Well… where do I even begin? What should have been a lovely birthday turned into one of the most disappointing holidays I’ve ever had. I’m actually still here as I write this, and frankly, I’m dreading the journey home. Let’s start with the Alua Sol Carolina. The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms are clean, and the housekeeping staff work incredibly hard. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives largely end. The welcome — absolutely appalling On arrival, I was dealing with a member of reception called Mari, and the customer service was quite honestly disgraceful. I had booked three rooms — one for a couple and two single-occupancy rooms. I had all the booking references and documentation with me and showed everything to her. While she was showing me something on the computer, I put my finger on the screen to turn it towards me because I couldn’t see what she was trying to show me. She immediately started shouting at me and behaving as though I had been aggressive towards her. I hadn’t. She eventually realised she had completely misjudged the situation and did apologise, but only after an unnecessarily long and incredibly uncomfortable exchange. Another customer actually asked whether there was someone else who could check them in because of the delay. The tutting, eye-rolling and attitude were utterly unacceptable. That is not how you greet paying guests. The food — quite possibly the worst part The all-inclusive food was absolutely substandard. It may look as though there is plenty of choice, but appearances are deceiving. Breakfast was ok, I only ate it once but the lunch and evening meals were awful. Much of it was fish-heavy, and unfortunately the fish itself was often tasteless and unappealing. The meat was even worse. Almost every piece I tried was cheap, chewy and full of gristle, to the point where it was genuinely inedible. The “butter” wasn’t proper butter either — it appeared to be margarine sitting in water and tasted greasy. The soup seemed to consist of vegetables that had already appeared elsewhere on previous days. The ice cream was practically liquid. There were very few decent chicken options. Two members of our party don't eat red meat or fish, and they were left with virtually nothing suitable to eat. My 22-year-old daughter ended up essentially living on chips — and even chips weren't available every day. I ended up eating bread and salad. After three days, we simply stopped eating in the restaurant because we couldn't face it anymore. For an all-inclusive holiday, that is frankly ridiculous. The spa. Lovely and calming. Please remember to ask 30 minutes before using sauna or steam as it takes a while to heat up. However the sign says it’s open until 2200 and reception disagreed. It’s until 2000 so I’d planned a relaxing evening and it was a no…. The rooms The rooms themselves are lovely and very clean, and the housekeeping staff deserve credit for keeping them that way. However, despite the excellent cleaning, basic items were repeatedly missing — glasses, milk, tea, coffee, sugar and sweetener. It shouldn't be necessary to keep asking for the basics in a hotel room. I was fortunate enough to have a sea-view room, and I have to say the view was absolutely stunning. It's probably the highlight of the entire stay. Entertainment The entertainment staff themselves were friendly and worked hard, and the bar staff — both downstairs by the pool and upstairs in the foyer — were also great. Unfortunately, the actual entertainment was another matter. I watched the Queen tribute and, frankly, it was laughable. I genuinely couldn't believe it was being presented as an evening's entertainment. Location Be warned about the location if you're expecting somewhere with a bit of life outside the hotel. There is very little around the hotel. No real selection of local bars, very few restaurants and only a couple of small cafés and one restaurant nearby, which aren't exactly cheap. There is a small ‘supermarket’ across the road which is sparsely stocked. You need to get the bus into the nearest town if you want any better choice. So if you want to leave the hotel and have a wander around somewhere with plenty going on, this is probably not the place for you. One shining exception — Paco I do want to give credit where it's genuinely deserved. One evening I needed some salt because, by that point, I was reduced to eating cup-a-soups because I couldn't face the restaurant food. I went downstairs and spoke to Paco, the night receptionist. What an absolute diamond of a man. He was kind, helpful, friendly and genuinely went out of his way to help me. Paco is the real star of the Alua Sol Carolina and should be treasured. Thank you, Paco, for showing some genuine kindness when I really needed it. And then there's Jet2… Unfortunately, the disappointment didn't end with the hotel. I travelled with Jet2, and their customer service has been equally frustrating. My flight seats were changed three times, and we're travelling with a new airline that I found extremely cramped and uncomfortable. As a disabled person who books seats early, this was not only an inconvenience but genuinely painful being put in uncomfortable seats. I’ve travelled with jet2 at least twice a year for a long time and my parents even more. After this experience, we have all already agreed that this will be the last time we travel with Jet2. Overall verdict I've spent a large part of the holiday struggling to find food I could actually eat, dealing with unacceptable customer service and feeling completely cut off from anywhere with any atmosphere. Yes, the hotel is attractive. Yes, the rooms are clean. Yes, there are some genuinely lovely members of staff. But a pretty hotel and a nice sea view don't compensate for poor food, poor service, limited surroundings and an all-inclusive experience where you can't actually rely on being able to eat the food. Would I recommend the Alua Sol Carolina? Absolutely not. Unless your idea of a great holiday is being stuck in a fairly isolated location, eating endless fish, gristle, bread and salad, I would seriously think twice before booking this place. For me, it was a very disappointing holiday — and a particularly disappointing birthday. Rather than looking forward to my next visit, I'm counting down until I can go home. Alua Sol Carolina — management, I would genuinely like a response to this review. How is it acceptable for an all-inclusive hotel to provide food of this standard, leave guests with so few alternatives, and have staff treat customers in the way I experienced? Potential guests: please read the reviews carefully before booking. I certainly wish I had.

