Riu Palace Macao

We had an amazing stay at Macao, staff very friendly and welcoming, hotel clean, some evening entertainment a little bit repetitive. Room very clean and attended daily. Mini bar in room well stocked. Karla, Danny and the rest of the Day Entertainment Staff are awesome and work hard to get everyone involved. The restaurants were good, but our favourite had to be Krystal’s, beef rib is utterly mouth watering. We will definitely be returning here again in the future. One of the best RIU Hotels we have stayed at.

location-- hotel is 4 star; not 5; on the atlantic side, we just came back- July tons of seaweed. Water was not blue, no one was in the ocean. Need to go on a tour to get to clear water, rooms- we stayed in 3rd floor, side ocean view. Room was fine but considering they post the hotel has been updated, feels worn. We had to get our room changed twice when we first got here because the first two had moldy smell and rust. Staff - people who work here are amazing and friendly. Hotel employees sre 5 star, hotel not so much. No Conceierge, Pools-3 pools, but one is the small swim up bar pool; which made the best drinks. Big pool is nice and we personally had no issues getting loungers in covered spaces. Pools were all way to warm. Not refreshing. - Atmosphere- the hotel grounds are beautiful, palms, pretty lights, lit pools, Open air lobby is updated, pretty statue. Disappointing the are no tropical birds, no water features with fish, like in other islands we have been to, - Rui entertainment- at night at the open air theatre there were some very good shows. Note, there is theme days; white party, etc. If you like that check Rui itinerary. - Food - so being this is an all inclusive at a modest price I think it was good. Krystal was by far the best; very upscale but outside so go late when its cooler. The buffet was hit or miss. Breakfast was always Amazing! Omelette making stations. - Trips - we only did the 2 hour Scuba Caribe snorkel for $50, it was well worth it. Boat left from in front of hotel. The staff super safe and professional. Snorkeling is amazing. - Water park - if you are over 40 would not recommend. I hurt my back on the water slide. Only 3 slides, no sitting, no tubes. Its not safe; do not go. For little kids and teens. - Spa - very nice spa, I did get a massage and was. fairly priced and good. Gym is in Spa and again very nice. Our first time ever in DR, Punta Cana. If we did it again we would not stay here snd gind a hotel on or near the caribbean side.

This is a lovely hotel in a fabulous setting. On arrival we were assigned a beautiful room on the 4th floor, unfortunately on day 3 we had to unexpectedly move due to an animal in the bathroom. We were given another room but had a 6 hour wait until it was ready. There were a number of minor issues with the second room. The food was excellent, there was a wide and varied choice at mealtimes. The restaurants were good. Also, all the staff in the bars, restaurants, etc work extremely hard and are so friendly and engaging. The only other issue we had was the noise from other guests returning to their rooms late at night. Some individuals were extremely loud. Overall, we had a great holiday despite some issues.

We chose this Hotel RIU Palace Macao to go back to for the 4th time, this time for our Honeymoon in May with a couple of friends. Having stayed here before we love the different pools, the fact it is directly on the beach and the many food restaurant choices. We were a little disappointed with our room at first as we had let the Hotel know we were on our Honeymoon, the room wasn't great with just a view of a roof. However the Bell boy, when he realised why we were upset soon sorted this out with reception and a lovely room with a nice view was found which made all the difference. Our friends arranged for us to have the room filled with rose petals and towel swans with a maid who was a good laugh whilst doing it and made it special. We had arranged for our friend’s birthday for the same but with balloons - same funny maid, a great touch! The Hotel has been upgraded since we last visited and we really liked the majority of the changes and new decor. Loved the Italian, Steakhouse and Asian. However, The Krystal our favourite outdoor restaurant wasn't open at lunch this time. I think RIU are missing a trick as it has the most glorious view of the sea in the day for a lunchtime meal which we missed. The new Cuban bar with air con is lovely as is Adonis the happiest waiter who made things fun! The Coral pool bar is great for a nice bit of shade - great staff with special mentions to smiley Jose and around the pool bar girl , Juana. Sunrise on this piece of beach is spectacular and worth getting up early for. It can get noisy in the swim up pool by late afternoon, it is people having fun, but the music doesn't have to be blaring so loudly as some people at the quieter pools would like to relax. Good trips are the Buggies (Take old clothes, you are going to get muddy!- and beware of a bar called Nazarro some companies use before visiting the Cenote for food and drink- they may try and scam you around payment- take your own drink and snacks to avoid this ! ) Scuba Caribe at the Hotel do a nice 3 hour snorkelling trip which is good straight from the beach. We really have a soft spot for the Dominican and this Hotel , we have met lovely people here over the years and there are a lot of the same staff which is nice to see. We will definitely return again in the future and our friends, for which this was their first time in Dominican and at this Hotel thought it was amazing and would also like to return. RIU Macao resort exceeded our expectations! Extremely friendly staff, resort was clean and beautiful. Food was Very good-even the buffet had something for everyone.
