Riu Republica

The best decision we made was staying here at RIU Republica. The staff were so welcoming and very knowledgeable of everything. All our excursions could be booked at the hotel at discounted rates. The location is central and all tours offer pick up at the hotel which was very convenient and safe. They are so organized and dealt with crowd control so effortlessly especially with the famous Riu party which is a must do. The only issue was some parts of the property need better cleaning like around the main areas especially the elevators that had a very foul smell which made it unpleasant to use. The property has something for every one including the food dining areas to the entertainment.

I was a little nervous after reading the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! This resort was wonderful. We took advantage of the specialty restaurants and the food was amazing. Our room was cleaned every day, brought us more water at 10 PM. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back. Book it! You will not be disappointed.

What a great time! This was our eighth visit to this resort. We keep coming back because we relax and try out different pools. Mostly, it's the employees. They are wonderful.

I love the Riu resorts but this had to be less then satisfactory in comparison to other Riu locations. Beach wasn't very clean, food was very bland and dry most meal times. Room was upgraded but very poorly maintained, usb outlets didn't work, mold and rust stains on mirrors and in showers. Repeatedly had to request same housekeeping and maintenance things, as the app would say they were done but never got done. The "free" shuttle to the blue mall is actually a drive to a souvenir shop that if you leave to go to the actual blue mall they refuse to return you to the hotel, regardless if you shop with them or not. A lot of scamming going on with taxis and the free rides. Resort is far from downtown. Uber was overpriced to leave resort, but thankfully, dirt cheap to return to resort (found out after we were abandoned at the souvenir shop).

Enjoyed my stay at Riu Republica. Room was spotless as was entire resort. Service was great. Food delicious. Beach had white sand, no seaweed. Pools are salt water instead of chlorine which is wonderful. Several pools to enjoy. Will go back again.