This is our 3rd year running holidaying in beautiful Mallorca, each time at a different part of the island and the first staying at Aluasoul Carolina. Everything about this hotel is outstanding! The location is absolutely spot on and the view from our 9th floor room is stunning. We can see across the sea to Rajada and the lighthouse, the small and friendly local beach area only a hop away and although it is tucked away you have everything at hand should you wish to venture further out. There is a Spar shop opposite the hotel alongside a car hire company which is family run and they're not only lovely they have spotless new cars at bargain prices. We hired a 2025 Ford Puma for 4 days at €341 no deposit and fast to process, super impressed! There is a steak restaurant a few minutes along the road which we didn't visit but other holiday makers said they served first class food, although a little pricey. I guess it depends on your budget. There is then a bus stop and mini train stop. The bus takes you pretty much anywhere you need and the mini train takes you up to cala agulla beach and loops back around pretty much all day except siesta time. You can hop on and off as much as you like for €7 an adult and they run early until late. A fun cheap way to explore sights and do some beach hopping and souvenir shopping. We booked all inclusive my favourite club at Aluasoul Carolina with a superior double room with sea view. The bed is huge and comfy, the shower is also huge, massive shower head, fantastic water pressure, smart flatscreen tv, tea/coffee machine and a fridge with constant refills of bottled fresh apple/orange, still and sparkling water, Coco cola, fanta lemon, beer and a complimentary bottle of bubbles on arrival. The bedding amd towels can be changed as much as you like, you have the use of hotel beach towels, slippers and a bath robe and toiletries are provided. The meals are out of this world as are the endless options for each meal with something to suit every pallet and dietary requirement possible. In between meal times there are many snack options available at various places inside and outside the hotel (poolside) plus of course every drink you can think of or possibly want. Top quality food, top quality service 👌 The pool is beautiful, the sunbeds are plentiful and there are daybeds to hire should you wish. You can even win the use of one for a day if you get lucky at bingo! The hotel has a gym and inside swimming pool too, my husband and I sadly forgot to go the gym 12 days running 🤣 maybe next year. The entertainment team are fabulous and go above and beyond! They are worth their weight in gold as they are great at getting everyone involved and clearly love what they do. Massive shout out to you guys! We will miss you and the laughs you provide... especially at Bingo... meeow😺 uno! You can join in aqua zumba/gymnastics/yoga, making sangria poolside, bingo on the terrace (this is a must!) you can play darts, dance at the nightclub, play pool and of course enjoy, join in and dance along with the evening entertainment that is put on for everyone each night after dinner and is amazing! From Spanish dancers to tribute bands, all very talented and a treat to watch. You can also book excursions at the hotel reception area or a cheeky massage on site, which I did today and it was perfect! Highly recommend! The staff here are all very polite, most are multi lingual and they always aim to please. This is by far the BEST and our favourite hotel on the island so far and we will definitely be returning. Thank you to you all for making our holiday a perfect one with fabulous memories 🫶

We stayed here as a couple of friends for a short 3 night break away. The hotel itself was very clean and the service was good with friendly staff. We paid for a sea view room and the view was stunning over the beach, sea and mountains. We found the beds super comfy and both slept amazingly well. I’m not sure if they were memory foam as woke up feeling cocooned in the mattress. We went end of August and it seemed quiet - always a sunbed available whatever time you went to the pool and there was no 7am wake up to reserve a sunlounger. We went to the beach and had a swim in the sea each day. It’s literally a few steps down and you are on the beach. There doesn’t seem anywhere to walk out to but that didn’t bother us as we knew this and intended on staying in the hotel. The food was ok and I would say standard all inclusive. The pool seemed quite small for the number of people but you could always go in for a dip. There was a strange situation with a token and the pool bar. You needed a token (which was given when we checked in) to get a drink at the pool bar. You then had to return your cup in order to get another drink in exchange. The soft drinks were self service from a dispenser but you still had to queue to get a cup in the first place and then couldn’t have a soft drink and an alcoholic drink at the same time. The pool bar shuts at 6pm which we thought was quite early and if you don’t take your cup back you won’t get a token to use the next day! Being adults only I’m not sure this was completely necessary but I can see they did it to keep the pool area clean and tidy as people couldn’t leave cups everywhere. The other thing to note (we might have been unlucky with the drop offs) but on the coach transfer we were the last drop off and it was a 2.5 hour transfer.
