Caprice Vell Mari Hotel & Resort

From the moment we arrived. We received a warm welcome from Dennis. To resort has everything you could want. Great clean pool. Bar just next to it. Rooms are full air conditioned. Great night entertainment.

We have had a really relaxing family holiday and we have really enjoyed the time at the hotel. The hotel had lovely qualities however there were a few things that could have been improved to make it better. We booked this as very last minute holiday with less than 2 weeks to go before. The pictures of the hotel looked great and it showed a splash pool with slides for the kids. The flights were great got picked up and arrived at the hotel. It was a long journey but it wasn’t too bad in all honesty. We got checked in very quickly, pleasant reception staff. Annoying that you have to pay for your pool towels. At other 4 star hotels you would get given these included, and if you want to change them you have to pay which seems a bit mad. If you don’t want to pay bring your own beach towels. We arrived at the room and the room was very clean and modern. The children’s beds weren’t out and we had to ring reception to find out we had to sort them ourselves and get bedding out of the cupboard, I would of thought these would of been made up prior to our arrival. The room was kept clean on a daily basis however I did have an issue with ants in my room not a huge issue and it didn’t bother me too much. Pool area was always kept very clean and the grounds of the hotel are spotless and the gardens are lovely. It’s a lovely stunning hotel. We didn’t have a problem getting a sunbed in the morning and there are no sun bed wars if you know what I mean. If you arrive at lunch time hoping for a bed you won’t get one and will have to resort to sitting on the chairs but that isn’t too bad. The kids splash pool was closed which was very disappointing. And especially not to be told about this on arrival is not good. However the children were happy with the pool so it turned out ok in the end. Staff were always very pleasant, and attentive if you needed them. Food and Drinks - All meal times were of good quality, there was enough to choose from, some of the food isn’t always labelled so you’ve just got to guess what you are eating most of the time but the food was good always a good choice. The restaurant staff were great they were very smiley and interactive and attentive. The drinks at the bar were ok.. most were ok but the cocktails were just blended in a machine and they weren’t the best to be honest and you only got about 3 options and then you had to pay which is unfair. There was only one bar open at night so often long queues, there is a lovely big bar next to the restaurant which wasn’t in use which made no sense as this would of been a lovely place to sit and have a drink. Now on to the entertainment. The entertainment wasn’t great. The entertainment consisted of a few pool games during the morning and yoga then everything seems to stop for the kids until 5 pm which is very strange. They were pleasant enough though and enthusiastic well most were. The shows at night were very basic and lacked any effort really. The circus act was ok and the quiz was probably the best nights entertainment. The mini disco was ok, songs a bit repetitive could have mixed them up a bit but the children looked like they were enjoying it. The arcades are awful! Don’t bother wasting your money. Supermarket was good, good selection and the male shop keeper was very nice and always happy to help. It’s a bit of a walk to the beach about 15-20 mins however if you are unable the there is a train that stops outside the hotel and goes to the beach regularly and great for a quick sight seeing tour. The beach is lovely and definitely worth a visit. We enjoyed our time at the hotel and we both agreed that we did feel relaxed at the hotel and it was a nice relaxing week away. Mostly Good points and some Not so good points but all in all if you are looking for a relaxing week away then I would recommend this hotel.

Atmosphere . Value . Foods. Cleaning room.

We initially booked the sister hotel in Sa Coma but they overbooked and so we were moved by EasyJet to this hotel. For context we were a party of 4 friends in their 20s. Positives: Clean, beautiful space with lots of natural scenery and a large pool. Food was nice and the all inclusive is great. We were upgraded to Gold All Inclusive due to us being moved, which meant we didn’t pay a thing no matter what type of drink or cocktail we wanted. Only thing we had to pay for was branded ice creams/lollies or the spa. Staff are friendly and helpful, most of them all being multilingual speaking English, Spanish, French and German. Negatives: If you do not have children I do NOT recommend staying here. This hotel is extremely family oriented. In the morning they do water aerobics and kids activities by the pool and they play the exact same annoying songs every morning. In the evening EVERY night the entertainment is a kids disco. Again, playing the exact same annoying sequence of songs over and over every single day. There is absolutely no entertainment for adults like a singer or karaoke. They don’t switch up the schedule or the type of entertainment or the playlist. It is SO repetitive. Other hotels we’ve stayed at have kids entertainment until say 9pm then have something for the adults but that is not the same here. I can’t emphasise enough how irritating the songs they play for the kids are and it’s on repeat all day for 12 hours at intervals. The same songs over and over. So if you’re looking to relax and have adult entertainment this is not the hotel for you. If you have kids this is a fantastic place to stay. Another thing we found is that this hotel says it has a no sunbed reservation policy in place and yet there is no one outside in the morning that enforces this so people just leave their stuff all over the sunbeds and then disappear for hours. Food all tasted great and the desserts have a wide selection but for mains there isn’t much choice. If you don’t like the theme for that night you’re stuck with chips and pizza as for the themed main there’s only like 4/5 pots to choose from. The area it’s situated in is quiet. It’s a 15 min walk to the closest beach and about 25 mins walk to the busier promenade. Overall A great place to stay if you have children and don’t mind the constant focus on kids entertainment. It can be overstimulating and repetitive which a few days in just begins to be annoying and boring. The pool and amenities are lovely and the rooms are great. It’s scenic and the walk to the beach front or promenade might be a bit of a trek but is very nice and gets you away from the kids disco for a night.

We had an amazing family summer holiday at Vell Marí! The hotel exceeded our expectations. Here are the highlights, along with a few areas where I think there is room for improvement. Highlights: Impeccable staff – everyone was friendly, smiling, and approachable. Great food, with an almost completely different menu every day. The family room had everything we needed. Plenty of outdoor space. Very clean throughout the hotel. The all-inclusive drinks and snacks were consistently good. There is a small train that takes you to the beach. The beach isn't spectacular, but it's perfectly fine for a relaxing day. Areas for improvement: The pool rules are not enforced or followed at all, despite signs saying no reserving sunbeds, no diving, and no ball games. The plastic cups could be cleaned more thoroughly. I don't think their current condition is acceptable. When the hotel gets busy (as it did during the shift to the second week of july), the restaurant becomes crowded. Introducing staggered dinner times could help reduce queues. The grill station creates unnecessary waiting times. Cooking some items in batches would significantly speed up service. The indoor pool was surprisingly cold—even colder than the outdoor pool—which didn't make much sense. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily come back next year! Diogo Mendonça
