Riu Palace Bavaro

The service at two of the restaurants, the steak house and the American was terrible. My son received another meal than the one ordered at the steakhouse after 35 minutes waiting, our steaks were too well done and the waiter did not understand that my daughter was allergic to shellfish. For the American restaurant, if you can call it a restaurant, the wings and fries were cold with very little menu. Finally, to add to the insult they charged us 20$ usd for a lost key, mentioning that we signed it at check in. Even if it would be true, with 2 kids, how many times does people lose their room key everyday? That is simply insulting and poor judgement of the management. Never lived this at Bahia Principe.

The food was very good, especially the Asian; also enjoyed the Krystal and steakhouse. The buffet was ok but lacked basic things e.g. apple juice at breakfasts. Tended to have lunch b the main pool and dinner in the "A la carte restaurants. The swimming pools were nice but could have been cooler. The accommodation was very spacious and comfortable. The bars offered a good selection of drinks, some more than others. The activities were good but the entertainment was generally not good and tailored for Spanish speaking people. The music, by the pools was also tailored towards Spanish speaking people. Loved being so close to the beach but found the excessive amount of seaweed was very off putting. Lovely sandy beach with nice palm trees but a shame about the local traders constantly approaching people. The staff were generally helpful but had limited understanding of English, especially in reception. The excursions, with Rui weren't value for money, claiming they offer the best services but in reality, they were well below expectations, e.g. buggies breaking down, over crowded boats with poor equipment e.g. poor life vests. The huts by the beach offered better rates with good facilities. Ordered breakfast to my room but never arrived. Room was generally kept clean but sand was often left on the floor.

We’re a family of 6 with 4 kids , one with special needs. The “fun” started right from the beginning when they put us on the second floor room, without an elevator, knowing we have child in a wheelchair. Regardless of me sending them an email long before arrival, they told us that there’s nothing they can do. Most stuff doesn’t speak English at all. Kids club is non existent, we tried multiple times but it’s always closed. I would give them zero stars but food was good and some workers were nice.

Everything/Everyone was excellent except the cleaning staff for the room spoke with the Receptionist Raquel showed the picture of the room being half cleaned the sheets were dirty with juice stains no one came to change it each day it got worse so I stopped the cleaning service until the last day I had to leave. Other than that all the other staff great service would come again

Booked Reservations with Apple Vacations through GroupEase. We requested 6 rooms in same area. They were scattered all over this was an older group all steps. Went back and talked with customer service they tried to help best they could at least with elevator but still spread out.
