AluaSun Lago Rojo

The room was okay- nothing special, which I don’t mind, but the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. It was like laying on a flat stone, the pillows weren’t even proper pillows, they were cushions which werent particularly comfortable. The floors weren’t overly clean and the bathroom floor I could see stains and footprints, where they clearly hadn’t mopped the floor beforehand. Now the worst part- The FOOD …I had chicken that wasn’t cooked properly and resulted in me being very poorly. There was no hygiene what so ever- the kitchen staff/servers were wiping their foreheads with their gloves on and not changing their gloves for fresh ones. Lastly, we were meant to stay here for 6 nights.. we ended up coming home 3 days early… Which we have never had to do before. I would not recommend this hotel whatsoever.

Just got back from a wonderful week at the AluaSun Lago Rojo. We have stayed at Alua hotels before and have been impressed and this one didn't disappoint. We were allocated a room on the first floor at the front which actually turned out to be OK as was a nice place to sit in the evening. Room was spacious and despite looking a bit worse for wear in places was more than adequate. Only slight gripe was that the tea coffee in the room never seemed to be replenished. Hotel was kept spotlessly clean ( including the room). Dining room primarily catered for the majority of Dutch guests, but we always found plenty to choose from ( they had proper baked beans at breakfast and the ommlettes were to die for!). Loved the roof top pool and bar/hot tub, although the hot tub needs fixing, half the buttons dont work and the one that did was intermittent, as was the supposed water temperature ! Would be good if roof top bar stayed open later than it did, although this could be down to health and safety? Never struggled to get sunbeds although the usual issue of people reserving them and then not using them for half the day did go on ( as it does in most hotels these days). Entertainment every night (usual stuff, dancers and singers) some really good, some less so!. Location is brilliant with loads of shops/restaurants/bars nearby and also a stones throw from the beach, which is easily accessed by the side gate. The real winner that sets this place apart are the staff, from the bar staff to waiters, the chefs to the cleaners to reception staff, everyone was clearly really busy but always has a smile on their face and were so helpful and freindly. The guy in the Agua bar was remembering our drink choices by the third night. They are all an absolute credit to the company. Thank you AluaSun Lago for a wonderful holiday, we will definitely be back one day!

A friendly, clean hotel. Food was amazing with a fresh meat and fish station cooking in front of you at every dinner service. There was plenty of choice. The staff in the hotel were very polite and attentive to all needs.

We were due to arrive at this hotel November for a 14 day holiday but unfortunately tour operator notified hotel is full due to overbooking with less than four weeks to go given another hotel in a completely different location we no the area very well we can change hotel to our choice and expense but at very inflated prices Be warned we’re not the first to be cancelled

As my husband and I get ready to travel home to East yorkshire united Kingdom I wanted to take some time to reflect on our stay st this gem of a hotel. We have stayed in 5 star hotels in the UK and Europe and they haven't felt as welcoming as our stay here. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff, the rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard and the breakfast and evening meal were delicious. My husband is a chef and could tell the preparation that had gone into the food. This was an absolute gem of a hotel and holiday We can't wait to return.
