Riu Palace Nautilus

I have stayed at this hotel several times, and was interested to see how it would be after the recent renovations. Certainly some things are better, the decoration, particularly in the lobby is beautiful. The restaurant is more spacious and bright and contemporary. Bedrooms are nicely decorated, with excellent showers. There are a lot more sunbeds (although people still get up early to reserve them!). The not so good - - The buffet area in the dining area is badly laid out, there's just not enough space for all the people going back and forward to the different areas. It was much better before. Food is not so good, although the quality of the roast meat of the day is very good. - The pool bar used to be a convivial spot, it was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink or food, watching the staff working and chatting at the bar. It's now not a bar at all, it's just a service hatch in the wall. I've never seen anything quite like it in any hotel, and it's not nice at all. I cannot imagine what it must be like for the staff working in the heat of summer in what appears to be a windowless cupboard. This should be changed, looking at the design of the bar it would be possible. However the thing that keeps me returning to the hotel is the staff. They are friendly, professional and helpful. I'd particularly like to mention Javier on reception, who has helped me on many occasions and always greets us with a smile. And Fernando in the bar. I work in travel and visit many hotels all over the world. Not only is Fernando the most professional and competent barman I have come across, he remembers guests and welcomes them back to hotel like they are old friends. Truly impressive, an asset to the hotel. I'm looking forward already to my next visit.

Great first impression of hotel as you walk into lobby/reception. Excellent decor and lots of spaces to relax in comfy chairs . Excellent service for checking in . Offered a drink then luggage was taken to our room . Good sized room well decorated and good layout. Lovely side view of swimming pool etc from the balcony. AC and ceiling fan , iron and ironing board in wardrobe , good hanging space, free use of safe and refrigerator and good WIFI connection. Meals at both breakfast and Dinner were very good with lots of choices to suit international tastes. All staff were excellent and very helpful. Special thanks to Xavier our waiter in the dining room. Tea and coffee served to your table at breakfast saved long queues at machines! However you can top up teapots etc and there is a coffee machine if you fancy a cappuccino etc. never had a problem getting a sunbed especially on the sun terrace above the pool. Only spotted a couple of people out at about 7am reserving a bed by the pool. Gate leads straight onto the promenade from the pool area accessed by using your room key . Nice area close to Benalmedena Marina . If you plan to use buses buy a card at the local tobacco shop for €1.50 and then top it up as you need it . We put €10 on and that covered both of us for journeys to Malaga, Mijas and Torremolinos centre (And return ) we still have a small credit which never expires! By far the cheapest way to travel. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and would certainly return Doreen and Dave Northumberland

Just back from a lovely hot weekend at Riu Palace. First time here as our usual hotel was fully booked but it did not disappoint at-all! Beautiful hotel, rooms were gorgeous, fan above bed was a perfect addition to the air con and we slept so well - shower was also outstanding - the balcony was fine and spacious - we didn’t really use it much as only away for a weekend so we were out and about most of the time. Food was superb and we visited the Krystal restaurant in the hotel once - if you can get booked in - it’s definitely worth it - it was so nice. The pool was lovely and there were plenty of beds - it gets pretty full by lunchtime but no issues - towels provided with a card - we brought our own little blow up headrest cushions that keep your towel in place also as the sunbeds are never that comfy on your neck - glad we did as it’s the same everywhere. Waiter service around the pool is perfect. It’s a very laid back vibe during the day with a slightly older crowd which was fine. The staff are absolutely outstanding - every one of them were super friendly and helpful - a credit to the hotel. Entertainment at night was the usual cabaret style which suited the audience perfectly - not massively our style but that’s fine :) No complaints at-all - thank you for a lovely stay.

This was our first time staying at this hotel, although not our first time in torremolinos. My parents booked for 2 weeks so me and my partner decided to surprise them for their 2nd week as it was mum's birthday. As soon as we stepped into the hotel, staff greeted us with hello, and the reception staff were brilliant especially Javier who sorted our room. We were offered a glass of fizz on arrival which was very much needed after a warm bus ride from the airport. Our room was fab, very modern, sea views and huge queen sized bed. Food was amazing, so much choice for both breakfast and dinner, our waiter was also called Javier and nothing was too much trouble for him..pool area was lovely too, plenty of beds and shade if needed. Hotel straight onto the promenade and only a 10 min walk to the beautiful Marina, torremolinos old town is also around 30 walk but local buses and taxi available. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again.

We loved this place. One thing, when reception told us we were in the annexe I was not happy. I pictured an old building out the back somewhere. Nothing of the sort, it was a lovely modern building joined alongside the hotel. The room felt new, big, with a lovely bathroom. I would suggest the hotel rename it to East/West wing or something less negative. This hotel was spotless, so clean. Every single staff member we interacted with was lovely. The pool was quiet, some people did put towels down but no need at all. Plenty of sunbeds available. The food was fabulous too with lots of variety. I will definitely come back to this hotel.
