We have had a wonderful stay at Riu Palace Bavaro. We loved the excellent service at the adult swim up bar and the overal service in the restaurants.

Worst Hotel Experience Ever – RIU Palace Bavaro Punta Cana – Food Poisoning + Filthy Pool – Demanding Compensation I stayed at RIU Palace Bavaro Punta Cana from [Check-in Date] to [Check-out Date], Booking #: [Your Booking Number], and it was the worst vacation of my life. 1. Food Safety Violation - Spoiled Food: The buffet food was rotten, smelled awful, and tasted even worse. Multiple dishes were clearly spoiled and left out for hours. My family and I got severe food poisoning and stomach cramps for 2 days. This is a serious health code violation for a 5-star resort. 2. Filthy, Unsanitary Swimming Pool: The main pool was disgusting the entire week. The water was cloudy, greenish, with insects, leaves, hair, and debris floating in it. No cleaning or maintenance was done during our stay. It’s a major health hazard. We paid for a luxury resort and couldn’t even use the pool. 3. Complete Negligence by RIU Management: We complained to the front desk, guest services, and managers EVERY SINGLE DAY. Each time we were told “We will fix it immediately,” but NOTHING was ever done. We were completely ignored and treated with zero respect. RIU advertises a luxury 5-star experience, but what we received was less than 1-star. Our vacation was completely ruined and we feel scammed by RIU.

We usually go to the Bahia resorts, so we wanted to try a Riu this time. Everything was amazing. We had the main building top floor room with elevators, looking at the Iberostar hotel. The room was just perfect, always clean and new, never smelled the mold like we did at Bahia. Everything is big, yet so close. There is air conditioning in the Lobby and all restaurants except food court which had the ocean breeze, which was perfect for July ! I didn't go to the pools cause it was crowded but there was still plenty of chairs if you liked pools. Beach was cleaned daily, more than the sister properties so we did have alges but they cleaned well, so we enjoyed the beach everyday. There is plenty of chairs and we kept switching spots to get more shade, we never had issues finding chairs, even the first row! The food and drinks were better at Bahia overall, but the steakhouse was our favorite! There is no reservation required so we ate diner there everyday, never had an issue getting a spot. A huge plus was that they showcased the Fifa matches on the big theater screen, to our suprise it was always packed and great ambiance with people wearing jerseys and cheering for their country! There is always something to do the Riu Parties sounded so fun, but we were with our kid so we didn't try them. My kid loved the Waterpark, we tried it too was great! There is a basketball, tennis and soccer courts but it was way too hot to play. They was beach soccer and volleyball everyday on and off. Coffee is amazing and staff overall was lovely (except for a few but I won't single them out as they might have had a bad week). We also went for a nice walk on the beach path to the other sister properties Bambu and Riu Palace Punta Cana, was great to be able to see them, but we preferred Riu Palace Bavaro as it is newer, more air conditioning and cleaner beach, but we felt welcome wherever we went. Really amazing week and great accommodating staff!
