my brother's birthday, and we still managed to enjoy our time together. However, based on my experience, I would not return to this resort. On a positive note, the price was reasonable. However, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The beautiful grounds, comfortable beds, and nice pool were definite positives, but the disappointing food, limited bar selection, poor air conditioning, and underwhelming entertainment ultimately overshadowed the good. If you're looking for a reasonably priced getaway and don't have high expectations for food, drinks, or entertainment, you may find this resort acceptable. But if quality dining and a more complete resort experience are important to you, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Staff friendly but not very effective. We had several problems with the room, and in particular the toilet, that were never really resolved. Food in buffet ok and steak house and Italian were excellent. Music poolside extremely loud from 3pm onwards.

We are a week in to a 10 day break and for us it has been near perfect. We were worried enough about some of the recent reviews to the point we tried to switch hotels- we are though really glad we didn’t. We are always 5 star and extremely well travelled, this has been by far our cheapest holiday for years and has been right up there with some of the very best. There are a couple of things that stops us giving it a 5 star review, it is though a very strong 4. Unlike others we have had no issues with the room. Everything works, it’s spacious, well laid out and cleaned daily ✅ We really struggle to understand the negative reviews regarding food- For us the food has been 5 star. We’ve eaten at the steak house twice. The first night was so good, we went back the next night. The buffets are great, loads of choice , fresh fruits, all sorts of meats and fish and there are multiple buffets to chose from. One day was a beach BBQ - it was outstanding. As I say we are at a loss to understand as to how anyone couldn’t enjoy the food. The service in all the restaurants and buffets has been excellent. My wife is gluten-free, they even made her some gluten-free bread and cookies. They never stop cleaning, they make fresh fruit juices of many choices in front of you in the morning. Food and dining experience for us so far 5 star and we’ve done plenty on fine dining. ✅ The pools and gardens are outstanding, extremely well maintained, they genuinely never stop cleaning the attention to detail for the gardens is exceptional. ✅ Beba and the entertainment team are exceptional- They strike the right balance of encouragement, whilst respecting those who don’t want to participate. I tend to like to be left alone, my wife takes a little encouragement, but then loves the activities she’s done, including yoga, aerobics, and plenty of Latin dancing. Thank you Beba and team for making it extra fun.✅ The couple of things pulling down the overall rating. Whilst the majority of staff go out of their way to ensure you are having the best time and nothing is too much trouble, some of those touting for business are absolute irritants As others have commented you don’t expect to be harassed on the resort at all place like this. One or two over step the mark are totally unprofessional, over the top and make you feel very uncomfortable for not excepting their very overly inflated prices. I certainly wouldn’t expect to have people outside restaurants of an evening shouting halfway across the resort to other people.- wrong vibe ❌ Loveilly from the Spa team would be a great example of how sales should be done, maybe promote her to a sales trainer. We enjoyed a great couples massage on the beach ✅ The Beach let’s the resort down, not because there’s seaweed. It’s an ocean I get that., it is small. It is not as well maintained as the other beaches, that said you can use the other sister hotels and their beaches are much nicer. The pool for us more than makes up for the disappointment of the beach and the pool is only 30 seconds away from the beach. Another little minor - fix the lighting on your signage at the entrance to the hotel, it is your first impression and many bulbs are out of the hotel name. First impressions count. We wanted a relaxing fly and flop, so far for us it really couldn’t be much better. Summary a very strong 4 star. Up the standards on the beach and get rid of the market traders from inside the hotel and it would be 5 star plus.

I don't know where to start. Any 5 star reviews on this resort are either paid reviews, done internally by staff, or just done by people with really low expectations. First, the check in process is not great. My brother and his wife arrived before my wife and I did and the staff took about an hour to find their reservation even though they had a confirmation email. Once we got through that, we figured it would be smooth sailing. But oh no......then there are the rooms. We're currently in 3222 which is the honeymoon suite. Not only are the rooms the most outdated you'll see anywhere, but the AC barely works, and they paint the furniture in order to cover up how old everything is. Good luck opening any drawers to put your clothes inside. Also, can you please put a door on the bathroom. If I'm going to get diarrhea from your food (which I'll touch on shortly), it would be great to have some privacy. So now comes the food. It's so bad that we have a group of 11 people in total counting myself, and two of us spent an entire day going to the bathroom to clear our systems out from the awful food we ate. Two others in the group have just been totally sluggish. My sister in law is just choosing not to eat. All the restaurants suck. I went to Rio which says it's a steakhouse, but they have no steak. We went to Fogo at their sister resort which is Brazilian BBQ. I bit into one piece of super dry chicken that I know was cooked hours before they opened, and I just walked out so that I wouldn't get sicker then I already was. The best food you'll have is at the buffet which is at least mediocre. Don't go to the restaurants is my best advice. My wife actually planned a beach dinner with the resort, but we decided to lose a $400 deposit because we weren't confident that the quality of the food would be good given what we've had so far. Hurts to lose $400 but we didn't want to feel more trapped then we already do. In terms of service there are a few staff that are pretty good, but overall the service is nothing to write home about. By the way, the platinum wrist bands are a joke. They get you nothing. Not worth the upgrade. Ultimately, I feel horrible for my wife since she coordinated this trip for my 50th birthday and has felt compelled to apologize to our friends and family everyday because of how awful it is here. The best times we've had on this trip so far have been off the resort including a great dinner in downtown Punta Cana. Honestly, we've felt trapped here after a few days in and can,'t wait to fly back home tomorrow and recover from this disaster. The only way to make this right would be a refund which we'll never get, and I certainly don't want any offers to come back. To the owners of this hotel, please reinvest in the rooms, the food and the service. Make it better!! Also, can you ask your staff not to constantly acost guests to purchase massages, and souvenirs and packages. I understand they want to make money, but jumping in front of people while they're walking just trying to get from point A to point B, or following them after they've already said no, is not a great way to sell stuff. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Thanks for the awful stay Punta Cana Princess.

Very disappointing. Hotel very much in need of renovation. WiFi and A/C both sporadic and not good enough. Many (not all) staff unfriendly and unhelpful. Alexander, the manager, tried to sort things but no compensation offered. Lovely massage at the spa but nowhere for my clothes to hang/go so they had to go on the floor! Music around the pool and in the main restaurant too repetitive and eventually annoying. Food choice in the main restaurant didn't really change despite the supposed different themed evening choices.
