Punta Cana Princess

Just because this hotel is adults only doesn't make it any better than their sister hotels next door..the Tropical/Caribe. In fact it's worse..the sister hotels are so much better in every respect and I'd urge everyone to at least try their facilities (The grounds and wildlife are stunning) as it's free to do so for PC guests...5 minutes walk along the beach or through the gardens from reception. But anyway...When you arrive, hot and bothered, the first thing that strikes you is that the reception/bar area plus the main buffet are open and not air conditioned. They're both built in the Dominican style, with high thatched roofs and ceiling fans. Even though not pleasant to begin with, you do acclimatise within a few days. Rooms at the PC. Mine was stunning on arrival, Overlooking the pool, on 2 levels, complimentary fruit basket, half bottle of rum, mini fridge stocked with soft drinks and water. It's just a shame nothing worked in the room! TV, coffee maker, phone and especially the air con were kaput. Why are they allocating rooms that are sub-standard, surely they must know! A lot of hassle to change room as I'd already unpacked..but anyway, 2nd room fine albeit smaller, everything worked, yay! Housekeeping (for my room) was awful..constantly forgetting to change towels or replenish the coffee bags/sugars/creamers etc, I was having to leave notes in Spanish for them almost daily. Strangely towards the end of the holiday, they became very good and left for instance, 5 coffee bags on one day..I wonder why 🤔. If you're a Brit and like tea, take a travel kettle and teabags! (Milk available at the breakfast buffets). I should also mention that both rooms i tried had huge double spa baths (as well as a shower)..certainly adds a touch of luxury! The grounds and pool are pristine and very well kept. Staff are great. Animation team are err very animated...if you want a quieter time head to the Tropical pool next door, where it's so much easier to get a sunbed. All the pools are huge, with plenty of room...probably the most crowded is that of the Caribe. A lot of people using inflatable lounger things in the pools as I did...take one! I found the main buffet food better generally than many other all inclusives I've stopped at, but breakfast did become samey and eggs and sausage dominated. Bacon (streaky American style) was only available once when I visited. I must however praise them for their freshly squeezed fruit juices...the one morning they had 8 different ones on!! They didn't tend to recycle food as some all inclusive do. Lunch was the best of the 3 buffet sessions. Beach area...suffers in comparison with the Tropical/Caribe. Huge problem with seaweed that they try and clear up/recycle..a never ending battle. This applies to this whole coast...Sea on this side very choppy with big waves..which can make it fun. Not worth bringing mask and snorkel, way too rough. The selection of bars not that good here. At night it was limited to the lobby bar and to the bar near the beach..head next door to the Tropical/Caribe. Free shuttle trolleys available if you don't want the 5/10 minutes walk. Free drinks selection very good, good measures. They're experts on Mojitos and Margueritas, more unusual cocktails they struggle with. Not pedantic at all with how many you have and they gladly fill a large insulated cup or flask at the pool and beach bars.Take a thermos mug or similar!! WiFi...free and good in the public areas. In the rooms, it depends where you are. Block 4 it's intermittent but it's really good in Block 3, which is the block right next to the main buffet restaurant. The PC Princess WiFi doesn't extend to the other 2 neighbouring sister hotels, you have to sign into their network, which is a pain and you have to go to their reception to enable it. This whole group needs to sort it out, why not put the 3 hotels on the same network! In retrospect, I should have booked in at the Tropical/Caribe (even though not adults only, the kids were fine) will try to do a separate review...These hotels are so much better, I can imagine their rooms are nicer too...but I think I'd avoid this coast altogether as it's windward Atlantic side with its big waves and seaweed...and look for somewhere sheltered and leeward. Even though I was hugely annoyed by the room situation, generously giving 4/5.

This was our second visit to this resort in 6 months. We loved it because it was small, staff were very friendly, caring and accommodating. We were in block 5, was a great location as we spent all our day at the beach. Our amazing maid Miquelina ensured our room was very clean, well stocked on towels, toiletries, coffee and bar fridge. Thank you so much for all your very hard work and dedication to your job. Felix who works at the beach and around the resort, ensures that everything is very clean, such a personable staff member that takes pride in his work. Frank and Fredrick were our bartenders at the beach who took care of our beverages through out the day. Great job guys! Israel at the buffet ensured our table was decorated and ready for us, which was such a nice surprise. Very much appreciated. All the staff at the a la carts are ensure that your dining experience was a great one, the food at the Steak House and Italian was delicious. A special thank you to Alexander at guest services he is a pleasure to talk to and also ensures your vacation is a special one. He is your go to for anything you might need.

Amazing place, great facilities & wonderful assortment of food. Celebrating a 21st while here & did it in style at the Fondue restaurant, staff organising a special night with cake & balloons. But what made it so special were the wonderful, friendly, helpful & energetic staff who made sure we were looked after, helped with a couple of medical issues & ensured we had a great time. Big special shout out to Alexander the Concierge and Smilie & Juli in Entertainment, Thanks so much 🙏

The hotel is beautiful, the rooms were comfortable, the food was great and there was always something to do. The beach and pool areas were stunning, and the whole atmosphere made it so easy to relax and enjoy our holiday. A special mention has to go to Alexander the concierge, who really made our experience extra special. His friendliness and energy never went unnoticed. He always went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time, and his positive attitude made such a difference to our stay. All of the staff were welcoming and hardworking, especially the guys in animation, and it was clear how much effort goes into making guests feel looked after.
