MS Amaragua

My wife and I stayed at The Hotel MS Amaragua from the 15th to the 22nd of September. If I went into every little detail of how good this hotel is, this review would be pages long, so here is the abridged version! Upon arrival, we were met by a friendly and professional young gentleman who immediately took our luggage and escorted us inside. The lobby is beautiful—the decor and layout are excellent, and I was immediately struck by how clean and fresh it smelled. We arrived early and our room wasn’t ready but we were soon checked in. We safely stored our luggage in the holding room and headed down to the pool bar for a drink while our room was finalized. Once it was ready, the same gentleman kindly brought our bags up for us. We stayed on the fifth floor in a Superior Sea View Room, and it was worth every penny. The room was spacious with plenty of storage and featured a good-sized balcony. The sea views were beautiful, especially watching the sunrise. I know some reviews mention that the furniture is a bit outdated, but we found it completely in keeping with the traditional style of the hotel. It has a classic look rather than a shabby one, and everything was robust and fully functional. All areas of the hotel are exceptionally well-maintained. The pool, pool bar, and surrounding grounds are kept spotlessly clean. The only minor downside was the classic issue of guests leaving towels on sunbeds and disappearing for hours, which occasionally made it tricky to find a spot. We only opted for breakfast during our stay, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The dining room is lovely, and if you get a table next to the window, you get a beautiful view of the beach. The food was always high quality with a good variety of choices. Every single staff member we encountered was professional and incredibly helpful. I must give a special mention to the wonderful housekeeping team, who were incredibly patient and didn't laugh at my pitiful attempts to speak Spanish! The location is unbeatable. You can access the La Carihuela seafront promenade directly from the hotel grounds. If you turn left, you head towards Torremolinos; turn right, and you are on your way to Benalmádena. Both are an easy, scenic walk along a promenade packed with beach bars, shops, and restaurants. La Carihuela itself is a lovely area with a great, friendly atmosphere and a wonderful mix of nationalities. We are already planning our return to La Carihuela in the near future, and I honestly cannot imagine staying anywhere else than The Hotel MS Amaragua.

The positives - the hotel is beautiful and spotless. Easy access to the beach spoilt for choice of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Staff are lovely and a wide selection of food to choose from some made fresh to order along side the buffet. I had a promotional room so there was no view at all other than the side of another building and overlooking a flat roof however, the sea view rooms will be lovely and will get the sun on the balcony for the majority of the day as they directly face the sea. Of that, sitting in the window of the restaurant for breakfast was a lovely view watching the sun rise. There is a Spa and Gym. I hadn’t taken any suitable clothing for the gym but the equipment looked to be in excellent condition and a good variety of machines. The spa has a jacuzzi and a heated pool where you can add some waves to it with a sauna and steam room. Only issue for us was that the sauna / steam rooms are in the changing rooms so men and women are separated… I would rather have gone in with my husband so we could chat but that’s just our preference All in all the hotel is lovely and would definitely go back there. The cons - the WiFi is very weak. For most people that won’t be an issue but if anyone goes with kids wanting to stream anything then i recommend buying a suitable SIM card because the hotel wifi just about managed WhatsApp and emails. The beds are very hard. The pillows very flat. I ended up using a folded up blanket to support my head better and had some back problems every morning due to the hard mattress. This might not be an issue for everyone but worth mentioning. The entertainment doesn’t start till 10pm and we only attended the flamenco “show”. We left very quickly after it started as it wasn’t much to our taste.

I have stayed at this hotel before but did not use it much as this time I spent a lot of time in it as I was with my mum. We booked a junior suite and a Deluxe room sea facing the rooms are dated but very clean, bed was comfy but pancake pillars that was my only critique but the rest was spot on 100% breakfast was great egg station - cereal - anything you could ask for. Also immaculate - Evening meal also great, fish every night fresh prawns and crab, vast salad bar, meat - cheese station with fresh local meats - deserts - Amazing!!! The staff are amazing Belinder and Marina who greet you and take you to the table - the waiters Angel, Jose and especially Oliver who serenaded us with Beatles songs loved it. Bar staff also great Justo Fernandez and I think it's Alvor who sorts the Bali beds out. MS you have amazing staff who work so hard with a smile. Back to hotel - entertainment every night - Rock and roll brothers were great. Football on if that's your thing - plenty of beds round the pool and a beach but beds are chargeable down the beach. For the money we paid it was a bargain for what you got - The deluxe room was a bit on the small side but everything else drowns that out - Toiletries provided - pool towels provided - Spa in hotel to use also - safe - hair dryer - balcony with chair and table - gate to promenade at the back to access beach and shops. I would 100% recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, food and staff. Thank you MS for looking after me my friend and our 2 elderly mums.

Myself & my husband stayed here in September, on entering the hotel we were greeted by the lovely receptionist who were very knowledgeable & explanatory about the hotel Our room was small but plenty big enough for the both of us, it was very clean & the bathroom was as well, I do have to say the shower was amazing, the beds over the 10days we were there were quite hard so we both ended up with a stiff back, maids did a good job of cleaning our room The breakfast in the restaurant was fabulous, plenty of choice so defo no complaints there, the evening dinner however was extremely fishy, if like me you don’t eat fish then maybe go bed & breakfast, I did manage to find something each night but choice was limited, I have a disability so can’t walk out to local town to dine… The hotel is right on the sea front which is fantastic, the pool area is also great if you queue up to get a bed for when the doors to access the pool area open, it does state NO saving beds however few people didn’t quite understand that !!! You access the beach by going down a few steps to a gate where you let yourself out with a key card, unfortunately there is no handrail which is needed in my opinion Overall though I have to say we both really enjoyed our stay and we will return to what is o lovely hotel

We really love this hotel and have stayed many times, the location is excellent, and overall excellent hotel.
