H10 Estepona Palace

Wife and I just back from a fantastic week at this hotel. Staff are so friendly. Views from the hotel are stunning. So much space within the social areas. On the outskirts of Estapona but there is a seaside promenade which allows a traffic free walk to the marina and the Old Town. If you don’t fancy the walk it’s a €1.20 bus ride from the hotel. A classy chilled out part of the Costa del Sol to visit and would happily stay at this hotel again.

Ok here we are group of 7 friends in the middle of their annual trip abroad. Been to many places but this is absolutely the best we have been to, and we have been to a few really nice ones. This hotel delivers on everything - food - first class Cleanliness - first class - the staff without exception are wonderful. If there’s any negative reviews on here they must be made up. We are definitely making this our go to place now !!!

We stayed for a long weekend here and it was very pleasant. Quite a walk into Estepona but stopped at the marina along the way. We stayed Half Board and breakfast and dinner buffet were both good. Drinks at the Mediterraneo bar were lovely as the view out to the ocean with Gibraltar in the distance was stunning. Helpful reception and they pointed us in the right direction to catch the bus to Puerto La Duquesa for 2 euros which was about 20 mins away. Worth a visit as we a Jesus see this on A Place in the sun TV programme! The hotel currently has building work going on next door but to be expected out of season. Room was OK - little dated but perfectly fine EXCEPT the bed ! I have never slept on a mattress so firm. Reception arranged a mattress topper but didn’t help.

Just back from a wonderful week at H10 Estepona on a half board basis. Lovely room with balcony looking toward Gibraltar. Sunshine all week. Ever cheerful and friendly house keeping staff kept our room fresh and clean every day. Only downside was that the hotel does not provide coffee sachets in rooms or throughout. Don’t know why. Well located west of Estepona with a lovely promenade walk into town. Takes about half an hour. Taxis readily available otherwise. Estepona is charming, especially old town. Flower tubs everywhere. Recommend a visit to the Orchidarium (€5 entry) and to the large market on Sundays in the port area. Occasional markets seem to pop up all week here and there. On the walk to and from the hotel there are plenty of places to stop for coffee, tapas or drinks. Best Sangria in Estepona at Lolailo beach restaurant especially on way back. Hotel coach excursion to Gibraltar well worth doing. Car hire arranged by H10 was convenient and reasonably priced - off to Ronda along well connected road network. Nearest supermarket is in Estepona port other than essentials from the nearby Shell garage on main road; very handy too for topping up rental car tank at end of use. Pool too cold for us at this time of year but some children seemed happy enough splashing about. Plenty of sun beds with no one ‘towel booking’. Breakfasts (and desserts) the best part of the restaurant. Special mention to lady who makes the tortillas. Delicious. Do agree with reviews that say that food often not hot enough. Could do with some investment in better warming equipment. Quality and variety of food itself good, especially if you like sea food. Restaurant does lack atmosphere; all brightly lit and no background music but friendly staff who work very hard. Not a hotel (at this time of year anyway) if you want good entertainment. Suited us to soak up the sun till yon time and go for a stroll along the promenade. Would certainly stay at H10 again and very happy to recommend the place.

Estapona palace in my opinion is not the same standard as other luxe collection hotels we have stayed at. Firstly I must say that the staff we encountered are all wonderful and would be a credit to any hotel, however the food is very disappointing, very repetitive and usually cold. The restaurant is chaotic and needs someone to take overall charge of the service. Shortages like no bowls, no items of cutlery, no milk jugs, some tables set with full complement of cutlery others not, I feel these issues could be remedied by someone overseeing the serving staff and directing operations. It would have been nice if the outside bar areas had been illuminated during the evening with maybe some background music so guests could go outside with a drink as an alternative to being inside in the lounge bar and listening to the evening entertainment which with one exception was pretty poor. The grounds of the hotel are well set out with plenty of sun loungers available throughout the day. The location is good with plenty of buses and taxis available to take you to the marina or on to estapona and back through out the day. We enquired about the Aircon in our room as it was hot during the whole of our stay but we were told it is only switched on in may which was unfortunate. I just feel that with a few changes, it could have been a much better experience.
