Royalton Splash Punta Cana Resort & Spa

Best resort! This is our 5th time back! Entertainment staff was amazing Jose was a legend! Rodolfo is hands down the best bartender , and worker on the whole resort. Nobody can make a drink like him ! Service was top notch all around! Highly recommend this place!

Despite buying the Diamond package, their tiered membership people have first priority on everything making booking preferred restaurants frustrating. The select beach area view is blocked by rentable huts making it better to move to non diamond areas if you like a view of the ocean We booked the tired 3-4 star splash side to have direct access to the water park but found 80% of the rides required > 1.2m height. Book the Punta Cana side if you want better rooms. Still have access to the park Overall, I would go back to other places we stayed at in Punta Cana

We stayed here in April from the UK for 10 nights and we were very apprehensive prior to arriving due to the negative reviews. However, we had an amazing holiday and I wanted to write this to help others who might worry like we did. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t perfect, but it was still a resort we would return to. I would like to mention Ruth, who was a greeter at the buffet restaurant. She was lovely and always complimented our 12 and 15 year old. They described her as “the loveliest human alive.” We didn’t do diamond club as we couldn’t really see the benefit or how it was worth the money. There isn’t much more that dc can access for the cost of it. We managed perfectly fine without it. We took American dollars as these are accepted everywhere and have smaller notes which were good for tipping. We were advised to tip before service, however, we found this to be strange as usually we would tip after service dependent on the service. Tipping didn’t often make a difference to the service we received. The walk to the Royalton Punta Cana was a lovely little walk. Maximum 10 minutes at most. Along the walk, you walk down a lovely stretch of path with lots of animals including birds and iguanas. These were amazing to see just wandering around. The walk was mostly shaded and easy to do in the heat. Much quicker and easier to walk, if able to, than waiting for the shuttle bus. Rooms In our family, there were 2 adults and 2 children, 12 and 15. We had a luxury double room and we were on the ground floor. We had two queen sized beds in our room. The room was big enough for the four of us and plenty of drawer/wardrobe space. The bathroom was a little bit run down and needed repainting but didn’t have any effect on our holiday at all. The cleaning of the rooms were hit and miss. Some days didn’t get fresh towels or drinks restocked. The terrace was lovely as we often had lizards just relaxing on the wall. Food The buffet has a wide variety of food. They always have the staples such as chips, pizza and a pasta station. Always fish and meat dishes. The buffet does repeat but I feel that’s just what all inclusive is so didn’t personally bother us. Food quality was really good and no one in our family became unwell or sick from the food. The one negative we have for the buffet was the service to get drinks. It’s the first all inclusive we’ve stayed at where drinks are ordered. This was really hit and miss. Some days we would have finished our meal before we even ordered a drink. When it’s 30 degrees, this isn’t ideal. In terms of the à la carte restaurants, we found this bizarre as the only available times to book the restaurants on the app were 20:15, 21:00 or 21:45pm. We booked the two Italians and the Mexican. Whenever we walked past on an evening or went to the restaurants, they were only ever half full, so I can’t quite understand why they don’t have more availability. Pools and waterpark Pools were good, little bit rundown as quite a lot of tiles were missing. The activities pool was always really busy and wasn’t often sunbeds available which suited us as we prefer the quieter pool. But if you’re a family who would like to be at the activities pool, you’d probably have to get up earlier to get sunbeds. At the quieter pool, there were always sunbeds available. The waterpark was good, however the majority of slides were really rough and hurt as you came down them. These definitely need a bit more tlc. On site shop The on site shop is ridiculously expensive. A sharing bag of crisps was $10. Overpack suncream. Take way more than you think you’ll need as you’ll use it with the intensity of the sun and also a small suncream is about $40 in the shop. We went with TUI and we arranged with them to visit a bigger shop with cheaper prices. Overall, we said if we ever travelled to the Dominican Republic again, then it’s a resort we would definitely return to.
