Hipotels Gran Playa de Palma

Lovely clean hotel, rooms kept really clean. Great pool area, huge swimming pool. Tiny pool for children, unfortunately no playground. 2 lifts not sufficient. Food tasty and a good variety, a shame that most of the food is barely luke warm. For a hotel with this rating I would expect hot food at breakfast and dinner. Needs to be sorted. More suited as an adult only hotel.

We had an incredible 7-day half-board stay at the Hipotels Playa de Palma Palace & Spa and cannot praise it enough. A major tip for future guests: request rooms 102 to 106! We were in 103, and this specific section has a private entrance off the reception area. With only five rooms in that corridor, it is extremely quiet. Our balcony perfectly overlooked the pool, meaning we enjoyed beautiful sunshine from midday to evening—it was so relaxing to sit out and listen to the music drifting over from the Gran Hotel. The atmosphere was fantastic. I had read reviews complaining about the hotel having a lot of German guests, but as an Irish person, I found this to be a huge positive. It was a relief not to overhear loud, overbearing English conversations; the German guests were incredibly respectful and polite (even if they lack the Irish sense of humor!). The food was consistently of the highest quality, with a different cultural theme every evening. The restaurant staff were always in great form, and the table staff were super attentive, clearing plates efficiently without ever making us feel rushed or guilty for indulging! The facilities are just as impressive. The spa is brilliant, and the outdoor pool is wonderfully warm, feeling like a treated saltwater pool rather than being heavily chlorinated. I also have to commend the pool staff for managing the sun loungers. They check the area before opening, and if anyone leaves a towel unattended for hours, the attendant will actively remove their belongings if you bring it to her attention. The evening entertainment in the top lounge area was fantastic. A memory that will stay with us forever was watching the total solar eclipse from this top area—the hotel made it an incredibly special event. Lastly, getting around is a breeze. The Bus 25 stop at Mega Park is cheap, easy to use, and goes directly to the aquarium and Palma. If you need a taxi, always ask reception to call one; they arrive within a minute (I tried a local app and waited half an hour). An absolute sanctuary of a hotel; do not hesitate to book!

Terrible hotel, obnoxious staff, extremely rude front of house staff - George especially, took money from our account after we left hotel, disgraceful manner from staff, towel man’s behaviour is appalling, AVOID AT ALL COSTS !! RIP you off for money once you leave and talk to you rudely also.

We stayed in the 5 Star hotel and the cleanliness was exceptional. We done Bed and Breakfast only. The Breakfast had plenty to choose from and something for everyone, Can not fault that at all. The rooms are spacious and the Air con was amazing when it was over 34 Degrees. The pool was clean, but very quiet, You can change the towels every day. But you can’t have any lilos, of any sort, rings, chairs etc..no ball games, so for the children it might be a bit boring . You can’t reserve beds, but we had no issues getting 7 beds every day. It would do with a bit of background music , just to have a bit of noise. The waiters serve drinks to your sun beds, so no need to go to the bar. One thing I would point out is the location, you are 5 minutes walk away from the beach, but its right along a strip of a very German populated area, of young groups of men and women , all having fun , but a little drunk.There are some nice food restraints along there though. It is also inundated with men walking around trying to sell sunglasses, hats, etc… We did do the beach for 1 day and the water was really warm and clear, you can hire a sun bed for €10 each and then €10 for the fixed umbrella. We also done a banana boat which was €15 euros per person. There is a Supermarket about 10 minute walk from the hotel, head out the main entrance where you come in via your transfer, turn right and just walk straight and its down on the left.

It’s for the first time when i write a negative review, but I feel other guests should be aware of our experience. We booked our family holiday through Booking.com. After our arrival, the hotel informed us that an additional charge of €982 was required for our 8-year-old child. My complaint is not only about the amount charged, but mainly about the way the situation was handled. I asked the hotel to allow me time to contact Booking.com and resolve the issue through the platform where I had made the reservation. Instead, I was told that if I did not pay immediately, the police would be called. A receptionist was then instructed to accompany me to my room while I collected the money. I found this humiliating and unnecessary. My child witnessed everything and became frightened. During the discussion, I was told that the hotel’s priority was to make money. Those words perfectly reflected how we felt we were being treated. After our stay, I asked the hotel several reasonable questions, including why I was not allowed to resolve the matter through Booking.com, why there was such a large difference in the charge compared with another family travelling with us, and why a receptionist had to accompany me to my room. None of these questions were answered. We chose this hotel expecting a relaxing family holiday. Unfortunately, this incident overshadowed our stay and left us deeply disappointed. I hope the hotel will improve the way it treats its guests in similar situations.
